Thumbs down to Russell Brand for picking on the Jonas Brothers at the VMA's what a low blow, 'm tired of people saying how we should more considerate of the views of other people; but then it's ok to criticsize somone for standing up for somthing that goes against what hollywood says is normal. Shame on you Mr. Brand for showing everyone he is a Bigot.
I don't care to hear are see Mr. Brand ever again and as far as his new movie, Don't even want to watch it on free demand.

and don't forget this is the same guy who got fired from MTV for dressing up as Osama Bin Laden the day after 9/11....

And I think there is something seriously wrong when we start picking on teenagers for NOT having sex. The guy was a jerk last night -- and kudos to Jordin Sparks for standing up to him!

Just to take the other side for debate purposes, that is his schtick. It's his form of comedy and it's definitely not for everyone. He is controversial by nature. He does it to get a rise. Who knows if he really meant what he said. Give it up to Jordin Sparks for also pointing out her feelings later on.

Disclaimer: I in no way endorse Russell Brand and his views or opinions. I just like to take the opposing viewpoint because I believe the best way to strengthen your opinion is to try to defend the other side. ;)

I do believe it was coming from his heart. And what he said about a Sara Palans daughter was way out of line. He says vote for Obama i'm not sure if Barack Obama cares to have suce a Bigot campaigning for him.

He can't vote for Obama, he's a Brit. That's the rub. Does anyone else remember Jesse Camp from Wanna Be a VJ? This Brand guy is his long lost brother. Mind your business freak!

YA well I thought he might be a citzen now, wow thay makes even more mad...... If you don't like us go back where you came from.

Ok here is a Brit persective:

I can't stand the man. He is obnoxious and crass, but that is his style of humor. I don't like it but i am glad that he did go up and appologise afterwards. Just remember guys this man is a 'recovering' sex addict, so in his mind what the Jonas Brothers are doing is something he couldn't even attempt. Maybe a bit of jealousy or trying to make his lifestyle choice seem better?

I don't like his style of humor, but the best way to deal with it is just turn the TV off.

That is exactly what I made my DD13 do! Why does "Hollywood" have to turn everything into a political forum? This was an awards show. People watch to see the performers sing! I couldn't believe the crude "jokes" about Sara Palin's daughter/boyfriend. When he started in on the deal with Madonna, I saw it was only going down hill. Time to turn the channel! So inappropriate for kids.

I did find him a weird choice for an awards show :confused3

And an American one too. No one in the States knows him! I mean i have learnt to tune him out, but he really isn't appropriate before 10pm.

Crikey  His BB show was on late - wouldn't expect him to be on a show for kids/teenagers :confused3 (forgot to watch it)
I think he's a prat really, doesn't do himself any favours - he could be very witty but goes off on a tangent that only has so much appeal.
Shame as we have a great history of British comedians, guess you always get one 'bad apple'.
I think the UK TV companies have had enough of him, he's now making a desperate sab at the USA - but it's not gonna happen IMHO.

In my opinion, Russell Brand's version of humor is amusing. He gets his laughs and attention by being so crude. But there is a point where it does get to be too much, especially for Americans. The thing Mr. Brand forgot was his audience. While MTV obviously aims for a demmographic of people in their late teens, early to mid-twenties...Some young children would have watched this year for one main reason and that is the Jonas Brothers. MTV should have been expecting a younger demographic and a family demographic but obviously wasn't prepaired for Mr. Brand's humor.

I believe he gets some brownie points for apologizing for his behavior within an hour as opposed to days or weeks later.

I had already made my daughter turn it off by that point, but I thought I read where he apologized, but then made another joke about it, so it wasn't quite a sincere apology. (Again, I didn't see it, so I might be wrong.) I have a feeling prompted him to do the apology.

He probably was, but most apologies are in this case. He didn't let it drag out into this whole big ordeal like other little banters have been over the past years as a result of the VMAs.
I think the apology was sincere, but this is just what I think. But being a young, crude comedian...He has to get that last jab in before he continues.

I don't think he'll get to be someone featured on Comedy Central because he is too crude for Americans, he should just stick to Judd Apatow's (sp) crude, horrible movies like "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" (sorry to those who like it.) As long as he leaves Mr. Brand out of the good ones (i.e. 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up)...I'm happy. lol

I think you're right about that. We Tivo'd it; after about a half hour, we shut it off and then went back and fast-forwarded through him. Only stopped and watched whenever they showed the Jonas Brothers. (yes, I have a 12 yr.old DD!)

I watched a bit and he was terrible. Wow, at least if your going to make some controversial jokes, make em, you know, funny?

Somtimes it's good to get away from political stuff, I mean it's good to be involved in the process, but sometimes it's nice to have a break from it.

This is exactly what i was thinking too! I said they need to drop him in the middle of times square when JB is visiting TRL so he can get mauled by angry fangirls.
