:thumbsup2 Why on earth would I be jealous of the Gosselins? I have a husband that can actually support our family on his own. We don't need to sell our children, their images, or their privacy to make enough money to have "matching" furniture.I don't have OCD. My husband has spine. We respect each other and treat each other kindly. We have not lost all our friends and family over money. Our children grandparents ARE involved in our lives. We haven't sold our souls.

Remind me, WHAT is there to be jealous about?

Oh I forgot! My husband doesn't need hairplugs, AND he is not so vain he would get them in the fist place, AND if he had to have them to save his life, he would have the decency to not do it on national TV, I wouldn't leave the kids for 3 days for it, and he would pay for it rather than selling his family out for it.

the son with the glasses is my favorite. it's so funny when he tries to talk about that animal book of his

Whoa, tiger, getting a little riled up, are we??

The clinic offered the plugs to Jon for free. I'm pretty sure most people would take them up on the offer. The kids also got to spend the three days with other family members, which is fun for them, I'd guess.

eww. No, most people wouldn't take them up on it. It is all so icky. They have sold their lives (and most distubingly, their childrens lives) out to get these offers of free things. Why aren't they ashamed to even be on TV.? What have they gained if in the end they can't share it with anyone? They eve nhave to put signs on their lawn telling people to keep away.

And I definitely wouldn't have left my SICK children to travel across country for hairplugs.

I kept thinking... are they kidding? Is this for real??? :headache:

I say this again... even if you're not christian, these are great words of wisdom:

"What good is it to gain the whole world if you lose your own soul?"

Nothing is really free. He paid alot for that hair; just not money. The kids may have had more fun if they hadn't been throwing up. I'm sure, Jodi(?) had fun with twelve kids for a few days. Wonder how much help Figure 8 provided her while they were filming Jon and his surgery? I don't know... it's all so silly. I truly hope the kids are okay with all of this. I agree with pp, they'll probably be humiliated by the show some day, if not already.

is that the surgery where they left the "very sick" (their words, not mine) children with Jodi, who also had sick children?

If the children were so sick, why didn't he reschedule the surgery? It wasn't a life-saving procedure ... that's what I've always wondered.

I couldn't imagine having a sign in my yard telling everyone to go away.
We have neighbor kids running in and out of our yard and house every single day. I wouldn't have it any other way. We love the sense of community we have with the families in our neighborhood... and how our kids are practically siblings with everyone else here (just like when I was growing up).

.

ugh...that is the neighborhood of my nightmares. Just because I have children doesn't mean I want other kids at my house....especially little ones. I hated when my kids were little and had friends over....now that they are teens I don't mind it at all, but I would rather stick a hot poker in my eye than have a bunch of neighborhood little kids in my yard/house.

as I've been looking at some of the archived pages from the JK8 site, watched an old episode earlier today ... and reading comments from people who now feel so disillusioned by Jon & Kate ... I think that is a perfect scripture passage.

Jon & Kate seemed so much happier in the early days, thankful, appreciative of what had been given to them. It's evident in their actions on the TV show and their writing on the website.

It wasn't even that long ago, either. It didn't take long for them to become what they are today.

Um no they wouldn't. My husband has been getting balder and balder since his early 20's. I had that show on and he thought it was the most ridiculous thing to do. Especially when you have to fly across the country and leave your sick babies behind.

You know..just because it isn't something that you would do, doesn't make it wrong. And yes, they left sick children, but they left them with family...that's not a big issue for me. I've been responsible for my sick nieces/nephews/cousins on numerous occasions.

OK, let me rephrase...most people who were looking to have that kind of procedure would take them up on the offer.

Do you honestly think they knew these free things would come their way? Yes, the money would be good, they may get TLC to cough up some change for outings, etc., but who does that thinking "I bet a plastic surgeon's wife will watch and give me a free tummy tuck..."

Even if they hadn't done the show, they would still have received an outpouring of donations and a lot of press. It comes with the territory of having a large number of multiples.

I was also thinking that someone mentioned that her husband worked for a living to support their family, etc., etc. Can you imagine how many hours one parent would have to work in order to make the money to support a family of ten?? I'm willing to bet the poster who said that doesn't have a large family to support. I know how much I work to support my small family, and I still don't get to spend as much time doing family things as I'd like. It's pretty smart that they've found a way to earn a very good living and still get to be at home a lot of the time.

All that being said...
I could be completely off the mark with what I think there family dynamic is, but so can each of you posting on this board and others. The only things we know that have actually happened in their family are the things we've seen with our own eyes on the show. The articles, blogs, videos, mystery posters, etc. are all hearsay.

you are right ... BUT. Just having a large number of multiples doesn't mean you're guaranteed donations, does it? Wouldn't you have to work that angle? Maybe not, I don't know. I only know people with twins and triplets, and they live like the rest of us. LOL.

And look at the McCaugheys and the Dilleys. We've talked about them before on this thread. They do yearly updates and are largely out of the spotlight. They chose how many endorsements, how much press, etc. was reasonable for their family. I find it interesting that the family people usually compare the Gosselins to is the Duggars - the only common denominators being having a TV show, and twins.

I agree with that, in theory ... it is good Jon & Kate have found a way to support their family. It's all the baggage that comes with it that bothers me.

What would they have done if there wasn't a TV show? They surely wouldn't starve... Kate is a nurse, Jon has IT skills... they would work it out like other families in this country.

She absolutely showed her stomach hoping to get a free tummy tuck...then asked for a free breast lift and recuperated at the dr.'s house too. As you probably know, the dr. told her to invest in a better bra. This stuff was not completely by chance; by family accounts, she was obsessed with the Dilleys and McCaugheys. No, I don't know this to be fact. Yes it is a fact she had fertility treatments in her early 20s after being married for only a couple months. Not the norm.

No way. I do not think "most people" take them up on it. Kate's tummy tuck was something that I think most people agree was completely understandable. Her stomach was basically deformed and a doctor offered to fix it. I was happy for her, in that case. But the teeth whitening and hair plugs made them seem like opportunists. They'll jump at anything if it's free.

I don't think the kids had fun with "other family members" either, because they were sick as dogs. They didn't just have the sniffles, they had fevers and were throwing up like crazy. Sick three year olds do not want Auntie and Uncle, they want and need their Mommy. My kids are 11, 10, and 6 and they still cling on me when they don't feel good. I would not ever leave kids that were that sick to be cared for by someone else. Not only is it totally horrible for the caretakers, it's awful for the kids.

Or because they asked her to show it. Again, neither you nor I know anything for a fact.

Also, if she knew she had PCOS before she was married, it's completely logical that she would have known she'd need to do fertility treatments. I may have PCOS. I'm undergoing testing. If I have it, I'll know that I won't be able to conceive conventionally, if at all. My DS is not my biological child. I may not be able to have one (or six if that's what God chooses to give me) without fertility, and I know that in my early twenties and being single.

You must have missed my rephrase...that's ok. I said most people who were looking to have that procedure done would take it if offered.

Weren't they related to the dentist somehow? Am I thinking of something else?

If you watch the episode, the kids aren't rolling around in pain. Sure, they have some coughing, sick moments, but it also seemed like they enjoyed having the cousins and family over at their house.

We all see what we want to see in the show. I watched this weeks show with an anti-JK eye, and it was easy to pick out things I could tear down if I chose. I also can see it from the "sheeple" point-of-view where everything is dandy and the family is perfect. That was a little harder. I usually like to watch it from my own perspective, noticing the sweet moments between the kids and their parents and others and laughing at the ridiculousness of some of Kate and Jon's expressions/outbursts. I don't know. Maybe I just like to be have a more positive outlook. :flower3:

Becki Dilley is the real deal. Her myspace page is awesome. Those kids are so grown up! Sorry for this brief, commercial interuption. Now back to those darn Gosselins.

She didn't ask for a free breast lift. She asked the doctor to check them because she felt that they weren't like they used to be. The doctor, or his wife who seemed very interested in helping Kate, could have asked Kate if she needed anything else done. We don't know because they didn't show every minute of the experience. On one of the later episodes they showed that she also got some liposuction during the tummy tuck, but that wasn't mentioned on the tummy tuck episode.

Maybe I'm a horrible person too, but if someone called me up and told me they were offering me a free ski trip to Utah or Hawaii or Disney, I wouldn't need to be asked twice.
