jon03015 (Austin) MAW/GTKTW, Waiting for a date

Trying to get caught up on everything! Wow, so much has happened! Continuing to keep you in our prayers and hoping for a steady recovery so you can start planning the Wish Trip!!! Hoping the donor is well on his way to a speedy recovery!:grouphug::hug:

Hi ! Joining in from over at the MAW thread !

Looking forward to hearing more as you go through the MAW process ! :goodvibes

Just joining in on your story. I'm still very new here myself so I'm enjoying everyones journies. How is your son doing now? Any updates? Oh and by the way....what a cutie pie! Thank you so much for sharing.

Just joining in on your report. What a blessing it is to find a donor! How is he doing? recovering and enjoying life I hope!

Austin is still doing great. We are waiting for his dates (:goodvibes super excited!). We asked for some combination of the last 2 weeks of January 2013. They just need the form from the Dr to approve traveling then they will try and coordinate the dates. I will post them as soon as we get them!

Wow, I don't think I could wait that long. LOL! Our choices where February, May & October. I'm so glad we got the days we wanted.

The time will go quickly! We waited a LONG time to go and it was wonderful for Lisa to be a bit older so she could remember the trip. I am so excited for you!!! You will have LOTS of time to plan and dream! :goodvibes

Hi!
Did you guys go yet or get your dates?

:wizard:

I totally blanked and didn't put our dates on here!!!! Yes! We got dates!!!! We are going January 19-29. SO stoked! We asked for an extension since we have family that will be in the area. We are going to visit for a few days with them. Austin keeps asking if we are going tomorrow. LOL. We are taking a loong time getting there, but now that we have dates we can start to plan! I think Austin would really like flying one of the little planes, going to gatorland, and the pirate dinner show. I really can't believe that we get to go to the parks AND have other options. We are going to do one park day then an off day to do GTKW and some of the other fun things offered. If anyone has any tips you are more than welcomed to share!:cheer2:

Supporting our little buddy!

Austin has been doing extremely well (where is the wood? knock on it!!!) and is working his way to taking all of his meds in PILL form. He really is my hero!!! Taking pills at age 4, good job buddy! It was a challenge but we practiced with M&M's and orange juice (what a nice combo, huh??).

But our really big news is that he has gone for 3 weeks without full feeds on his feeding tube and most days he doesn't use it at all! It is amazing and we feel very blessed. I hope that it keeps going!

Right now he has a cold that is turning into something more and will probably have to go on anti-biotics, but other than that he is growing and putting on weight (2lbs in one month). I keep telling him he has to eat lots and lots so he can grow big to go on the rides at Disney World! LOL! Yes, we told him that we are going, but he really doesn't understand when (everything right now is always tomorrow; Christmas, Brithdays, everything!!). So I think that we will surprise him and have a pizza party maybe a night or two before we leave. We are sooo excited! I have posted our itinerary. Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions. I really want to space park days out and have down time to enjoy ourselves especially at GTKTW!!!

We were thinking that we might go back to GTKW for lunch to hang out and take naps. But maybe we should come back to rest an hour or two before the GTKW party starts then go to that and see if the kids want to go back to the parks??? I just don't want to over do it for them, I mean it is supposed to be fun!!! Or maybe we will just take each day as it comes. :goodvibes

You have an adorable family !

Thats a really full schedule ! I know the few parties that we attended .. the boys were ready for bed shortly after .. I think we spent an hour at the Christmas party and a little longer at the Halloween party. But after a full day at the parks and then the party .. we were tired !
As far as leaving the park in the afternoon to go back to GKTW for naps and such .. it's a lot of work getting in and out of the parks .. it takes more time than you might think. Plus once you get into the mood .. it's hard to leave ! I'd try to stay at the parks as long as possible and maybe just head back to GKTW early and call it a day. We did that a few days and the boys were in bed around 9.
Be sure to visit the Wish Lounge in Magic Kingdom and the VIP lounge in Epcot .. they were great for cooling off and taking a nice break. We really loved the one in Epcot !!

Thanks for stopping by! I think you're right, it is a very full schedule! I even cut some things out before I posted it. LOL. When it comes to the Disney parks I think we will go, see how things are going, and go with the flow. If we are having a really great time then we don't have to leave. If the kids are melting down then we can take advantage of the lounges and/or go to GTKTW and see if they want to return in the evening. As far as my whole itinerary I hope we can go and do things we feel like doing that day, if we miss some of the extra things then that's okay. Maybe a list with our main priority things to do (like the BBB, and lunch with the Disney Jr cast) for each family member and as long as we can accomplish those then we're good. I have realized that as much as I want to arrange it there is no way to do EVERYTHING! Sigh.

Yeah there IS a lot to see and do ... and no .. There is no way to do it all ! But it's sure fun trying !!

I notice you have lunch at GKTW listed several times. They don't actually serve lunch there except at Katie's Kitchen, and its about a 25 minute drive back to the village from the parks, not counting parking. I'd also considering since you have little ones, skipping Universal studios. If you really want to do it, go there the same day you're at Islands of Adventure, because they are right next to each other. My kids were too small to ride most of the rides at Universal.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah I think that the days that we are at the parks we will probably stay there for lunch. And as far as Universal Studios goes I think that we will just go to Adventure Island, we might go to Harry Potter World that sameday but not sure.

Thanks for that tip too! Yeah I need to figure out what is in what park. LOL.:rotfl2: I do plan on getting a reservations for everything. I want to take my daughter to BBB then to the castle in Epcot for breakfast, do you think that is doable?

What an amazing story:hug: Prayers coming your way from Alabama:)
