Journey back to ME!!- I'm getting bugged!!

Ok, so I've already had most of my points for the day, and not in quality food. Chips(6), real cheese(6), peach mango salsa(2), chocolate(3) more chips(3).

I'm going to try to lasso DD when she walks in and have us run to the gym for a quick workout. I know we won't make it on Sunday as she will be exhausted and I won't have time since we are going to Mamma Mia that night. I NEED it! Hopefully we can do cardio & weights today & then get in a quick swim tomorrow.

I'm not sure what is going on w/ DH, but he has been an absolute BEAR lately (any other term would get edited!). I was in the bedroom the other night, trying to transfer our home vhs movies to DVD when Mia came in choking badly on rawhide (still not sure where she got it). I tried & tried & couldn't get it from her & she wasn't breathing well. I asked him for help & he told me he was 'too busy doing Sudoku'. So, I gathered her up & went to the kitchen all the while screaming for DS17 who was working in the garage. Together we kept trying to get it (now half in, half out of her throat). In the process, I took her 4 fangs in the pad of my right middle finger. DD comes up and tries to help, then screams at her dad (not too nicely, either) to come help. Almost 5 minutes later (I was at this point applying pressure and running my finger under cold water as it was bleeding all over & was watching the clock) he walks in and calmly says ' did someone call me to come help? I'm a bit busy and walks out'. DS17 finally got the rawhide from Mia when she was almost passed out due to lack of air. She seems fine now, thankfully.

Then, DD is unsure about fencing and wants to try something else. Last night she tried Ninjutsu which is what DS17 does. DH was livid that she should not be doing that. I think it's great self defense and is a mid & high school class right near our house. UGH!!!!

Tuesday the springs inside the door of my dishwasher came shooting out. It barely opens or closes. DS17 & I took it apart to look & it's a small replaceable piece, but DH doesn't want me to call our home warranty people to come fix it. So, I imagine the parts will lie on my kitchen floor for weeks before he notices, complains & then I eventually get to call to get it fixed.

Calgon take me away...........

DD just walked in. Now to convince her going to the gym would be fun!

Later.....

Hi Julie
Conrats on the loss :)
I'm glad Mia was ok, it must have been scary for you!!
Hows your finger?
Did you make the gym?
Hope DH gets out of his 'mood' soon!
Hope you have a great weekend & get that walk in :)

Julie – I have been thinking about you so much, and I’m really sorry I haven’t made it back to your journal sooner. I am so happy the mammogram came back clear. :woohoo: I know that was weighing so heavily on your mind and it must be such a tremendous relief to have it behind you. :goodvibes:

I was hoping you could make it to Orlando for the Minnie! I think you should try to get there – you’ve already mastered the 16:00 pace, so going 15 is not so bad! I know you are worried about whether DD would be able to train in time by then, but is there any chance she could be your “scream team” and you could do the race with other WISHers? There is a huge group of WISHers making it a weekend and I know you’d have an awesome time. It sounds like you are gearing yourself toward the DL ½, but I really, really hope you’ll still consider making the Minnie weekend! :thumbsup2

That story about Mia is so scary. I’m glad she is okay. I’m sorry you are dealing with DH’s unhappiness and moodiness. I am sure a lot of it is weather blues and health stress, but I hope the situation improves for both of you soon.

Have a great weekend, Julie!

 Julie,

I'm sending some extra :wizard: and prayers your way. I'm glad to hear that Mia is okay. That is so scary! How is your finger? Did you go and get stitches?

Sending good thoughts and prayers your DH's way too... Hope things improve their soon.:goodvibes

Take care, Julie....

Julie, really scary Mia story, I am so glad she is all right! I hope your finger is better too! I hope you got to the gym and that this week is a great one for your! And I sure understand the aggravation and disappointment of having your scale indicate a larger loss than what you get on the WW one. I have had that happen more than once which makes me think maybe ww's scale could be off occasionally too. But any loss is a loss so celebrate that and give yourself a pat on the back!

Everytime I try to get on here, something comes up, the computer crashes, or my post disappears. UGH!!!!!

This weekend was a HORRID food weekend. And not much good sleep. Munch, Munch, Munch! And all the wrong stuff. Way overboard on carbs, and NOT the good kind! Last night I started paying for it as my blood sugar crashed worse than it has in a very long time - shaky, empty feeling, irritable, lightheaded, weak & achy. So, I had to keep eating to try to build it. When it goes that low it tends to not stay up for long. But, I know I caused it over the course of days from eating too much junk, and not enough good stuff. Then yesterday morning I had slimfast, then chips, cheese & mango salsa, then a handful of s&v chips, then a handful of brown rice chips, a couple of thin mints(stupid girl scouts!) and nothing else all day except diet tea. So, I had a light em with a generous amount of peanut butter and some simply fruit spread, after about 4 oz gatorade(WAY too sweet for me now). Within a little over an hour it was dropping again & I had some sliced turkey, then another hour had a couple slices of ff cheese and 4 oz skim milk. Fortunately that held me all night and I'm off to a better start today. Besides the wrong food & lack of sleep, I'm fairly certain a good bit is my messed up hormones. I used to crash like this frequently, hormone related, and I KNOW my hormones are really messed up right now. Mid-life is SO much fun!

Once again it is supposed to rain/snow the next FOUR days off & on, so I have to drive DS17 to work. DS21 worked yesterday for 12 hours and will work the next 4 nights from 10 til they are done. Hopefully he won't blow all his money and will get his car fixed!

My Garmin came yesterday late afternoon, but I haven't even opened the box. After I drop DS17 off, I'm going to the gym, then when I get home, if I've time alone, I'll open it and start reading how to work it. I'm not a techno geek, but..... Speaking of geeks I have to relate a funny(or stupid) DH story. He's had a cell for almost 3 years. We all 5 have Verizon, so it's free between us. I've had to explain the whole 'free after 9:01 p and weekends to Anyone', ' we share minutes', and 'free V to V' too many times to count. yesterday he had rehab & called from his cell to the house phone after to 'see if he should come home'. Then I ask if he's on his cell and why he didn't call my cell. His answer was he didn't want to use both our minutes, this way it's just his. I again explained the V to V again & he insists that it's only on weekends and he can never call anyone else without it costing minutes. And this guy designs airplanes!!!!! (Makes you want to fly, huh????) He then asked me to type it all up on a small card to fit in his phone case. How pathetic is that! It will go right next to his list of meds & when to take them as he can't remember 4 pills a day. :rolleyes1

Anyway....... Mia MAY be pregnant - too early to really tell, but she is much more lethargic than usual. My finger is almost healed - no stitches - just a couple of butterflys. 3 of 4 were just deep punctures - one was about a 1/2"
slice.

I'm thinking of changing our FL trip slightly. We're scheduled to leave here at 4:15 arr Orlando 9:30 which means we wouldn't reach my DSis until 11 or after. To do that DD would miss about 45 min school that day. I'm thinking of pulling her an extra hour early and leave at 2:30 and arrive Tampa at 7:45 instead. Tampa airport is closer to DSis & the traffic is never as bad, so we would actually be at her house before 9. Can't decide. My DBro in Naples did call and he will actually be in the country when we are in FL, so on 2/17, we are going down to stay 1 night at his house. (Well, DD might sleep there with the critters, but DSis & I are going to a hotel) He has promised to take DD kayaking on Sunday Morning at the wildlife preserve and also to let her go out with the head of Marine Bio & some grad students on the school boat on Saturday when they go to do an observation. She will love it!

Food 1/30 -

lt em(1)
egg beaters(1)
ff chz(1)
Banana peppers(0)

20 oz decaf green tea

I'm NOT looking forward to WI on Thursday - if I even make it with driving DS17 around. But, I've done it to myself if it isn't good!

Hopefully I'll get to some journals later. I've started weeding out my closet which was still many boxes from DMIL house that had never been opened and lots & lots of pics. I'm hoping to finish that this weekend.

Hi Julie
life sounds busy busy for you!
Hope they got the the weather forcast wrong!!!
I had a bad food weekend too!
The Florida trip sounds like its going to be lots of fun :)

How frightening for all of you with Mia. So glad that she is ok. How exciting that she may be preg too! :wizard: Dh is probably stressing about his health. It is unfortunate that he is taking it out on all of you and not handling it better. At least he went to rehab. More :wizard: for you that you get more rain than snow. The weather really has been bizarre this year! Drive safe.

Well that is good news for Mia, better her than me! I agree mid life is so fun, with weird cycles, hot flashes and all other kinds of joys. It sounds like ds20 is really doing well. I am laughing to death with your dh/cell phone story! My husband is very technical and genious but some things really stump him too! Hope your blood sugar is back where it should be. And we are supposed to get a bunch of snow here in Colorado too. What a lovely winter.

Hi Julie,

That is a funny story about your DH and the cell phone!:lmao: My brother is technical like that and sometimes, he just cracks me up.

I'm sorry to hear about the sugar crash and the hormone thing.... I hope you are feeling better soon!

How's the Garmin working out? What exactly is a Garmin?

Hope you have a great Thursday!:goodvibes

Well, I'm not making WW WI today as DD is giving a speech on fencing and since her epee is considered a weapon I have to go. I have to be at the school with the epee 30 min prior to class, have security escort me (2 of them! - I must be a threat!) to the class, give the epee to the teacher, go sit in the lobby for 90 min, then wait til the next class has started and security will again escort me to retrieve them and take them to my car and will see me off campus. Fun, Fun!

But, I have to admit I'm not all that sad I'm not going as I'm certain I would have gained. Impending TOM and a bad weekend are catching up.

I'm down 3.5 for January according to my home scale. I'll take it, but need to do better.

After my school visit I'm going to the gym to swim for an hour. I've never really enjoyed it, but am now beginning to. The last 3 days I've pushed it so I barely made my Jan exercise goal, but I did make it - finally.

Haven't had a chance to open the Garmin yet, Tracy. It's a wristwatch type GPS, walking/running tracker, thingy (that's the technical description, dontcha know!) I ended up getting the one with the heart rate monitor and that doesn't use up batteries, just plugs in to charge. Next week is supposed to be back in the 50's - more normal for here- so I should get the chance to give it a try soon!

I spent yesterday in my car - it went like this: take DD to school, Wake DS17, Take DS17 to work, Wake DS20, Take DS20 to work, Pick up DD at school ( bus never showed), Take her home to begin homework, Pick DS20 up at work, Take DD to fencing to get equipment for the speech today, Take DD to buy posterboard, Pick DS17 up at work, Take DS17 home to change, Take DS17 to Ninjutsu, Pick DS17 up at Niinjutsu, Wake DS20, Take DS20 back to work - then fall into bed until DS20 got off & called at 4:30 a.m. when I had to go get him, got back in time for the pups to need out & had to then wake DD for school today. UGH!! Is it any wonder why I'm tired????? And I burned 1/2 a tank of gas yesterday??

Off to take the sword to school. Hopefully I'll get back on later....

Hi Julie thanks for clearing up what a garmin is!!!
Although it sounds like you should invest in a taxi meter instead!!! :lmao:
Make sure your not being taken for granted too much!
I hope they appreciate you :grouphug:
:cheer2: congrats on the weight loss:cheer2:

Reading about all the stuff you had to go through for DD to take her epee (& i dont know what one of those are either :crazy2: ) is scary...sign of the times eh!!!

Oohh just spotted the perfect smily for you
:drive:

:rotfl:

LOVE the Smiley, Tracey!!! Yes, that's me!!!

I did sneak in a quick visit to the casino with a friend today. Came out with $10.06 more than I went in with :thumbsup2 , so I can go again!:cool1:

Then I ran to the gym for a quick 48 min lap swim & shower before going back to school to get DD as she had her choir formal pics today & they won't allow them to ride the bus with any extra things that don't fit in a backpack. (She forgot the pics were today, so when I was 1/2 way home from dropping her this morning- no bus again!, she called & I had to go get the dress & shoes & take them right back, then go back an hour later with the epee) Yes, I live in my car!

Epee, is a fencing sword. Most people recognize the foil. Epee is a bit larger, heavier, and the entire body is target whereas in foil, just the shiny silver vest is target.

She got 100% on her speech. Wish I could have seen it. The principal & the counselors saw the swords in the office & came in to hear it. Teacher's comments were that she was 'very eloquent' and had her audience 'mesmerized - even me!'. She was very happy. Then everyone in the class has to write 2 positive comments about each speech and give them to the speech giver. She showed them to me. All but 3 had very large spelling errors - 'sword spelled sord', 'really was rely', etc, but the worst said 'Mice Weponds' which we think must have been intended for 'nice weapons'. Maybe New Mexico really IS in another country!!

I found out that DS17 has to take a NM GED in order to get the Lottery Scholarship - fine with me as he will also have a real diploma from the accredited online school. But, the amazing thing was that NM offers the GED entirely in Spanish and they get a NM HS Diploma. Does that bother anyone but me????? (not intended to be rude to other cultures/languages - I have a masters in Spanish!, but this is the US and our official language is still English!)

Ok, off my soapbox.....

Food 2/1 - Somehow I HAVE to be consistent journaling this month!

WW yogurt w/ all bran(1)
sm banana(1)
hot cocoa(free at the casino - skipped the yummy whipped cream)(3)
slimfast(3)
lt em w/ a teensy tiny smidge of pbj(2)
baked potato(3)
taco meat(2)
fat free feta(.5)
fat free sour cream(.5)
sf pudding (1)
ff cool whip(0)

Water has been not good today. Must do better on that. I usually do. I still have 10 points left, but probably won't use any. I was planning to have breyers heart healthy ice cream and blueberries, but ran out of time. Can't think of eating that at 10 at night when it's cold out.

Hope everyone is having a good week. Weekend is almost here!!

Last night was another homework til midnight night and DD had a complete meltdown, not to mention the one DH had where he somewhat threw 2 lb Max and shouted at DD & I because we were busy and the dogs were wanting to go out & making noise.

So, in the frustration, I had some tostitos. Somewhere between 3 & 6 points worth, but I'm absolutely positive no more than 6 pts(2 serv) as I counted out 6 pts and didn't finish them. So, I was still under points for the day.

Y'all are really going to think I'm nuts, but I'm hoping & praying DD & I get bumped on 1 of our flights. If we do, I WILL sign up for the Minnie as I won't have the guilties about coming in case I would get swept. The flight we are returning on is the same one we got bumped on last year. It was then that an elderly couple informed us that they have taken the same flights for the last 7 years, each year getting bumped each way and then getting the next years trip free. So, I'm hoping! We initially chose the time & Tampa because of convenience, but when DD reminded me of this I am now hopeful. Am I weird....Yes! And somewhat proud of it!

Not sure what today will bring. It's too cold for DS17 to ride the cycle, so I'm taking him to work & I have to go to Sam's as our card expired & I need to renew to get gas. I'm planning on a trip to the gym as well - hopefully it will happen.

More later....

Wow, Julie, I always get exhausted when I read your journal. How DO you find the energy to keep up with it all? I am worried about Max. Is he okay? How shameful of your DS to have mistreated him.
So glad to hear DD's speech went well. I am sure you are very proud of her. I am sorry her homework is so overwhelming. I actually remember those days so well, but I was also working 2 part-time jobs from the time I turned 15. I know she is a busy girl, but I hope she appreciates all you do to make her life enjoyable and as smooth-sailing as you can. You are an amazing Mom, Julie!
I really, really hope you will be able to make it to Orlando for the Minnie! We will have all sorts of WISH get-togethers and it would be absolutely wonderful to meet you!
Have a great weekend, sweetie!

Hey Julie,

You're the only person who I know sounds busier than me!

Hang in there, and try to have a good weekend.

Well, yesterday was to be a run errands, go to the gym day. I made it to Sam's then ran into the mall when DD called from the nurse's office and I had to go get her. That blew the rest of the day. Oh well..... I think it's a combination of exhaustion, TOM woes and a bit of allergies/cold. Hopefully she will get lots of sleep this weekend.

I'm leaving soon to do all the errands I should have done yesterday. First stop is the gym where I will swim, but can't go til Water aerobics is almost over. I don't want to anger the 'blue hairs', and they take down all the lanes then anyway. I'm hoping DD is better enough tomorrow to go & we'll do weights/cardio.

Max is fine, Cam, just was scared & upset with DH for doing that to him. He's pretty tough for 2 lbs.

Yesterday DH quit cardiac rehab. When he signed up, and in our numerous phone calls, they assured us he could go twice & they would hook him up, then they would give him a plan to do on his own and he could come in to be checked at 4/8/12 weeks. Never happened. The 6 visits he had (costing almost $7000 between our part & ins. co. part) they monitored, but increased a total of 1 minute, ignored his asking for a plan, never explained when to add, how to add, what to add, or what his results were. But, when he called, he didn't tell them this, he just quit. Sigh.......

Yes, Kate, I'm busy, but sometimes I think if I was ever un-busy that I'd drop over dead. I'm the type that can't stand to sit & watch TV or a movie without something else to do. My kids say I must be ADD, but I've just always been active and can't bear not being active if there's nothing that's really captivating my interest. I can sit & read a good book for hours, ride on a train for days doing nothing, but not at home. I just don't understand how people can sit for many many hours in front of a tv.

Well, off to get ready for the gym & errands. I can go to one before the gym.

Hope everyone is having a GREAT weekend!

 Julie,

I am sending you some energizing :wizard: for the weekend.

I hope your DD is feeling better soon.:goodvibes

I'm sorry to hear that your DH quit cardiac rehab.... Is there anyway that he might go back?

Thanks for letting me know what a Garmin is.... It sounds like a pretty nifty device.:goodvibes

I hope you have a good weekend... Please try and take it easy if you can.

Hi Julie, as usual you sound busy but as you say, that's the way you like it so I guess that is aa good thing! It sounds like your dd did very well indeed on her speech. And I am not surprised that kids don't know how to spell, between spell check and the way they teach now its not surprising. I also had to laugh at the GED in Spanish. It drives me nuts too but since they also give driving tests in Spanish, why not the GED too? Oh, I was also laughing at you having to take the epee to school yourself. My son has a woven, yarn like sling shot his grandfather got in Israel. Its supposedly like the one David killed Goliath with and the shephards still use them today. Anyway I had to do the same thing a few years ago with a speech he did (in second grade) since it was considered a weapon. Same kind of thing, the principal and office staff came into hear the speech since it had been this big hoopla whether or not he could bring it in or not! I guess they just have to be careful but since this thing weighed less than an ounce it was sort of funny! Have a great weekend. Oh and I am sorry the cardiac thing for dh turned out that way. Gotta love the bureaucracy of modern medicine. I hope he continue with some sort of program at home.

Hi Julie,
Just read through your posts. You really are busy. I remember those days when my DD was in precision skating and figure skating. I knew every arena in my Province and even some as far away as a 1000 miles. It was a full time job keeping up with her. When she reached her last year of high school it floored me when she said she was quitting---to get ready for post secondary school. Her reasoning was good but I thought "But what do I do with my time????" Now I can't fathom how I fit it in.
I have a question about the Garner. I now have to wear reading glasses to read small print. When you have the Garner on your wrist is the print small? I can read a wristwatch and tell the time without glasses.
Thanks
