Josh's EasyWDW plan works

So glad to here that. We are going to follow his plan this trip instead of doing early EMH. :thumbsup2

Great interview Andy, really enjoyed reading it. I have been on Josh's site extensively but had not seen that.

Just getting ready to leave! Followed Josh's advice and used cheat sheets in the parks. It worked like a charm! Went to Hollywood Studios yesterday on a recommended day by Josh but not recommended by touring plans. Rode all the major rides twice, and all the minor rides we wanted. Had a great day and didn't feel like we'd been run over by a bus lol!

I know this is a little off topic but this thread deals with Josh, so I thought I'd post it here.

If you don't read this site (not easyWDW another site) or are on his forums, you haven't seen this article interviewing Josh. It's pretty funny and enjoyable. You can find it on his forums.

OP, glad Josh's advice worked for you!
I think I read that on Gina's Mickey Travel website. It was a fun article, very 'Josh-like'.

I'm not a uber planner but have always relied on his park reccos with great success. Love his wit n snarky-ness in the blogs too. In the world of pixie dust and magic I often find myself in need of a little sarcasm to keep things n perspective.

Somebody needs to playtest EasyWDW vs. Touring Plans for the same parks on a given day and see which one works better.

In the past couple years I have used touring plans and literally when we got to the park wondered if we chose the wrong park or if the plans had changed at the last minute. I've come back home and the 1st thing I read on the boards people posting that the park they were almost empty and we were there the same week. This year I'm following Josh's plan. Ok Josh I'm trusting you this year. :thumbsup2

Love to read Josh's posts. Makes me miss WDW a little less, and a little more. :rotfl2: I use his photos of menus to update my snacks threads information. I like his sense of humor.

I'm not looking forward to when prices increase sometime this month and Josh reports on it. I'll have to do some major revisions to my list.

Can't wait for Josh to return home.

I have used his recommendations before except for when we PH to evening EMH, just can't stop myself. Plan on using his rec. and cheat sheets in January (if I can pull the trip off!)

Question: if you had to go against Josh's advice and go to the NOT recommended park, how bad it usually is? I'm not talking about the worst park, tho. Maybe the second least recommended park. TIA!

I visit Josh's site each and every day. His logic on the best parks to visit is based on common sense and will rarely, if ever, lead you astray.

We have a 10 day hopper in October and plan on hitting his most recommended park at rope drop on 9 of those mornings (the other is a recommended park, but not the 'most' because we did not want to hit rope drop at HS three times) . After an afternoon break we will hop to a different park for evening entertainment. We're less concerned about crowds in the evening and primarily focus on attractions or events that don't have actual queues (shows, parades, fireworks, concerts, etc.).

The problem I see is too many people are discovering him. One thing where we do differ from his plan is taking advantage of Evening Extra Magic Hours at Magic Kingdom. In October, you almost have to do that to see MK at night because the park closes early so many other days.

Once at his most recommended park in the morning, we follow his basic premise about hitting certain major attractions first, but refrain from walking across the park just to make it happen. For example, we won't immediately leave Toy Story and run over to RNR and TOT, then rush to Star Tours. The fact those rides are spread out just means we do two rope drops at that park. Same thing with Epcot when planning Soarin and Test Track. Another thing is his touring plans 'skip' a lot of our favorites. We simply build those into the plan by not riding things multiple times.

Goofy,
So you didn't have to take advantage of EMH and were you there for rope drop? Thanks for sharing your experience, I am planning on using Josh's crowd calenders for my trip. :cool1:

In past trips the morning EMH determined which park to go to, and we always went to the park that offered it. In May I thought we would use Josh's recommendations and could not have had better results. So we slept in a little later, but still at RD for his recommended park

We are going back in 20 days and I will give you one guess who "planned" our park days. Josh is the best!

It depends on what time of year you're visiting. For example, we go in September, a low crowd month. On our arrival day, easywdw had HS as the least recommended park but we braved it anyway as it worked better for our plans. It was still very manageable. But compared to the rest of the week when we did follow Josh's recs, it was nite and day.

We have followed Josh's advice on past trips and had great days at the parks. I'm concerned about this year's trip, though. Our last day in Dec. 24, and he recommends going to MK that day. I always thought that would be the worst park to go to. Anyone have thoughts about that?

Yeah! I'm so glad you had a wonderful time! I remember going during the summer as a kid, but I'm trying to avoid it as long as I can! We're going in January and I'm using easywdw for my planning. I'm SO glad to hear it works!

What I don't understand is 7s the first week of October. It seems to me the numbers should be lower than that.
