...they should rename Kate's show Kate Plus Eight [Left Feet!]...

I think she knows she's really awful. I'm betting she thought if she put her mind to it, she could do it. But she can't. She plain old can't dance.
Supposedly she is getting lots of phone calls. Anyone know what they get paid to be in this show? Do you get more the longer you last? At one point when Tony was flipping her, she looked like a blow up doll. I did like her hair, but I thought her make up was too harsh and she looked older.

Oh, crud, I'm going to have to watch it aren't I? (It's on the tivo). I'm sure the confrontation was staged but it still would ring true to the Kate that was shown on TLC. I'm reading she was embarrassingly really bad. I do wonder why she is doing this show if she is 1) really awful and doesn't know it 2) knows it, just wants to be on TV. I wonder if ABC is really playing her....using her for the ratings and letting her hang herself/humiliate herself and she is too self absorbed to notice. If that seems to be the case I may feel a tiny bit sorry for her just b/c it is so sad.

I've read that the pay for the show is $200,000. No idea if you get more if you're the winner.

and I also agree that she thought she could do it if she put her mind to it, along with the stuff I said in my more recent post. I think she thought she could, and I think that her people were telling her she could, too.

Oh kay..for that much money, I'd go and pretend I could dance too. I do wonder though..is she the draw? Is it Buzz, or the gold medal guy? Why are more people watching it than any other year? I can't believe that people would watch it just in hopes of seeing her fail. I think most people who didn't care for her wouldn't waste their time.

Pam? I do like watching her.

Holy Jon and Kate flashback! except Kate never 'cried' when upset with Jon (that I recall) It's always them, never her 'they don't know how to help her'.

Nope, can''t dance. She looked like she handled the criticism pretty well until the last 5 score, and then she looked pretty steamed.

She is just so flat in everything she does (unless berating someone) and that is not going to change.

I think it's a combination of people that have the ratings up -- mostly the ladies, LOL.

it's possible that there are as many people watching to see Kate succeed as see Kate fail. when I was on Twitter last night, there are a lot of both when you search #kategosselin. same with the DWTS facebook wall.

Did she make a plea to the moms again last night?

ok.

I watched. Even after I said I wouldn't... I couldn't stand it, so I rewound and watched. :upsidedow

It wasn't good. It wasn't like she was having an off night. There are some people that just can't dance. And Kate is one of them.

I'm waiting for her routine to show up online. But I'm going to side with you Madge, even though I haven't watched it yet.

I did see Shannon dance, and she was really upset when she practiced and I was shocked she did so well. Someone said they were surprised that they learned the routine in 5 days. Shannon mentioned that they have been practicing for 5 1/2 weeks together. I'm sure they have been working on at least 3 routines if not 2.

And if they are only making $200,000, that is horrible. I still have a problem with how much Reality TV pays, than sitcoms. They money is there to pay, because people like Charlie Sheen gets almost a million an episode. So what if he has to learn his lines. His one episode of a million dollars, equals 5 of the women's pay to be on the reality show. OK, rant over.

Even though it is evident that Kate has two left feet, the real "joke" of the evening was definitely Pamela Anderson. Every time that she saw the camera (even when she was in the background) she started that pitiful MM impersonation. I will agree that she can dance better than Kate but the whole thing seemed somewhat of a charade last night. If this is truly a "dancing contest" then we all know that Nicole is a slam-dunk, sure-fire winner. She could teach the professionals a thing or two. I am afraid that this is about to evolve into "DWTS meets Wipeout"...not good...

The judges loved her character and considered her spot on. They specifically thought the Marilyn Monroe thing worked for her. I thought she was way better than last week when I had to nearly avert my eyes. Who knows? :confused3

OMG I watched Kate last night..ummm what can I say wow just wow. She can't dance at all!!!! :scared1:

I think Kate's crocodile tears were staged and that's about it.
She is who she is. The same shrew as always.
I believed the dance instructor when he said he has never had a student tell him he was teaching wrong, until Kate. The judges words were directed at her the most I am sure. Show up and shut up. Even if she didn't have a bit of dancing ability, she could lighten up and laugh about it. Instead, she blames the instructor. I don't believe she is being told to act this way, any more than she was on her own show. I bet Jon is feeling vindicated right about now.

I think Kate's crocodile tears were staged and that's about it. .
I think she was frustrated and was crying in frustration. I think she thought all she had to do was make up her mind, and she could dance. She can't. I can't see that that will change. She just doesn't have it, and it's something out of her control, which I think is very hard for her (and others).

Several of the non dancers were shown having problems. Unless we saw all of it, we have no idea just how far any of them went with each other. I don't remember in season's past them showing what they are showing this year in the reheasals between several of them.

This may be the way she acted, but I still think that was shown because of the drama, and that DWTS wants to suck people in to watch what happens next time.

I can't imagine learning that dance in one week, or a few days. I wonder just how much arguing goes on between all the pro's and the 'celebrities' that we don't see.

This in my opinion is a little harsh....everyone learns differently. Like in school some kids need to read it to learn others are ok listening to a lecture. I think it's hard for someone ( anyone really ) to stand there and take criticism.....I would have cried as SOON as someone said anything! Yes, I think she was horrible but I would have been also. If I were in her shoes, I think I would have taken it much worse then she did. As far as talking to the instructor, I understand where she was coming from and as soon as I saw it unfolding I knew the naysayers would be all over her. Just remember, we only see what they want us to see.

Yes I think it was shown because of the drama, but even Shannon, who I think is just about as sour a person as Kate, has managed to lighten up a bit. I don't think Kate has it in her to do it. I'll keep hoping, but not counting on it. It will be her personality that does her in on this show, not her dancing ability.

Yes, that's true. But someone like Buzz asked for help, tried to figure out a way for him to learn. Kate blames Tony for not teaching her the right way. "And that is the difference between a rocket scientist and Kate". (I'm stealing that from another board and another poster. It is just so profound and clearly illustrates who and what Kate is.)

It won't matter how much she practices, she can't dance. There is no shame in that, the shame lies in her behavior. She is not having a good time, and may not be capable to having a good time and Tony can't really do much about that!

I think Tony and Jon may hang out soon. ;)

Wow, do they really get $200,000? That's a lot of money. I'm sure you get more if you win too. Wonder what the professionals make??

Anyhow, last night was bad. Y'all are right, Kate cannot dance. Not even a little. She looked so wooden while she was dancing, you could tell she was talking herself through it and by doing so, it came across stiff and awkward. Tony is a doll, he really is. I've always loved him on the show. He looked 100% frustrated on the rehearsal footage. I'm sure there was more to it than what ABC showed. But for Tony to walk off and say he quit, he must have been totally offended and frustrated. I think Kate was completely lost when he was trying to explain the dance to her. One thing I noticed is that she'd try for a step or two and then stop and complain. I'm sure she feels like it's just not going to happen. She's just not a dancer. Some people aren't. Tony was insinuating that she was telling him how to teach her and she said he needed to basically explain it in another way to her. They were both highly frustrated and Tony was just fed up. I did think her comments were strange though...don't give up on me, we need to communicate better, I've had a lot of people quit on me. It was like they were married!

Here's a link to some of last night's drama:

QUOTE:
A rehearsal spat between reality star Kate Gosselin and pro dance partner Tony Dovolani, that nearly led to the professional quitting the show, took center stage on Monday night's "Dancing with the Stars."

Before each pair took to the stage to show off their dance number for the week, producers rolled out footage of Week 2 rehearsals and while several of the "Stars" - including Erin Andrews and Jake Pavelka - had trouble with their professionals, Kate's spat with Tony appeared to be the most heated.

While rehearsing for Monday night's jive, Kate took on Tony for his teaching techniques, something that clearly pressed buttons for the normally cool "DWTS" regular.

"It's like you're telling me how to teach you how to dance. That's what I do for a living," Tony said after Kate told him she didn't understand his instructions over a particular foot placement.

"He feels like I undermined him as a teacher and I didn't. I'm not qualified to teach, but I am qualified to know how it is that I want something to be shown to me," Kate said to camera. "Like, I just want to learn, like show me, so I can get it."

The discussion between the two continued in a heated fashion, with Kate claiming Tony wasn't "hearing what [she was] saying," to which he replied, "I've heard you all day."

When Kate chimed in, "Please, don't make arguments where there's none," Tony lost his patience and announced, "I quit," before walking out the door as Kate wiped tears from her eyes.

He eventually cooled down and came back.

"Thank you for coming back," Kate said after Tony returned, before seemingly referencing her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin. "I've had a lot of people quit on me in life."

As for their actual competition number, like their rehearsals, that too had trouble.

Despite her short and sexy red dress, and up 'do, Kate's disjointed footwork and missteps in their jive to Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" was slammed by the panel.

"Oh Kate, this song brings back such great memories of me dancing with Elton John in the South of France, and now you've turned it into a nightmare," Italian judge Bruno Tonioli -- who appeared in the original music video for the song -- commented.

British judge Len Goodman did try to inspire the mother of eight for next time.

"You're a try-er and you're a worker," he said.

"Come out and really go for it," he added as the pair took home 15 out of 30 for a two week total (combined with the premiere week's score) of 31 out of 60. "Don't go down as a wimp. Go out fighting."

Kate did fight back - just not on the dance floor.

While being interviewed by show co-host Brooke Burke, she said the rehearsal footage wasn't the whole story.

"It's 30 seconds of a great week of practice with a great teacher, you know, we just met each other. We have to learn to communicate like a marriage," she said before uttering an "Eek!"

I think any of them could have said this. Yes, she's a terrible dancer, and it must be frustrating for both of them. Several of the celeb's seemed frustrated in the practices. As I said earlier, who knows what went on in some of the other rooms. But showing Kate is definately what will bring the most drama..look, it has us all talking about just her, even though other's had problems. I can't imagine the frustration trying to teach Buzz how to dance, and he too told his partner how to teach him, it's just that we like him, so we think it's cute that he tells her how to teach him. Shannen seemed pretty frustrated as well as the tall guy who's name I can't remember. But those at home either rooting for, or hoping she falls on her face, grabbed onto what was going on with Kate, and the producers knew we would. I have never seen DWTS talked about on line all over the place like this. They have a winner..in fact they are prob making all the phone calls to keep her LOL!
This truly is not about the dancing this time around.

Not even close! He asked, and came up with an idea for himself and then listened to his teacher. Not to mention he smiles and has fun.

And I took it to mean that he coudn't learn from her the way she was teaching so he came up with his own method (although that didn't seem to help much). Yes, he smiles and has fun and we like him. So anything he says will be taken quite different from anything Kate (or maybe Shannen) says.
Wish they showed on you tube or somewhere, the entire practice as they tape it, so we could see what they take out.
