maybe i'm not skilled at it but i can't imagine folding 7-8 overflowing large laundry baskets in as little as an hour and a half:scared1: my lord, just dealing with sorting and bundling all those little socks would take me forever

well..each load from the dryer takes me maybe 5-10 minutes (but I'm standing and bending of course). so I was taking that times 10 at just over 90 minutes. (but hey if I'm short doesn't that make it even more worthwhile to accept the help?) I'd forgotten of course tiny socks in that..my DS is now 12..big socks only!

I love this show. It is one the only shows on TV that I try not to miss. Did anyone catch previews for next week? They mentioned putting the house up for sale. I actually got a little meloncholy!!! I think I need to get a life!:rotfl:

My DD8 was sent home from school yesterday with the stomach flu. I can't imagine having 8 kids all sick with it! :scared1:

I did feel sorry for Joel having the lay on the laundry room floor. :sad2: There are other ways to contain the mess and still be able to keep him comfortable. I wanted to scoop him up! I was glad to see Jon move him.

I agree! I felt so sorry for that poor child. He was laying on a blanket on a hard, cold floor. Then she shut the door with the machines running. I thought it horrible!

But I also found it horrible that Kate said that the girls had not got to be in any extra curricular activities until now. Maybe Maddie is a hand full because she doesn't get enough attention? I'm glad they are letting them participate in age appropriate activities now. But I can't believe they bought a violin. Renting is cheaper and the girls may not stay with the instrument.

The activity issue is tricky I think the girls just turned 7? I know for my DS outside swimming and a drama club (cause he's not a hockey kid) it was tough to find stuff. We did put him in Baseball but he wasn't always keen.

DD took up violin this year and it was not much cheaper to rent one! It was actually only a $20 difference so we bought it and DD got a really nice violin with the case. If you damage or loose the rented one they charge you about double what it costs for a new one!

I love this show and record it and watch it with my 5yo DS. He loves it and asks if he can have a play date with the kids!LOL I try not to judge because no one is a perfect parent but I did feel bad for Joel on the laundry room floor with the door closed!

I was surprised by this! They just did the renovation on the upstairs of their house and all.
I was thinking that the twins may not have been allowed to do the extra activities prior to this due to money and time. Now that the show is popular, I would assume their funds are better, and the babies are older and a bit easier.

i thought buying the violin was wierd too (esp. when with violins you have to get progressivly bigger ones as you grow)-but then when they said that the piano was gifted to them by a music company i wondered if they did it so there would'nt be any twin sibling issues over "but we own 'her' piano why can't we own 'my' violin" (would'nt fly as an argument or justification in my home but hey they may do it just to 'keep the peace').:confused3

i felt sorry for joel as well-even on a blanket a laundry room floor would be uncomfortable to sleep on, let alone dealing with the inevitable shifts in tempurature depending on what cycle the washer and dryer are running on, the 'lint bunnies' and the noise:sad2: :sad2:

kate said on the show that aired last nite that the reason the twins had'nt been able to do extra-curricular activities before was because 'our life is an extracurricular activity':confused3 :confused3

My kids and I look forward to every Monday so we can watch the show. Just love the little ones, they are so cute. And Jon and kate are great, they have quirks just like we all do.

I can't imagine that many children being sick, I did feel sorry for Joel being stuck in the laundry room.

I am hoping that finding some outlets for Cara and Mady will result in better behavior from Mady. The cooking place was a really neat idea and can teach them all sorts of things like working with others.

I can't believe Kate chose a black piano. The dust and fingerprints will drive her batty.:lmao:

I think the reason for no extra-curriculars before is both a money and a time issue. Now that money seems to be less of an issue, and Jon is home to get the kids off the bus, it is easier to let the kids be involved. I wonder what will happen when they are taking 8 different kids in all different directions! :scared1:

I also saw the previews for next week, and find it hard to believe they are moving. I saw or read somewhere that they are building a house back in the town where they had previously lived.

The laundry room looks like the only place in the house that kids aren't running through it. Plus, if that day was Kate's laundry day, it would be easier to keep an eye on him. And it is possible that they have radiant heat so the floor would not be cold.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember them saying they bought Mady's violin. I can't imagine they would buy a violin that she is going to grow out of. And I guess it is just me, but I don't think it is horrible that the girls weren't in extracurricular activities until now. I mean they are only 7. What extracurricular activity could they have been in anyway? My brother has five kids and they decided the kids would not get involved in extracurricular activities until they were in 3rd grade. This was due to budget and time constraints.

Nope it's not just you. My kids are 10, 7 and 4 and none are in any activities for a few reasons. We feel there's more important things to focus on for now. There's so much time for that stuff to come later on - we'll be pulled in different directions as they get older. For now I am holding on to my family time as much as I can and relish the fact that we eat a proper, sit down dinner together every single night.

They have moved.

I thought they just remodeled the house so they could have more room. Wasn't that just last summer. Where did they move to?
She always says she doesn't mind doing laundry. I wouldn't mind either if I had people come in to IRON,FOLD AND PUT AWAY. this really hits a sore spot for me.

Not me, she readily admits this. I think she is truly grateful for the help, too.

I agree. It's not like she's pretending she is doing absolutely everything around the house all by herself and patting herself on the back in the process for being Wonder Woman. She is giving credit to all those that help her.

Can't blame Kate for accepting help when people are offering. Like PP mentioned, I'm sure having someone fold and put away the laundry is a HUGE help. Again, people are offering their services - she's not forcing anyone to do it.

I'm 99% sure she told the music teacher she bought it.

I also don't think it's horrible that the girls aren't in any extracurricular activities, but my 12 yr. old DS has been playing baseball for 7 yrs.(spring) & has been taking drum lessons for 3 yrs.(summer) He also stays after school 3 days a week for an hour.(baseball, robotics, band) My 7 yr. old DD played baseball for 2 yrs.(spring), soccer for 2 yrs.(fall) & recently started gymnastics. My point~there are many activities kids can do (for free) & except for baseball, the other activities don't take up much time. Now, as for $$...thanks God the activities are spreadout throughout the year. :scared:

Exactly. She has said several times that the person who comes to help with the laundry volunteered to help because they like spending time with the kids. I can't blame her either. I'm sure once all the kids are older and in school she will have more time and won't need as much help.
