Also, our local zoo lets groups of 10 more (if you call ahead) have all sorts of perks. Like you can reserve the pavillon for lunch, get animal "demonstrations", timed train tickets...stuff I wouldnt think about unless I was planning a field trip for my class. But J&K are a field trip all by themselves.

which zoo? Louisville? It doesn't take much to get 10 people together for a trip there ... I'd love to know more about that :)

I thought it was funny when they were leaving for S.P. and mady and collin were playing with the spider and leah came up and killed and mady got really mad :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Why does anyone care what J&K and the kids get for free? Or if they get special treatment at certain places? I would think that these things would apply to anyone who is on a TV show. Those are the perks of fame. Why be any more jealous of them than of any other TV personalities?:confused3

They are not a "normal" family, nor do I think they ever claimed to be. They don't ask for anything from me, so why should I care?

The kids are cute and well-loved. None of us really knows what we would do with 8 kids of those ages.

I enjoy the show. That's good enough for me.:goodvibes

AMEN! I couldn't have said it any better!:)

Yes...L-ville but that is the extent of my knowledge on it. My team leader was the zoo contact. But I know L-ville does lots of special stuff for groups. I planned one field trip there...1997--I can't remember the details but they were WONDERFUL...a zoo worker greeted us and they had some extra animals up front.

On J&K...I re-watched the "gum" episode this week...this is my least favorite episode. To me it plays right into the Kate bashers because she does go nuts...poor little Collin and his bear. Did anyone notice that Mady was the one that comforts Collin and tries to talk Kate out of trashy the blanket.

sure Kate went overboard, but who give 6 3yr olds gum? Aparently Beth didn't even supervise them, because it was all over their clothing, the bear, a blanket I believe etc.

That was Aunt Jodi that gave them the gum - the incident is referred to as "Gumgate" on other message boards.

thanks! :)

that's enough info for me to follow up on - we have a zoo membership, but I'm involved in a moms group & it would be awesome to put something like that together for our group. I'll have to look into it.

are you still in Louisville? Jon & Kate are scheduled to be here (in E'town) next year - March 2009.

They are basically celebrities now and this is how celebrities are treated. I don't begrudge them anything because I wouldn't want all the negative aspects that also go along with fame.

I totally agree!:thumbsup2

Who knows? Just one of the many rumors that have been posted out there because she hasn't been on the show in a while.

Well I'm srue she is getting her cut from the book. I bet if they did have a falling out then Jon is glad he worked for Beth's husband while he did till they got more endorsements, etc.. Where did you read that they had a falling out with Beth too???!!!!!!!!!

I also read about a falling out with Beth on the many "I hate Kate" boards as I (1/2) jokingly call them. According to posts I've read there, Beth just "had enough" of Kate and started seeing how she "truly" is - not necessarily because of one instance that happened between them. Some say it happened over the course of their ski trip, where Beth came and helped out. That's what I've read.

It does seem interesting that both Beth and Jodi have not been seen or mentioned in any of the recent episodes. Maybe there is actually some truth that they are all no longer speaking, but maybe with not quite as much drama as is being portrayed in blogs, etc. If they truly are no longer speaking, I think it is very sad because both Beth and Jodi appeared to me such a huge part of all the Gosselin's lives.

Surprised,, that they are still going to come out with the book that Beth co-authored.. Have any of the links about Beth???!!!!!

They are probably in a contract with Beth regarding the book so don't have much say in taking her name off if true that they are on the outs...as for the links, I can't remember exactly where I've seen them but I've been browsing the gosselins without pity blog, fans of realtiy tv forums and a couple others. Basically I just searched jon and kate and skimmed through some of the results, not really paying attention to the forum it was coming from. Who knows, Beth and Kate could be at a spa together, reading this and laughing at how ridiculous it is that they aren't friends anymore

watched the sesame street program and a few things struck me as odd- they made a point of saying they had a 'healthy lunch' then showed/talked about eating hot dogs-does sesame street place offer organic dogs? (curious because while we're not into organics neither ds nor i can eat hot dogs at places like theme parks cuz it's rare if they even offer all beef which are to a degree safer with migranes so i'de be surprised if any place offers an organic one). i thought kate kept saying that they had to change the kids twice because of getting ready for the water park and then getting ready to go home-was it me or did'nt they all just climb into the van and get buckled up in their swimsuits:confused3

lastly (and i hope i'm wrong about this because i find it realy gross:scared: )-when they got back to the van did kate realy ask at least one of the little girls if she wanted to 'get in and go potty'? do they realy schlep around that potty seat and have the kids use it in the van (i've always seen it in there for outings or heard kate remind jon he has to include it when packing but i never imagined it could be for that purpose)? i can see having one if you're on a long road trip and inbetween clean filling stations or rest stops, but in a theme park parking lot? could'nt they have had a 'last call' at the bathrooms before they exited? frankly, the idea of them either inappropriatly dumping that thing in a public garbage can not intended for that purpose or (in the case of that episode) traveling with the contents in their car on a 110 degree plus day is to me equally:scared: :scared: :scared: .

DANG! i just looked up sesame place-it's EXPENSIVE! close to $50 per person for admission (unless you've got some kind of discount), $13 to park, and $17 freaking dollars to rent a stroller???????

good lord i hope they got in there free-anyone who talks about budgeting and expenses as much as they do, who would even consider putting out over $600 (before meals and souvies-cuz i heard jon telling one of the twins he was going to buy some kind of fans for them) for a one day outing that entails 6 hours of car travel would clearly not be acting in a financialy responsible manner.

That wouldn't surprise me. If I recall correctly, Beth went with them then she left a day before the trip ended and Jodi went up there to make the trip back with them. That seemed very odd to me and I was wondering if there was more to it.

Unless their other bills are not getting paid, I think it would be a little extreme to say they are not acting "financially responsible." If they choose to spend their money on a family outing, that's up to them (although I doubt very much that they paid for it). I can't even count how many times I have seen people posting here about not being able to pay their bills, yet they still spend money going to WDW. That's what I consider financially irresponsible.

Glad to hear someone finally say this! (I know you meant Jody) While I think Jody is a doll, to give the sextuplets gum was truly a ditzy move on her part. I wouldn't give my DD's kindergarten-aged friends gum if I didn't hear from their own mother's mouth that it was ok. Seriously, Jody should have known better; on the flip side, I do agree that Kate way over-reacted and is my least favorite moment on the show.

Well I'm srue she is getting her cut from the book. I bet if they did have a falling out then Jon is glad he worked for Beth's husband while he did till they got more endorsements, etc.. Where did you read that they had a falling out with Beth too???!!!!!!!!!

Don't read to much into my comment about a falling out with Beth. Someone mentioned it here on this thread weeks ago while trying to make an argument that Kate was so evil and had alienated everyone in her life. I don't read too much into the fact that you don't see her on the show as much anymore. Again, this is the third season and it seems the focus is more on these day outings. Now that Kate has a nanny for the 8 kids, she doesn't have to rely on friends and family so much.

lastly (and i hope i'm wrong about this because i find it realy gross:scared: )-when they got back to the van did kate realy ask at least one of the little girls if she wanted to 'get in and go potty'? do they realy schlep around that potty seat and have the kids use it in the van (i've always seen it in there for outings or heard kate remind jon he has to include it when packing but i never imagined it could be for that purpose)? i can see having one if you're on a long road trip and inbetween clean filling stations or rest stops, but in a theme park parking lot? could'nt they have had a 'last call' at the bathrooms before they exited? frankly, the idea of them either inappropriatly dumping that thing in a public garbage can not intended for that purpose or (in the case of that episode) traveling with the contents in their car on a 110 degree plus day is to me equally:scared: :scared: :scared: .

Oh please! I know a ton of parents of small children who keep a spare potty in their car; baby speciality stores even sell "inflatable" potties to be used for just that purpose. And it doesn't matter if it's for a long or short car trip; it's to eliminate the hassle of pulling over and going into a possible "nasty" public bathroom. I'm sure Kate did do one last potty stop before they left the park; but as any mother knows, a small child's need to pee to could change in minutes. She probably was asking one more time before they all got buckled into the car and drove away.

good lord i hope they got in there free-anyone who talks about budgeting and expenses as much as they do, who would even consider putting out over $600 (before meals and souvies-cuz i heard jon telling one of the twins he was going to buy some kind of fans for them) for a one day outing that entails 6 hours of car travel would clearly not be acting in a financialy responsible manner.

This statement puzzles me. First, people criticize the Gosselins for getting all these things for free; now we have posters who are criticizing them for being "not acting in a finacially responsible manner" if they DO pay for themselves. Besides, we've pretty much determined a few pages back that the show, in all likelihood, covers the cost for these excursions. And I believe it's probably one of the main reasons that Jon and Kate continue to do the show - to give the kids opportunities to do things that they probably couldn't afford to do on their own.

Seriously, I saw no reason for that last comment other than to get a "dig" in at the family.

It's funny that we've all observed Kate being so compulsive about the kids' clothes, no stains, always matching, etc. Then, when she does something "normal" (okay, a bit trashy) like letting her kids ride rides in their swim suits, we're all shocked. Maybe time and exhaustion are teaching Kate to relax a bit.

I've done my share of criticizing Kate, and I still cringe at the way she talks to her husband, but I wanted to share one of the most heart-warming moments with Kate that I saw on the show. I think it may have been Cara's special day, and she was alone with Kate in the car. Kate turned to her with such love on her face and said, "I'm just going to stare at you for a little, ok? I don't get to do that enough." (or something to that effect)I've seen that clip more than once, and it always makes me get teary. It's something I have said to my little girls before, and it's such a moment of pure love.

I think it's those moments that always seem to get disregarded.

It's fairly obvious from my posts that I enjoy the show and don't like all the Kate-bashing. I'm not one of the "sheep" though(a term that has been tossed around here). I do think Kate does alot of crazy things that I don't necessarily agree with; but she's a person and a mother who has her own way of doing things and it's what works best for her. But I've always thought that it was quite obvious on the show just how much Jon and Kate love each other and those kids.
