I wonder if she just had them cut shorter. I think her hair look yucky now, like she got caught in the rain. The best hair do I think she had, was when they curled it for The View.

I agree, it looked good when it was curled in that style.

not sure if this has been mentioned (I only went back through the last page of posts) recently.

Kate has a book coming out soon:
http://news-briefs.ew.com/2010/02/08/kate-gosselin-to-publish-new-book-i-just-want-you-to-know/

She will also be on The View again next month.

I'm kinda speechless. A new book, really? If it's truly a book of letters written to her children, why publish it? Why not just save the letters for when the kids are older? I'm guessing they're personal and private, right? Why share it with the world?

ETA: Just did a quick search. Here's a cover shot of the book:

This is just.....too much. :sad2: I really hope Zandervan re-thinks this release. If she wants to share with her children, then write it, put it aside and give to your children as a private timely moment. Publish for the world!

NO

I'll have to wait and see what this book would be about. If it's inspirational and done in good taste, then maybe it's a good thing for all of them. If it's a tell all type of book, not so much :(.

I had written to the publisher and asked about her cook book, and all they told me (although someone else indicated they got a much more personal note back from them and no way were they going to be publishing for her) in a form letter was there was a book in the wings in the future..but I thought they meant the cookbook.

Edit to add I found the write up on their site:
I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith, and Family
Author: Kate Gosselin
Synopsis: In I Just Want You to Know, New York Times bestselling author Kate Gosselin continues her story of faith and family, picking up where her first book, Multiple Blessings, ended. Using excerpts and written prayers from her journal, Kate offers an intimate look at the heart of a mother during the three years her family transitioned from obscurity into television fame. The book includes eight individual letters to her children in which she conveys her fears and dreams for each one and answers their questions about life.
Available: May 2010

Description:
The 9.8 million viewers of TLC’s Jon and Kate Plus Eight recognize Kate as the perky and practical mom of eight who has come into their homes for over 100 episodes of her family’s hit reality show. Although the show has made her face recognizable, there’s another part of Kate the viewers haven’t seen—her heart. In I Just Want You to Know, Kate reveals a less familiar spiritual side. She is a grateful and faith-filled mother who only wants the best for her children and is willing to sacrifice to make that happen. The book covers the three years her family lived in their Elizabethtown home, a period Kate considers one of the happiest of her life. It shows the parents of eight kids (all under the age of six) transitioning from the chaos of caring for infants to the structured days of a home filled with budding preschoolers. During that time, the family underwent major changes: • From diaper changing to potty-training the sextuplets • From only traveling a few miles for a rare meal out to flying to Hawaii to renew their wedding vows • From Kate’s need for control, to learning how to be flexible • From watching a child who couldn’t spell, singing B-I-B-I-B (the Bible song), to their first child growing in her faith and praying to ask Jesus into her heart • From Kate’s first speaking engagement (she was afraid to fly) to her book tour • From a desire for a “normal” family life that didn’t include outside help, to a desire for a “normal” day without public attention.

well, looks like they are just not happy with the little bit of normal they were getting.

Jon has sold his soul to TLC (again) and is offering his childrens lives in exchange for them to drop their lawsuit. (BTW - this is enough to make me NEVER watch anything on TLC again! - how sad is it that TLC has this father jacked up against the wall, turning him upside down and shaking his kids out of his pockets? _ I guess Jon feels he has no other way to survive) Jon has also got a new bimbo to give him a reason to be seen by the paps in the clubs.

Kate. Kate is scrambling for attention. Now she is club hopping at hot spots? The book. I'm sorry, but I just don't see how publishing letters to your children can be done in good taste. disgusting. The thing is, in order to make money, you need to have something to offer. You need something to sell. You have to have a product. Most people in entertainment can sell their humor, their talent - Kate's only product to sell is her children. And here she goes again ready to sell. Sad. I not only think it is because she needs to make a buck off them, but I also think her whole reason for having the kids in the first place was because she needed attention so badly. Raising 8 kids is not her thing. It isn't fun for her. What was fun for her was doing it in front of an audience. I can't imagine she is enjoying quiet time with the kids. She has to do SOMETHING to get people to watch her raising them.

Now that the house is Kate's only, where does Jon go when it is his time with them? Does he even still have a place in NY since Haily trashed the last place and he couldn't pay rent?

ALso, I hate to even comment on this because it is not at all the kids fault, but that last picture of Jon with two of the tups, they are looking a little pudgy since filming ended. I know they are still tiny, and kids tend to pudge up before they have a growth spurt, but I am just thinking (and this is just me guessing) that this is one of the first visible signs of the chaotic emotional lives these kids are living. I just picture them being home with the nannies constantly (you know, the things Kate swore her kids would never have) and eating junky food.

Ya know, I just don't even know where to start with this description of the book. First thing that stands out is "She is a grateful and faith-filled mother who only wants the best for her children and is willing to sacrifice to make that happen" - If she was really that "faith filled" she would realize that she didn't need to "make that happen". that the Lord would provide. Also, she is sadly confused about what the "best for her children" is. It is not schools, or material things, or a house, or clothes. It is all things that money CAN NOT buy. Has she NEVER learned this? It is having a family together, mom, dad. love, peace. She hasn't provided any of that. What did she sacrifice to "make that happen" - her soul, their privacy, their lives, their marriage, anything stable and normal.

Next thing is the "need for control, to learning to be flexible" ???? Really?:rotfl::rotfl2: I don't think so.

Kate. Kate is scrambling for attention. Now she is club hopping at hot spots?
I have no idea if she is out club hopping, or out for an evening while Jon has the kids, or if she's going to someone's birthday party or what. If I start seeing more than one club posted, I'll feel differently about it.

Does he even still have a place in NY since Haily trashed the last place and he couldn't pay rent?
Did the police change their minds, and decide Hayley trashed the place and not Jon for attention?

You got that from a picture of kids (which I didn't even notice..that they were getting pudgy). So, with the pudging up of America, you figure that is a sign of their emotional lives? Not just lack of exercise, junk food, etc?

As for the book and the letters in it. Until I actually read them, I can't judge. Once I do, then I may have a lot to say about it. I have no idea what's in the book, or if she has made changes in her life or what, until I read it and see how how her and the kids lives go. I just hope the kids don't end up back on a regular series. As long as Kate isn't giving out the kids secrets in a book, I don't care what she writes. She also may not be able to provide mom and dad together. Another thing we really don't know about is if she tried and it just didn't happen or wasn't the best thing for the kids. Just like people here on the dis. Sometimes you just can't stay with your husband or the kids dad, it just isn't the best thing for the kids. As for the Lord providing, that's another thing I can't judge on, on how He is providing for her and her family, and what opportunities He's providing for them. For me, it's a wait and see.

The description sounds very private to me...letters to her children about her hopes and fears for each of them? Why does the world need to read that? If it were just a book by Kate detailing her struggle with fame or divorce, then I really wouldn't care. But it's coming across as using the kids once again to make a profit. Those letters should remain private, something she could give them when they're older that they would really appreciate. I understand her desire to provide for her family but using the kids privacy once again is in poor taste. Isn't TLC working on that new show anyway for Kate? That will be another source of income for her.

not sure if this has been mentioned (I only went back through the last page of posts) recently.

Kate has a book coming out soon:

Zondervan is the publisher? Anything for a buck I guess.

Shouldn't someone who publishes a book with Bible verses maybe attend church/take the kids to church and act in the way the Bible tells her...kind, loving, humble, generous....

Are people still buying the Christian act?

I just read on another site that the hot spot is a restaurant, so no idea if she is clubbing.

You know that she and the kids aren't back going to church? Yes, as long as someone says they are a Christian, and I have no proof otherwise, I 'buy' the Christian act.

I have no idea if she is kind, loving, humble or generous. Do you?

Again, until I read the letters, there is no way I can judge them. The letters may just be about her hopes and dreams for them. Until the book is out, who knows what's in them. This publisher's books are usually very good books. Hopefully someone there is paying attention and this will be written in a way that won't hurt the kids.

For me, the judging is done by Someone a lot more equipped to judge than I.

I understand what where you're coming from Doris and I can't remark too much on it since it's against the dis rules. I'll just say that we're on the same wavelength!

However, it does come across like Kate's using her kids for this book. Again, if it were just her chronicling her own struggles with fame, divorce or motherhood, it wouldn't bother me. But the letters sound personal. I can't imagine writing out what I hope, wish and fear for each of my daughters and then publishing them for all the world to see. It's a private moment IMO. I'm not going to question Kate's faith since I don't know her nor do I see her on a regular basis. I agree, I have no idea if she's going to church or not or what she's teaching her kids. But this book is just rubbing me the wrong way.

She has said herself that she was too famous to go to church, and then she couldn't go b/c Jon wasn't there. Although I have a feeling we may be seeing some pictures on ROL soon of them going to church. ;)

Her behavior is up for judging as long as she continues to sell her children while quoting Bible verses. It's just the way I feel.

I wish I could say more about her going to church..but I just can't. I do love that her church has been so good about keeping their mouths zipped and just keeping this family in prayer. They made a choice to not discuss one their own, and they are steadfast in not doing that. Good for them.

We really only see them when radar or other rag mags think it's a negative that will sell. We never see the good stuff that she may have done, because it just doesn't sell magazines. If TLC were to 'leak' anything nice, we all would just figure they are doing it to make themselves profit. I think the same about Jon. If he does something good, it's not newsworthy.

You are entitled to feel whatever you want, and I respect that for you..I just don't know yet, if she is selling her kids out. That's what I have to wait to read for myself.

I just can't judge her on her Christian beliefs, however, and it's against the dis rules to talk more about this subject.

The thing is, in order to make money, you need to have something to offer. You need something to sell. You have to have a product.

talulabelle ... Jon & Kate have each done a pretty good job of selling their children, even now. IMO, the children are the only thing that make this story interesting to people anymore.

I agree. The Gosselins should have a place to go for support without the fear of being sold out to the media. I'm glad there are no reports from the school or church.

Did Kate start going back to church? She hadn't been in a while, according to one of the last interviews she did.

It's still pretty weird, that their kids are the reason they're famous. Most of us tuned in to see those little cuties, not J&K. Without them, the show wouldn't have worked.

Jon has shown his true colors IMO. He claimed that his kids needed to be off tv and he had to do what's best for them. Then he does live streaming of the twins b-day weekend. And of course, has now granted TLC permission to film them again.

Kate has been pretty upfront about her motives...she wants her own talk show someday and doesn't believe the kids are being harmed from being on reality tv. If anything, she made it sound as if the kids are suffering and unhappy now because filming has stopped.

I'm just stunned by the whole mess still. What were J&K going to do if TLC/Discovery had never come knocking on their door?

She's been selling her children out before they were born.

Worked as a nurse and IT person (and prob still been divorced), and stayed in their small house. Prob done a few commercials like the others with a lot of kids have done. But they did come, and here we are. Judging from the shows with lots of kids still being shown, nothing was learned from this. Everyone thinks they are different. All they have to do is ask themselves one question..would I still be on TV if I didn't have kids. If they can't say yes, then the kids are the reason and they are using them for gain. Does it harm the kids. I just don't know, and won't until the kids books come out.

:confused3 I don't understand this. How did she sell them out before they were born? Is everyone with kids on reality shows selling them out, or just K & J?

Quick someone start a rehab for reality show stars, you'd make a fortune!!:cool1:

Probably. It's just interesting to see how far they've come. And I agree, other reality tv families (table for 12, The Duggars) are fooling themselves if they think they're immune.

As far as harming the kids, I think it will to some degree. Each of them are different of course and will handle it in their own way. I really think that the show coupled with their parent's messy divorce will cause issues for at least some of them. Hopefully J&K will be prepared for that possibility and be able to explain themselves.

I'm in total agreement (are you surprised Doris?;)) with your statement about asking themselves if they would've been on tv without their children. Excellent point and I think we all know the answer to it. The kids are what makes these types of reality shows so appealing. The parents, not so much.
