Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

I wasn't exactly referring to the reason he was covering up the CC, as much as whether it was a TLC CC he was using. I'd love to know if he has an open CC account with them, to be able to spend as much as he wants in any of these kinds of stores. I totally understand him covering up the card though, I would have done the same. My curiosity though is killing me. Can you imagine having the freedom to just go into any given store and spend, spend, spend!:)

I suspect Jen, or whoever the producer is, was right off camera to take that card back ;)

And so what if it was a TLC CC? I don't have any problems with TLC paying for things that they do on the show. Without these extra's there would be NO SHOW!

Thanks for the heads up on next week's episode everybody.

So if it is the season finale so to speak, when does the new season begin?

Whoa..I have no problem with them having a TLC CC, I want this show to continue forever, I love it! And if thats they way they do it, then bring it on:thumbsup2

Ok, as I've said before, I've stopped watching the show. For some crazy reason I still read this thread occasionally though. Anyway, While my daughter was flipping the channeles around the other day, she stopped at JK8 to watch the girls swimming in a pool. From what I gathered from the small amount I watched, it was Beth and Bobs place. I really haven't seen many shows, but I was like    What do those people do for a living? That was the nicest house! and the view!

Are they still friends with Beth and Bob? Or is that another relationship squashed by the show?

I know - their house looked GORGEOUS! I don't know if it was ever revealed what they did for a living.

As for whether they are all still friends -- well, of course there are rumors but no one knows for sure. They just haven't been shown these season; I think that is more due to the fact that alot of the shows were family outings this year.

Since, neither Kate nor Jon have a job to go to in the morning, I wondered why they didn't just wait for a clear night to campout. Camping in the rain is the WORST!
They decided to do it because it had cleared up and the sun had come out. Jon said he checked the weather map and it looked clear so they didn't expect it to rain. If they knew it was going to rain I don't think they would have done it.

When I watched the show, I got the impression that they didn't camp out that night because TLC "forced" them to, but rather it stopped raining long enough for them to enjoy the backyard and the kids were super excited. Kate mentioned several times that she was hoping it would stop raining because the little kids especially were going nuts. Jon even started to put the tents up in the garage so the kids could play even if it was raining...

The Leapster thing was a bit over the top, but it isn't like it's something that Kate wouldn't advocate anyway. They're educational. It keeps the kids occupied when it's raining outside. It isn't like TLC suddenly forced her to do a commercial for that camera she hated! *winks*

I loved the kids eating the smores. All their little comments were adorable!

Finally watched the Camping episode.

This thread as tainted my mind about them. When I was watching with DBF and I saw Jon pull out the CC I said to him "see he DOES pay for things not just TLC!!" Then I come on here and people say "that was a TLC CC" like any of us really know. :confused3

Anyone wonder where Kate was when Jon was feeding them all roasted marshmallows? I love how when Kate asked what happened Jon said "you'll see" haha.

ITA with everyone regarding the V-Tech. Product placement is one thing but basically advertising it is another. Not to mention, it only had 2 controllers. How did 8 children not fight over who got to play first?! I'm sure they did, we just didn't see it.

Good episode though, loved it! :goodvibes

As for the TLC CC, did you ever watch "What Not to Wear"? The person getting the makeover gets a "Bank of America credit card with your name on it in the amount of $5,000". Maybe that's the deal the Gosselins have too -- not necessarily a $5,000 limit, but a credit card with their name on it courtesy of TLC.

(For the record, I have no idea if Jon used a TLC credit card or not. But, as he said, at least they can use the equipment again).

I think you just made the point that many of those against the show have made over and over again! It started out as a documentary about how this large family with two sets of multiples makes it through REAL LIFE! Now, not so much.

But you really can't blame Jon and Kate for that. Obviously, the first documentaries were popular; and TLC wanted more (as did the public).

And I am sure if it continued as a documentary it would long since be off the air. The true fans enjoy watching the kids (and J&K) and enjoy seeing them do all these fun things. That is what makes the show. There are only so many times they can show the family eat dinner, do laundry etc.

they actualy aired a show where the family did their own laundry?????:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: (sorry, i could'nt resist:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ).

actualy-i loved the more documentary format and probably would still be watching it if it had remained in that format (it's why i still enjoy 'little people big world'-i mean, yeah they do the vacation thing, but it seems like their episodes show much more of what their daily life is like).

I don't recall anyone having a problem with TLC paying for the camping items? Did I miss something?

Then why mention it at all?

well, when I mentioned it, it was in response to a poster commenting on the production company reading blogs/message boards ... they show Jon actually paying for something. That's been a criticism (not from me, I have a different issue with their stuff ... specifically the Gymboree clothes ;) ) - that they just get stuff, free trips, etc. They're never shown actually paying for things. Showing Jon paying for something could mean that someone's actually reading comments. Who knows? They could read this thread?

I just assume that TLC paid for the stuff. Why wouldn't they? It's their show.

I agree. Which IMO makes the whole was it Jons or TLC credit card a little silly.

true.

BUT. If it were disclosed that Jon was paying for the stuff, then I could see where people might have a problem ... just playing Devil's Advocate here, because I believe/assume that TLC paid for the stuff.... I could see where those people who do nothing but look for things to complain about say that if Jon paid for all that stuff, should he be spending so much money on an activity that they'd clearly not do again (if Kate has anything to do with it :rotfl: ) when they have 8 children. Now, I totally get that it's no one's business what JK8 do with their money. If they want to spend hundreds of dollars on camping suff, then that's up to them. But I could see where that could be problematic to some. Especially when, in the past (and I don't think it's been that long ago), they have collected love offerings for college funds.

With that said, he could have paid for it and then deducted it as a work expense on his taxes.

I've read way too much GWoP. I can see how they'd spin this to death. LOLOLOL.

Hi everyone--wanted to add really that how much longer can the show stay on. The kids are almost at kindergarten age. So, to school they go. Now if Jon and Kate decide to homeschool their children (to possibly keep the show going) I can see the haters going bonkers.

Just wanted to add that I love the show, watch it every single time I catch it on. Those kids are just so darn cute:lovestruc
