YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!!!! Those young women have been freed by North Korea!!! We were all holding our breath hoping nothing would go wrong and YES! they are free and on their way home!!!!!!!! Wahooooo!!!!
It's good that Clinton went and they they were released, but there weren't any negotiations. The former President was there as a private individual and not as a representative of our Government... the Administration made that quite clear.I am pleased to see the power of negotiation work. Great job Bill!
Ah...the voice of reason. It's good that Clinton went and they they were released, but there weren't any negotiations. The former President was there as a private individual and not as a representative of our Government... the Administration made that quite clear.
The journalists were likely released because Kim Jong Il got a great PR event for this trophy case that he thinks demonstrates to the World what a powerful guy he is:

In fact the dictator requested Bill Clinton come visit him.
Good observations, Wishing...Thank Goodness!!!!!
However, I have to add....
I see that the other thread was never closed... And it was very very very obviously political.
Apparantly, there is only a ban on political posts if they do not agree with the agenda of the powers that be. I noticed that political threads and flaming were banned at the time our current president took office... the previous president was open fodder.
The facts (non political) Bill Clinton did not negotiate anything....
I just heard Laura Ling on the radio describing how they were told that they had a "meeting" and walked in to see President Clinton standing there. It must have been an amazing moment to see a former president there and know that you were going home!
I saw it on TV. It was emotional.
I could care less whether Clinton negotiated or not or if he just showed up and did some shots with Jong and danced a jig. The fact that they are home safe, on US soil, hugging their loved ones is all that should matter.
So glad this had a happy ending.![]()
