Jon and Kate tonight!

I'm like the PP - I can't stand to watch her have a meltdown over the ice cream mess. It breaks my heart to see someone get so fussy over something like that when you should be enjoying your kids' happy faces covered in goo!

That's a funny show. I watched on the weekend, when I noticed that my Tivo recorded it. (It records any show that has Disney World in the description)

Kate cracks me up, mostly because I would have reacted exactly the same way. I only have one son but he was never allowed to have Ice Cream cones, Cotton Candy or any thing that had major Sticky Mess potential when we went places when he was little.
At the age of the 3, I would have given him the Ice Cream only if we were sitting at a table or if I was holding it and spooning it into him. Just like Kate.

When I see a little kid with an ice cream covered face and shirt, I shudder.

My mother always thought I was over-reacted about this too.. but I never had to deal with a gross sticky child when I was out and about.

I was the same way! We were actually laughing the other day when we went out for ice cream and DD ordered a cone - and DH joked, "wow, Mom let you have that?!" She's 14 now! :rotfl2:
Of course, I created a monster, and she can never have sticky hands now. :rolleyes1

Poor DD misses the WDW episode of John & Kate Plus 8 every time we catch a marathon, so when I saw this post I decided to let her stay up and watch it (hey, it's summer and I only have 2 kids so we can make exceptions like this ;) )

Poor thing is about half asleep :rotfl:

Have to agree, sometimes Kate makes me crazy with her OCD- anyone see the crayon factory episode? But she has good qualities too- patience with the whining of the older 2 girls, for example. Man that would drive me nuts :faint:

That episode cracked me up - because I could never stand "messy projects' when DD was young. I guess she was deprived, but she turned out ok. :lmao:

Ok I haven't gotten to the ice cream melt down yet, but I am freaking out over the fact that Kate was just standing outside at the gas station with bare feet. EW gross, but she won't go bare foot in a hotel room? That just doesn't make any sense!

What I notice most about this show is how few people there are the park. Did anyone else notice that????? I keep telling my family..."Look, there's no one there! It's so uncrowded!!!!" Does anyone know what time of year it was filmed????? I mean really, it's amazing!

this episode is worth it just to see Kate have a meltdown when the kids' ice cream begins to, well, melt down!!!!!

And then some, my DW loves that show and I can not stand Kate. Did anyone see this weeks where John got hairs plugs. My head was hurting from just looking at it.

At one point in the episode (or maybe an earlier one??), there is a shot of their calender and it shows them going to WDW in July (I am thinking later in the month and possibly into August). Maybe they were at the parks super early or had different areas closed off while they rode and filmed something? I'm not sure but it did seem fairly deserted for July.

I had to turn away a number of times! :worried: Just didn't look like it was worth the PAIN! (all I could think of was: chance INFECTION so close to your BRAIN! :scared1: )

I got the impression they had a special morning in the park - like their own EMH. I don't know that you could bring a film crew in and have crowds of people in your shots. (Kate also made a comment about being up so early to eat breakfast...) I think that's why they show so little actually IN the park. The only time you see lots of people is at the parade.

Wow - where to begin? We watch their program on occasion and are continually amazed with Kate. Melt-downs, OCD, obsessiveness, "big brat"...whatever you call it, she puts on quite a "show." Jon seems like a good guy and a great dad, and I respect ALL his efforts.

My DD(17) and I watch the show all of the time. We love it. This is the third time that I've seen this particular show. DH had to sit through it on New Year's Eve. :rotfl: I love the organization that Kate does, and I love (some of) the melt downs, because I've been there, done that (5 under 10, just not all at once). In fact, my most infamous melt down occurred at MGM. I wanted to do the rides, DH got us "stuck" during the parade. Ooooooohhhh. Turns out the kids wanted to watch the parade. I calmed down and relaxed. Vacations have always been different since then. When I see Kate . . . guess who I see? :rolleyes1

I felt SOOOOOO sorry for Alexis, because she really needed that ice cream, and Mom took it away from her. Part of being of kid is getting sticky and dirty. . . and being hosed off! A walk to the restroom would have cleaned the kids up. (But I walk in the hotel room with my bare feet, too. In fact, little ones have slept on the floor (on a blanket) before.)

Yes, they went in late July into August 1 or 2, so probably they went in as EMH on their own (7 or 8-9 a.m.)

Oh, and I loved that Maddie was true to form and didn't like her Mickey Ears when it came time for Chef Mickey's! That's "my" girl! :rotfl2: :goodvibes

Kate isn't an issue with me, it's Maddy. My Gawd, someone needs to do something about that girl. In fact just last night when we were watching the show my husband says "I really hate her. I mean, I know thats weird since she's like five but I just really hate her." LOL:happytv:

I wish there had been more Disney and less travel, but I still watch it every time it's on!

I think her "ice cream meltdown" was a little over the top, but ask my children and my DH about my meltdown when my camera batteries died at MGM and my extra rechargeables didn't work. I was flipping out and it was so dumb...

DH says, "Calm down, we can buy you new batteries"

I say, "NO!! They are too expensive in the park" and I was ready to cry over stupid batteries.

Luckily DH is very good at dealing with my "meltdowns" so he scooted me into a store and we bought batteries. But it's been almost 3 years since that "meltdown" and if my batteries die now, DH and DD's will say, "Don't flip out like you did at Disney!!" :rolleyes1

Moral to that long story....I'm sure I would have possibly flipped out too if I had 8 kids and they had ice cream on them in front of the Princesses!! ;)

This was my first time watching the show and I was really impressed with the huge van. I also believed that she overreacted on the ice cream. One of our best picture is our dd (age 2 at the time) enjoying her Mickey Mouse ice cream. She should had taken the kids to one of the water play areas. I also could not understand how someone that organized would not have taken a change of clothes.

It was an interesting show that I watched becuase it was at WDW, but I won't watch it again. The mother got on my nerves.

I noticed and thought the same thing!

Dumbo and the teacups.

It's a great episode. I just want more disneyworld! Kate seems to really love WDW like all of us. I wonder if she's a Dis board lurker.... Hi Kate! We love you! :wave2:

:confused3 :rotfl:

Jon and Kate used to go to WDW all the time, I watched an interview they did and it showed pictures of them before kids going to WDW alot and again when Mady and Cara were little.

I just love that show. The kids are too cute and Jon and Kate crack me up

I had it record to my DVR during a Disney World search too; I'm obsessed over planning our trip in January! I've seen bits and pieces of the show before but never watched a whole episode. For me though, the traveling was the most interesting part - strictly from a logistical standpoint! There are 6 of us (four kids, two adults) who will be driving to WDW next January and I was DYING to see how they pulled it off all the way from PA!

The no bare feet in the motel room and the ice cream had me absolutely SQUIRMING... I let my kids get as sticky and comfortable as they wish on vacation though.

Case in point: A pic of our youngest girls at another theme park last month.

We're parents of the year. :rotfl2:

Bless those two for even ATTEMPTING such an endevor with all those babies!! That's brave. :thumbsup2

I love Jon & Kate plus 8. I got started on this show because my Tivo is also set to record anything that related to Disney World. One day I was checking my tivo and I saw "Jon & Kate plus 8" and I was like what is this? I played it and when saw the intro about how Jon and Kate explain they have 8 kids. I was just like wow and they are going to drive to WDW?!?

I thought it was a great episode, even though I wish it could be longer. I liked watching how they had to pack and get everyone in the car. I don't think I could ever do it.

I like Kate and even though she has a lot of quirks, she's a really good mother. She has a lot of patience and very organized.

TLC is a Television station that stands for The Learning Channel.

T.

Ps-BTW- I love Jon & Kate. Kate is my hero-I use so many of her ideas on tons of things from organization and healthy eating to planning a party and potty training. All of the kids are adorable but that little Maddi is a spit fire for sure; she reminds me sooo much of my 3yr old Madison. Must be a Maddi thing!

It is amazing that Jon and Kate took their family to WDW but don't be fooled they had a lot of help... from friends and from CM's. If you watch the video closely you can see the CM's assisting them. For instance the ice cream melt down... did you notice the CM who was passing out the ice cream? It was delivered to them... they never had to stand in line like the rest of us. Also they had their own special time with the Princesses in the rose garden with plenty of extra photograhers... Finally, did you notice as they watched the parade that they were sitting in a roped off section... more than likely saved especially for them. Don't get me wrong they needed all the help they received and deservedly so.
