Journey back to ME!!- I'm getting bugged!!

Julie, I got caught up with you a bit, so sorry about your dh and really keeping him in my prayers! HOpefully he wil make the changes he needs to in order to get healthy. Of course hopefully I will too! In any case, hang in there and I hope your snow melts soon. It really wreaks havoc with life in general doesn't it? Also good news that ds20 is working at least part time. Its a start!

Wow! What an experience with all that snow! I suppose it works out good for your DS17--a nice workout and some extra money.

I hope you're all able to dig out soon and get back to your regular routines. I think you're doing a great job keeping up with your exercise and taking care of your self.

I'm so sorry to hear about your DH and all of the headaches with the insurance company. Yuck! Sending lots of :wizard: your way!

Thanks for all the p & pd all!! I need them! I HATE insurance companies!!!! Seems now if he goes to Cardiac rehab even ONE visit, it will be between $1400 - $1800. OUCH!!!!! And of course the hospital bills haven't begun arriving - I saw the cardiologists charge for 1 ER visit of 5 min and a 30 min procedure - $49k! Yes, we have decent insurance, but it will still be many thousands of $$. Yet another reason to GET and STAY HEALTHY!!!!

Didn't make WW today as I had to take DS17 to work. I'm going to try to take him early tomorrow and make it to the 10a.m. meeting, but in all likelihood, it will be next week. Sigh........

DD and I ran errands for 4 hours and just got home. Tonight is swimming night for us at the gym. I resisted spending for the fun of spending, except that I bought the Starbucks Valentines bears for my collection and used my Bath & Body Works gift card to buy 2 lg candles, lemon butter and a tote bag full of free offers - spend $16+ on what would have been over $70. Picked up a few groceries & a new belt for DH as his broke this morning, otherwise we window shopped which is much healthier for the pocketbook!

 Julie,

You certainly have had a lot of snow out your way...... I hope everything clears up soon.:goodvibes

Sending you prayers and :wizard: for the insurance situation. How is your DH feeling?

Good for you for buying some special things just for you!

Have a great Friday!:goodvibes

Hi,

Wow I can't believe the snow you have gotten. Pretty though. I hope everything works out for you with the insurance. That is a big stressor.

I'm going to try this again to finish my post as the site kept on kicking me off!

Anyhow, I hope your husband starts feeling back to himself soon. As far as your older son, I have no advice as my kids are no where near that age. It must be a big frustration though to see what he isn't doing and is doing. That would make me want to open up a bag of chips with a side of ice cream out of pure frustration. Hopefully he will get his act together soon. I can't "wait" until the teenage/early twenties age!;)

Wow! I thought I was the only one who ate chips & ice cream! What about Chocolate Ice Cream with Peanut Butter spooned on? I lived on that my freshman year of college after they found a mouse baked into the meatloaf - whole mouse! Or maybe Wendy's chocolate frosty with french fries to dip in???? Gee, I'm making myself hungry!

DH really had a meltdown last night as when asked, I mentioned that I didn't sleep much the night before due to stress over the insurance, etc. He THREW a plate of PBJ sandwiches at me(this was his after dinner snack!) then went to the kitchen and slammed a cupboard hard enough to crack it. Fortunately I held my temper by going downstairs & playing Wii Bowling with DD.

He has GOT to get his eating under control. After his dinner - fish & lots of veggies with brown rice. He ate 2 pjs sand on white bread, then several slices of pizza. To top it off he had 7 layer bean dip and tortilla chips. NOT exactly the diet someone with a heart attack 3 weeks ago should eat!
Tonight he polished off the bean dip & bag of chips, had dinner of shrimp cakes, brown rice & veggies, then cookies. But he knows portion control & all about healthy eating....right!

DD & I ran errands today. Had to go to Sam's to get lunch meat. Instead of buying my usual 'sub meat - turkey & ham from Oscar Meyer prepackaged' I bought a large lowfat smoked ham & a 98% ff turkey breast & had them sliced for sandwiches. DS17 nearly lives on lunch meat and this way it was $1.88/lb not over $3/lb.

Then we went to the gym - late due to a back up caused by a big car accident - so we swam for 40 min, then left. Disappointed, but better than nothing. I ended up with a fat lip as DD was trying to stand on a kick board & it flew up from the bottom of the pool into my lower lip. What fun! At least I didn't bleed into the pool!

DS17 lost the last History test he has to submit, so he has to redo it tonight. Not fun!! Plus he has his motorcycle torn apart to add a shift light or something. Fortunately it's still wet/snowy so he can't ride it for a while.

Snow FINALLY started really melting today, but we may get more snow tonight. I love snow, but living here, I'd rather not deal with it. Hopefully the kids will have school on Monday.

Went to WW this morning to WI. Up .4. I wasn't really surprised, nor was I too disappointed. I always seem to gain when I first start exercising seriously. Hopefully next week will be better!

Julie, I am sorry your husband threw a fit and a plate. I am sure he is feeling overwhelmed by all of this and knowing that his health or lack thereof is having a trickle down affect for your finances but thats just not right. Good job holding your temper and not throwing a bigger plate right back at him! I hope this all gets better soon. At least he had some healthy food before the pbj's and pizza. Hang in there :grouphug: !

And chocolate ice cream with peanut butter is a favorite of mine! Put some fritos with it and you have a feast! A whole mouse in a meatloaf? I think somebody working in that kitchen had a sick sense of humor!:rotfl2:

I really do hope things look up soon and that your dh gets on the right track. As for your small gain you probably lost since the muscle you gained exercising weighs more than that small gain. So good job! If you get snow tonight its probably from us here in Colorado, we got another 8 inches. Sorry to share!

Hi Julie,

I am sorry I have been MIA for a while...just read about all the happenings going on. I hope your DH is feeling better and gets everything under control.

I am sorry to hear that he threw a plate for being angry, he may just be trying to adjust to the news. Hopefully things will get better!

You are doing a great job and have wonderful goals for 2007.I know you can do it!

Keep up the good work!

We didn't get much of your Snow, Amy, and I'm GLAD!!! I think DD & I would both go NUTS if she didn't go to School on Monday!

Not sure what all the weekend will bring. In my new 'curb expenses' goal, I'm recording EVERYTHING that is spent, so I just entered all of it in the computer - no program, just my own pages that I can understand. I'm definitely NOT a computer geek!

I've got a ton of laundry to do but I have vowed not to touch it until either DD or DH cleans the laundry room which is where the cat box is. DD never scoops and last time - 3 weeks+ DH helped and swept all the 'overflow' in a pile and LEFT it! I'm boycotting as I'm tired of crunching litter if I drop something between washer & dryer having to reclean it. DD is 15, no excuses for not being able to do it - besides it's right outside her bedroom door!! Maybe they'll wake up when they have no clean clothes for Monday!

At some point today DD & I will go to the gym. We will again invite DH to walk a treadmill, bike or swim a bit, but he won't. Last night we finally got him to come downstair & play Wii bowling with us. He SAT on the couch to play. Standing and moving his arm was too strenuous! I'm not being rude, in the hospital they had him up & moving within 2 hours of the angioplasty and said even open heart patients have to get out & Walk at least 10 min at a time 3x/day and that he can do as much as he feels comfortable with.

HI Julie
Glad the snow is starting to disappear!
Sorry to here about DH not behaving!!!
You are doing fantastic with food & exercise especially with all the stress you are under right now!
I really hope life calms down for you soon
Tracey x

I'm so sorry to hear about dh's fit. It must be stressful. Hopefully he will start working on his eating habits when he gets some of the frustration out of his system.

I must say that I admire you so much for continuing with your healthy lifestyle (ie. going to gym with dd) with so much going on. You're such a trooper! You deserve so much success.

I'm glad the snow is melting. Hopefully you're enjoying the weekend. Keep up the great work!

Well, the gym didn't happen yesterday, but I did get in 30 min of walking. Then last night when DS20 was at work, DS17 at his friends, DD15 at a birthday party(she was the only native english speaker there...more later) & DH doing his usual lay on the bed, watch tv & try not to exert too much energy pushing the buttons, I snuck down to the Wii. I played Tennis for almost 90 min - breathing hard, and I'm sore today - guess it is a bit of exercise, or I go WAY overboard in playing it. Also bowled for an hour on Wii. I'm not counting those as exercise, but I'm sure it was some!

Today I need to get laundry done - IF someone cleans the laundry/cat room! I have a box to return to Coldwater Creek on the other side of town - ordered a ton of clothes at 70% off & need to return those that don't fit or that I didn't like the styles in person. I can fit their Small in knit cargo pants - I'm NOT a real Small, but it sure does help the ego when you read the tag!! Then it's basic house stuff & get DD ready for school tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be hectic as I have to have DS17 and DS20 both at work at 10 a.m. and in opposite directions about 19 miles apart. If only this snow would disappear DS17 could ride his cycle & I could also get Christmas taken care of! Should be interesting!

Do you have a hard time controlling the Wii controller so it doesn't fling out of your hand? Is fling even a word?:rotfl: I think all that counts alot for exercise. Good for you.

Even if you didnt make it to the gym, its great that you got your walking in!!
i hope you are having a great weekend!!

I am sorry DH is not doing what he know he needs to do. But it is great you are not letting that deter you from your own health living. I have gone on a laundry strike before too (usually when people have not put away the clean clothes from the week before!) Good Luck! Hopefully they will get the message quickly. Glad the snow is starting to go away. Good Luck tomorrow getting everyone where they need to be. :)

Hi Julie,

Sending some :wizard: for your DH to get inspired to want to start exercising soon.... Good for you for keeping up the good work!:cheer2: I really want to try that Wii out! It looks like so much fun!:goodvibes

Hope you have a great week!

Yes, Tracy, the Wii is SO MUCH FUN!!!

My kids have or have had nearly every game system as they all work & all love to play, but I bought this for ME! I said that any game that lets me go 'WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE' must be fun! My right arm is SO sore from tennis. I think I'm going to develop Wii Elbow:rotfl2: ! And I move around a bit too much - smacked the back of my hand on the elliptical, sent a plastic glass(empty) flying, tripped on my pant leg & nearly fell - all in 1 game.:scared1:

Fortunately, I tend to have a bit of a death grip on the controller so I haven't sent it flying, or I'm sure something would be broken by now. The cabinet our tv is in has all glass doors which could be a bit dangerous!

Didn't make it to the gym today. I tried to get everyone moving to get some basics done & they didn't, so I was late getting out to run the errands - needed to return a BUNCH at Coldwater Creek across town & then there was over a 30 min line to check out, then the clerk goofed & charged my stuff instead of returned it. So, by the time we got milk & got back home, I had to wash dishes by hand that I needed out of the sink, get dinner started & then it was too late. I did sneak away for a walk.

I overheard DS17 talking with DH. They were discussing DH lack of fitness - DS17, remember is my former gymnast who is amazingly fit. DH told him he doesn't want to get fit. He had a blockage, they fixed it, it should be good for another 20 - 30 years. UGH!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry, that's just plain STUPID!! :sad2: But, DD & I had already guessed that that was his feeling on the issue.

DD FINALLY got the laundry room cleaned so I started laundry. I have the HUGE front loading machines (orange, or course:flower3: to match my bug) and I've done 5 FULL loads :laundy: already and have at least 3 - 4 more to do. And boy do they hold a LOT of clothes. I can fit a king size comforter & sheets in and it's not over full.

DS17 is really cleaning out his room. Tons of goodies he doesn't want that will be sold on Ebay or a Garage Sale, plus lots of his gymnastics stuff. He's ready to move on to be a college kid. He'd like to sell his bedroom furniture & get a futon type bed, entertainment center & beanbags. Not ready for that, plus I"m not convinced futons are very comfy for really sleeping. He thinks those would be of better use to him when he finally moves out. Time will tell..... but no hurry as he's planning to live at home for SIX years of college (pharmacy school).

Well, off to unload they dryer & hopefully get some sleep. DS20 worked 6p - 6a this morning & when he got home I fixed him an omelet and he sat & talked for almost 2 hours so I didn't get any more sleep. Oh well, it was good.

Have a great week everyone!

How great that DS20 worked a 12 hr shift and also that the two of you got a chance to talk too. It sounds like he is getting himself together. :) Sorry about DH's attitude. Maybe the Dr can talk some sense into him at his next check up?

Here's :wizard: for a good week with no more snow!

I'm so jealous about your Wii! I heard they're coming our with a workout game soon--how fun would that be!

I just finished my last loads of laundry for 3 months! I guess bed rest isn't always a bad thing :)

You're a strong and determined woman...and it's awesome you're able to keep your goals in your focus, even if your DH isn't as committed :) Keep up the hard work.
