jon benet's killer needs to be killed if convicted

Should the murderer of Jon Benet Ramsey be Executed if found GUILTY?

  • Yes! Execution public!

  • Yes! Standard execution!

  • No! I'm a bleeding heart and hate to see justice done!

  • I don't want to take a position on this, but I would choose 1 or 2 and not 3.

do you think that the murderer of jon benet ramsey should be executed if found guilty?

I was going to vote until I saw the choices. Why make a poll and then insult anyone who is against the dealth penalty? :confused3 Justice can be served in many ways. How is justice served when the guilty spend decades on death row?

If the death penalty is supposed to be a deterrent (I don't think it is) than we should kill the guilty in the same manner that they killed their victim.

justice isn't served by anybody spending years on death row. the constitution requires a swift trial and a speedy resolution. it's not generally enforced.

killing the killer in the same way that the killer killed would kill the constitutional protection against cruel and unusual punishment, don't you agree? however, killing the killer in a state sanctioned killing, ie the death penalty is fine.

just my opinion.

Yes, it would be unconstitutional, and I know that it will never happen. I just think that murders get to die to easily, the law shows them far more compasion than they ever showed their victims.

Wow, even though I do not oppose the death penalty...I think I will reserve judgement until the facts come in.

It was just on the news that he confessed to killing her.

This case was such big news, I have to think a life sentence in a prison with a lot of angry jailmates is a better idea. I really think he deserves a little "prison justice".

I didn't vote because I wouldn't kill him but I'm not a bleeding heart. I'm opposed to the death penalty for other reasons. I think it is more of a punishment to put a child murderer/rapist in a general population prison and let nature take its course. Putting him to sleep (a privilege we don't even give our suffering good citizens) is WAY too easy.

I don't really believe in an after-life and I think that once you're dead, where is the punishment? You're dead. Big deal. That is getting off easy compared to a life in prison.

I also believe that child rapists should be put in the GP segment of a prison and let nature take its course.

Society as a whole must rise above the base emotions when the individual cannot. Otherwise we lose our humanity. Hence, no death penalty.

I don't consider that bleeding heart logic.

I could've sworn I heard on the news this morning that they're charging him with 2nd degree murder---I can't be sure but I'd assume that wouldn't make an automatic execution case?

I totally agree with this idea!!! I think killing lets people out far too easy (and I do believe in an after life). I always say they should suffer in prison while working for the state in such a way that they are not a tax burdon to anyone. Suffer and work your butt off for the rest of your life. I think that would be *far* more fair than letting them die and not have to deal with inmates and maybe any guilt they will evenetually feel for what they did wrong.

Somehow I don't see "let him suffer for the rest of his life" quite so bleeding heart ;)

I also refused to vote because of the false choices. I'd like to say that the last time I posted on the old Debate Board was on a thread about Jon Benet. The people on that thread were convinced that Ramseys were guilty, and when I expressed a different view based on facts, the OP replied, "Oh, Brother," and posted a "roll eyes" smilie, making it clear she thought I was a "bleeding heart" fool.

I'm against the death penalty because I don't trust the police to make all the correct decisions when trying to solve a case, I don't trust the DA, who is both lawyer and politician to present all evidence to the jury (or even share that evidence with the defense), and I don't believe all juries make the right decision in every case.

I don't think my views make me a bleeding heart anymore than a pro-death penalty person is a slack-jawed, knuckle-dragging, I-trust-you-you're-the-government sucker.

This poll is quite insulting.

People have jumped to conclusions all along. Including me. I think I'll wait this one out.

I think he should be put in prison, let the prisoners deal with him and THEN execute him! He has other child molestation etc things on his plate, he should not be free to see the light of day again.

not voting because this not really a poll.

While I am not opposed to the death penalty, I do agree that in many cases, it gets the murderer off easy.

Someone like Ted Bundy, fry him.

But someone like Susan Smith, I think she should have been put in solitary confinement for life and made to watch videos of her boys 24/7.

I am for a punishment that fits the crime.

I think rapists should be castrated.

Murders should be executed.

Now, I was very young (jon bennet was only a few months older than me) when this happened. But that is how I think that criminals should be punished. So if he did infact do it, then yes, he should be killed.

I was also going to reply until I saw the poll options.
I don't believe in the death penalty for many reasons, including the belief that judgement and punishment are the jobs of g-d.
Further, I believe in a compassionate and forgiving g-d - so to put someone to death would be the ultimate act of non-punishment
