I have read several rumors about a JII facelift again, which suposidly will bring back Dreamfinder( YAY!) and restore the original glory of figment. Anyone able to confirm or deny? thx

i have never seen the original w/ dreamfinder, but i would be open to seeing a change where they add him back in. i hope that they don't get rid of Eric Idle. that's the first version of Figment i ever saw. i'd hate to see it be replaced.

What is dreamfinder? I wouldn't mind seeing Journey into Imagination be a little more exciting. It's cute as it is, but I feel like it could use a little something more.

Dreamfinder is a man, he was the original host of the ride along with Figment...one of the very few cast members with a full beard:

There have been rumors floating around for the last several weeks that WDW may be planning another rehab of the Imagination Pavilion. The rehab would include a reworking of the 2nd floor ImageWorks. This info is speculative at this point as no formal announcement has been by either Disney or Kodak.

I hope that they do change it because when I went on after not even knowing they changed it...I was...well really disappointed. I knew something was different when I saw red cars instead of the blue ones...Dreamfinder was the man...and this Figment is definately not as cool as the old Figment. Well maybe "cool" isn't the right word to use, but this Figment is not as involved...it's hard to explain...but everybody that went on the original knows what I mean...DISNEY!!! LISTEN UP!!!

Bringing back Dreamfinder would be terrific. This rumor has been around for a while now, but I hope it actually becomes true for Epcot's 25th Anniversary.

I cannot imagine never having experienced the REAL Imagination attraction.

It's budget time at Disney. You're gonna hear a lot of rumors. 99% of them won't make it.

I really hope those rumors are true, and that they bring back the dreamfinder, I remember the original version of the ride from back when I was a little kid, now I'm 20 years old, and I'm glad they brought figment back, but it just isn't the same without the dreamfinder!!!!!!

Oh me too! I hope they bring him back. I loved the ride when it first came out. Then I went to Epcot after a long Disney break and it had totally changed. I was really disappointed and couldn't figure why they had changed it in the first place. Lets cross our fingers.

Yes, the original was very well done and never seemed outdated at all...its still much better than today's...although today's version isn't bad...it isnt the same

They should have just kept the old version and updated it the way they did IASM or POTC with new animitronics, new lights, a little cleanup, etc. But no... they had to gut the thing and turn it into crap. I have ridden the "new" version once and will never ride it again unless they change it back. Disney took my childhood, threw it on the ground, stomped on its head, peed on it, and threw it out with the trash all in the name of what? Getting some more "modern" digital videos in the ride instead of all the fun stuff that used to be there? Booooooooo!

The original JII ride was my favorite thing at Epcot growing up in the 80's. Now I we don't even visit the pavillion at all. We just scoff at it as we walk past and remember the good old days before it stunk. :guilty: :sad1:

um, it's an amusement park ride.

i really dug figment when i was a little kid, but I also stuck twist ties in my nostril when i was a little kid. Can't you just go with it?

Did the twist ties make you feel magical? I used to stick the rabbit ears from the TV into the power outlet. That feeling was about the same as seeing the Monsters Inc Ride at DCA.

That bitter tastes good, like strawberry.
Reminds me of my general feelings towards George Lucas. May his goiter expand and envelope his head.

I wonder if Figment was just like that little nemo ride at Epcot, that my perception of it at six years old was just that it was the best thing I'd ever seen. Not that it was an insane, epeleptic (sp?), convulsing acid trip. At 6 it probably was pretty awesome. When I revisit It's a small World I don't do it because it's awesome, I do it because it's awful and amusing at the same time.

Anyway, I digress. It entertains me that so many people complain about the stuff that never changes (norway movie, etc), and the other huge chunk can't handle any changes ever. Keep a diary of it, I bet it's the same people. The ones that make it so I can't buy a greeting card with a bunny joking about getting drunk.

Don't get me wrong, I love Disney World. It's a ton of fun, if anything it doesn't change enough, but figment was cool in the day, and it's ok now, it'll probably be cool in the future. I don't get this "best thing ever" to "awful train wreck" thing people see in minor to major adjustments to Amusement Park Rides

Journey into the Imagination was a fundimentally better designed attraction. It drew you into a story and made you interested in what was going on. Journey into YOUR Imagination is just a disconnected series of rooms with no real meaning.

Whether or not Imagination was some sort of pinnicle of Imagineering is I suppose up for debate, but it seriously was better then what we got in return. At least according to this fan that rode as an adult.

Having said all that. I would have been fine with a change and am always fine with changes if those changes are done in the spirit of good show with well thought out and well implemented design elements and imagineering concepts.

I miss Horizons, and I'm disappointed that such a fundimental to the park attraction hasn't been redone in some way, but if Mission: Space had actually been designed and built with good sound methodology and concepts and an eye towards the goals of Epcot, I wouldn't have minded nearly as much.

Its difficult to describe exactly WHY the original Imagination attraction is better, but I'll attempt it.

Ironically the original seemed to be more um, imaginative in how it described imagination. The new one has a slot machine, an upside down house, an eye chart, and many other relatively normal things. It does have a few unique touches and that prevents it from being completely boring.

The original was much more abstract and in some ways "out there"...there was the painting of scenes, the scary books and figment trying to keep monsters from escaping, and using nature and other scenes to come up with new ideas (Remember "But what about Science?").

Im actually having trouble describing the orignal ride as easily as the new one, but that might be why the original was better...you cant just say "oh it just has this and this", you have to experience it to really understand how different it was.
