Well I wouldn't do it, either, but it was a MISTAKE. A dumb, inconsequential, not-a-big-deal mistake. All Kate had to do was call Jodi and say, "I appreciate you so much for watching the kids. But could you please not give them gum in the future, it got on some of the clothing and Collin's bear and it's hard to get out. Thank you, and thanks again for all you do for us." That's what I would have said. Are some of you really saying you'd get THAT PISSED over such a little mistake in the scheme of things that you'd be nasty to a FREE babysitter, and a close family member no less? If so, shame on you. (Yes, I think that's crazy.)

Isn't that EXACTLY what Kate did? She never yelled at Jodi. Yes, we saw her freak out when she first discovered the gum, which I don't blame her; but she didn't call her up and rip into her. I think some posters are buying into the story Jodi's sister is pushing on her blog - which is only one side. It was never shown on tv that Kate was nasty to Jodi over this incident. I never saw her get "that PISSED" as some of you are claiming.

:thumbsup2

They've knocked holes in her walls?

Yep, they sure did...and destroyed several of her kids' bedrooms with dress up mess, and seemed to really enjoy being at Jodi's. I bet they miss their Aunt, Uncle and four cousins.

The gun comment earlier was baffling. We all agree Jodi took care of the kids because she loves them, and Jon and Kate. I'm sure Kevin does too.

I wasn't claiming it takes "common sense" to give gum to a bunch of three year olds; the common sense and logic being needed was referring to appreciating the people who love you, make your life easier by sacrificing their own time, and choosing your battles wisely.

Did you see it the first time around? I have witnessed editing on the rerun versions. I'm not sure about this episode.:confused3

Well if they are knocking holes in walls and destroying things, it sounds like Jodi isn't very good at looking after them.

Regardless, if the show is her "LIFE" and her life is the "SHOW" is she that stupid that she didn't think Jodi would see it and that Jodi's feeling may be hurt? Oh yeah, wait its all about KATE :happytv:

She was extremely rude and ungrateful during her & Jon's interview at the end of the original episode. I believe alot of it was edited the second time around.

I'm waiting for certain people to tell me I was wrong and misconstrued blah blah blah, and everyone is entitled to a bad day etc. I still know what I saw :sad2: :lmao: :rolleyes1

 my kids have dinged walls in my plain sight. things happen. there are 8 kids and one grown up. Because, unlike Kate ... it appears that Jodi has no help when she's watching the children.

Dont' forget Aunt Jodi has 4 children of her own.

Kate calls Jodi, and is CLEARLY irritated on the phone... it was evident in the tone of her voice. Kate didn't yell at anyone, I don't think. Raised her voice? Maybe.

It doesn't matter (to me) that Kate wasn't nasty TO Jodi (that we saw on the air). She was nasty ABOUT Jodi, on national TV. Jodi is her FAMILY. And I think Kate totally overreacted. It was ridiculous how she was going on about using organic peanut butter  to get the gum out and throwing away the lovey. It was made-for-TV drama. Unnecessary. And probably set up.

It wasn't made clear from the episode who actually made the whole. I believe one of the suspects was Jodi's little girl too.

Well, she actually did pretty much just this. She was very nice to Jodi on the phone.

I won't say you're wrong, but people ARE entitled to have a bad day once in awhile. We can't all be perfect.

I understand, I probably have them 'more than once in a while' ;) but considering according to them and the sheeple, the cameras are not there all the time. It seems to me that the FEW times they are there, its far from perfect almost all of the time. I have to wonder what the cameras are not there to witness :confused3 .

Although I will say they must be reading the internet 'cause it seems they are doing alot of damage control lately.

I must confess I basically just watch for the controversy now (I've 'unsubscribed' to this post so many times) it just isn't 'realistic' anymore and I do feel bad for the people they don't allow in their lives anymore and more importantly the beautiful kids.

:scared1:

I don't think any of us are "sheeple" . Those of use who do take up for Kate don't defend her blindly. We recognize that she has flaws, like all people. Yet for some reason many want to hold her up to a higher standard

ETA: and why doesa it make one a sheeple to say that the cameras aren't there all the time. Are the swim teachers also sheeple since in an article one of them said that the cameras were only at the beach house the first week?

no sheeple and no bashers. right. I disagree.

now, I will say the blindly devoted Kate followers are usually drive-bys .. LOL. They don't stick around for the discussion. Same with the bashers. The truly intent on ruining Kate posters don't come along very often.

I believe KATE expects and wants people to hold her to a higher standard.

And, I say - RIGHT ON to this comment!

And, again, Jodi is a grown-up; if she ever had a problem watching Kate's kids, she could have declined. Or did I miss the episode where Kate holds the gun to her head and makes her do all of those things?

Well, you are sort of proving my point exactly. Jodi lovingly and willingly watched all of those kids for Jon and Kate. She went out of her way to help. I only have three kids and when someone offers to watch (or agrees to watch) all three of them for me, I am sooooo grateful. If something came up that bugged me, like finding gum on their clothes if I don't normally allow gum, I'd overlook it. How could they know what my rules are? Is a little bit of gum worth a family riff? Hardly.

When I was a young mom I would freak out over things like that. No good ever came from it. I'd look like a lunatic and the babysitter, who was doing me a favor, would feel bad and be less likely to want to babysit my kids ever again. Now that I am an older, more experienced mom, I know what battles are worth fighting. Gum on a teddy bear and a sock is far from a worthy battle.

Now, if I have a beef with something that happened in the care of a family member, I either bring it up nicely, or let it go. Mostly, I let it go. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

You beat me to it, but that's what I saw, too. I believe she said "Would you do me a favor, no more gum?" or something along those lines. I remember because I use that line, too, when I'm trying to be civil when I'm PO'd.

If the show is her life, why would she censor herself? Granted most of us have that inner voice that tells us to wait a minute, think about that before you spew it, but sometimes we don't listen. If there's a camera around, too bad if we rethink it. It's already out there and recorded.

 Sorry, the Kate in me had to point that out...sort of proved my point exactly. Hehe!! OK, sorry! No offense!

I don't think the gum caused the family conflict.

While I don't blindly believe what the GWoPpos and their sheeple say, I do believe money may have been the main factor if there is, in fact, an actual issue (not a staged one) between the families. Money and friendship don't mix. I don't lend/borrow money or go into business with friends or family. Too messy. If others were to be compensated for being on the show, that should have been laid out in their contracts.
