I read somewhere that one of the Carolinas has NO child labor laws and regulations. That makes things somewhat suspicious.

Beth and Jodi used to be in alot of the episodes until the "incident" now you don't see either one of them. One of them were always accompaning (sp) them on their "outings". Its sad that things have changed that drastically. I'm one of the unfortunate ones who also feel bad for the kids. There certainly have been alot of "coincidences" lately internet gossip or not. :rolleyes1

I missed Monday.

Does anyone know when they are usually replayed. Is it Wednesday? Do they usually do a repeat of the new ones?

Thanks.

Yes, I would be on the lookout on Wed. According to my TIVO, Mon.'s episodes will be rerun at 8 and 8:30pm.

Actually, I don't recall Jodi and Beth coming along on many outings at all; they served as babysitters while Jon and Kate did things. I don't think it's unusual at all that we don't see them as much anymore. Obviously, this season is more about the outings and Jodi and Beth have their own families; makes perfect sense to me for the family to now have a nanny to help care for the eight children.

And, please, feel bad for the kids all you want - I think it's unwarranted. As a pp mentioned, from the looks of what we see on tv, those kids are happy, well-behaved, and thriving. Spend your energy feeling bad for the real neglected children in this world.

No time to reply or do tons of postings...but I did want to say I really enjoyed last night's episodes. The kids looked like they were having a blast. :goodvibes

"It's just a buildin'." So cute!

I remember all the vacations, Disney, skiing etc. Infact Jodi flew out to CO so that Beth could fly home for a birthday. When DH and I took adoption classes we were taught that regardless of what the parents do the kids ALWAYS love and adore so what you see is not always what you get.

And please, don't tell me how to spend my energy

Yes. I think they said the first house they looked at was "about 5 hours" from where they lived now in PA. That would be about right if it was in VA.

It did say, on the show, that they were in central VA for both of the places they looked at.

What do Carolina labor laws have to do with anything? They were looking at homes in VA.
Just because Beth and Jodi aren't in the episodes doesn't mean they aren't in still involved in their lives. The show only covers a very small fraction of their lives.

I think the n. carolina labor laws were brought up because figure8 is based there and that is where it was rumored the gosselins were moving to.

Sorry to be a geography moron, but how far is central virginia from north carolina? Here is S. Florida I have no concept of driving from state to state being no big deal

Thanks for the links. Means nothing to me. Couldn't find the amt of hours children of that age are allowed to "work". Unfortunately I didn't take up law. I really don't spend that much energy on this crap. I like just a friendly debate or conversation... Say what you want, I still find alot of the stuff this season suspicious. Even if you believe 1/2 of wht you read and 1/2 of what you hear FROM her. If it walks like a duck and talks like a ......
:3dglasses

Not sure if this was directed at me. Since I sense an annoyed tone, I just want to make it clear that I was only mentioning that north carolina has been a very popular topic lately in regards to rumors that the gosselins are moving there, figure8 being based there, and supposedly "no child labor laws". I wasn't stating anything about what the labor laws are or aren't.

P.S. Even after reading about the labor laws, people will still be making up rumors, assumptions, etc. in regards to them moving out of state.

Well, in my experience with young children - my own and others - no amount of bribery or encouragement could get them to "act" happy or gleeful if they weren't. If you're implying that all of those kids are pretending to be happy and content, then I think we've reached a new level of absurdity here.

Like I said, "feel badly" for the Gosselin children all you want. I'll continue to feel badly for the thousands a truly abused children in this country.

I'm not saying them in particular. I'm relaying what we went through during our state adoption classes. You can't judge a book by its cover. Some people seem to think because the kids "look happy" etc that all the other things don't seem to matter. The bickering between parents constantly, the hitting, the OCD by Kate etc. While I may be a woman, Kate alone would annoy the snot out of me. I would not want to be one of her children let alone her friend. Again, just my opinion.

I don't understand why this tv show is causing us all to be so snarky. I've been called more names in the last two hours then the last two months. I feel like I'm being bullied on the playground. I'm going to give this a rest for a while again and let you all live in your Pollyanna world and hope you all give big when they come to your church, cause again, their lives are so hard ;)

I can't imagine Kate having it any other way :lmao:

I couldn't either and really if I was spending over 1 million on a house I would want it all my way too and I would not want to move into something that someone else lived in.

I feel so sad for Mady and Cara with this moving talk. Not only have they lost their extended friends and family (Jodi, Beth, etc.), but now they will have to leave all their school friends behind and start over at a new school. Not because their dad got a job transfer or because they are moving to be closer to relatives, but because their parents have cut off their extended circle. Sad! :sad2:

I don't know why it is sad...if they move they move, hundreds of families move for any number of reasons and the kids adjust and survive. Heck if my DH would have been willing to move I would have packed up and moved south just to get out of the stupid cold winter weather.

Your assumptions are based on nothing more than internet gossip. Once again, I trust that Jon and Kate will make the right decisions for their whole family. Fact of life - families often have to move. Nothing sad about it.

:thumbsup2

Oh please....how would you know what they are looking at?
Doubt all you want, but it is very obvious when watching the show that the children are well loved, well cared for and are the top priority of both parents.

I agree, no where does it look to me that those kids are deprived of any kind of love and nurturing from their parents.

Just because she's not in the episodes doesn't mean she's not in the picture. Most of the recent episodes have been outings. I know they've gone on a few trips with the family, but I would doubt she'd go on all of them.

My take is that now that the kids are older they don't need the help on trips or outings anymore. I had 3 kids under 4 1/2 and it was hard to go anywhere without an extra set of hands most times. (which I usually had with DH) as they got older it got easier and easier because they were able to walk by themselves, they could feed themselves, I could send 1 into the stall and wait outside with the others..I would assume it is the same with them now that the kids are older.

I sure don't live in a Pollyanna world, I just know that this is a reality TV show, that is heavily edited..why in the world would I think what we see is what goes on all the time? My husband and I bicker back and forth, always have always will. I will smack my DH on the arm if if says something I think is stupid. But my kids also see us hug and kiss each other. Such is life in my house.

And if they ever came to my church I wouldn't even go see them much less give them any money. I don't think their lives are hard moneywise anymore because I bet TLC pays them quite well, sure won't begrudge them that either.

I can honestly say that I would never trade my life for theirs because there is no way I would be able to deal with 8 kids on a day to day basis. I give them tons of credit for being able to do that.

ITA! These are clearly happy kids. Also, guess what my parents moved with me when I was in the 2nd grade...my dad was offered a better job and we could afford a better house. We had lived three streets from my grandmother. My parents treated it like a family adventure. It was fine.

My mom pointed out the same thing that we discuss on the boards. If Kate were as evil as people want to make her out to be she wouldn't have 8 children who are happy and well adjusted.

The fact of the matter is we don't know that Jodi and Beth are out of the picture or simply living their own lives. They haven't shown Nana Janet in awhile either. But I don't think Kate has stabbed her and is hiding her under the floor boards in the basement. We have no idea the legal ramifications of "adding" Jodi as a paid memeber of the show.

I also think people questioning the child labor laws in VA, PA or where ever is about the dumbest thing I have ever read. The kids are not acting....generally, the camera people just get what they get. I don't see how child labor laws would apply.

I've also noticed more Alexis...less Mady (Thanks Goodness---bashers can leave the kids alone). Also, less Cara. Does anyone else think they've filmed the twins less?

I don't recall calling you a name. As for the snarkiness, well - your previous post did state how you feel so sorry for those kids; and then stated that there were no labor laws in the state they were possible looking for homes; which I took as a implication that the rotten Gosselins are going to make their poor kids work against their will. Re-read your post - you implied it.

Again, I could give a flying fig who likes or dislikes this show. What I don't understand are the posters who come on here and make accussations and wild implications and then claim they are being "bullied" when the rest of us ask for proof to back up what they are saying.

Children are allowed to work in theatrical productions and on film and television productions. The law regulates how many hours they are allowed to work each day, the breaks they must receive and the amount of school hours (depending on the age of the child) they must have each day. The Production company is responsible for following all Child Labor laws within any states that they film in. The network would make sure that the production company followed all of the guidelines and child labor enforcement would most likely make visits to the "set" from time to time to make sure that everything was being done as it should be.

This is a high profile show. TLC is not going to risk getting into trouble and having the production shut down by not following child labor laws.

You know, I don't understand that child labor law thing either. The states that have laws, I think NY, NJ and CA, are for kids that are actors on sets. There are no such laws for reality tv, although it was discussed after the Kid Nation show because a parent of one of the kids complained about something and they were investigating. To say the Gosselins are moving to escape child labor laws is crazy.

Maybe the complainers want the kids to stop doing the oh so scripted, "next on Jon and Kate plus 8" line. Last night Jon did one of them so maybe they are hearing you complainers. :thumbsup2

I agree with the twins being on camera less. Perhaps they asked for a little space. Mady also seems much calmer lately.

I love Alexis. She is so outgoing and she says/does the cutest things.
