Radar has photos of Jon decorating pumpkins with the kids. That's all cute and good, however it looks like the paps are right in the yard.

Isn't that the backyard?

uhg. He did didn't he? He had his friends the paps come on in to the backyard. Guess he didn't feel like setting up the table in the driveway with the plastic lawn chairs so that they could get pics from the road like they did at the "4th of July celebration".

sick. These people are so egotistical that they can't do anything with the kids without it being filmed. Just some time alone with the kids wouldn't have been good enough....not relaxing enough or fun enough. It has to be on film! So he can look at himself on the internet later in the day! Oh, but, this is his "career". Being a dad on film is his career. What on earth is he thinking? Why is he letting the paps take pictures of this little family moment if he wants his kids to have their privacy?

Doesn't he realize that they themselves are not that interesting. Yes, people were interested in how they ran the house back when they were normal, like had jobs and had to raise the kids. Then it just wasn't that interesting because we all realized that they weren't running the house, they were getting by on donations and bossing people around and using people like the neighbor to come over and do all the folding and they weren't even working anymore. And the babysitter would put all the laundry away. So they started taking trips so we could see how they packed and traveled. And, well then that wasn't interesting, because "so what?!" So now the drama like we are actually interested in them as people.

This is why I like the Duggars. They still have normal lives and we get to see how they actually operate. You actually see how the kids are organized to have resposibilities. You see how they have three dishwashers and 3 washing machines and how it is possible that htey live with that many people. It is entertaining to watch. and they are all happy. Not the long drawn faces of the Gosselins. And Dad still goesto work. THe filming is just extra. If it ended tomorrow, I'm sure the Duggars wouldn't care. THey would just go on. They haven't increased their level of living and gotten an apt. in NY and fancy cars and a 2 million dollar house to pay for. The boys would still mow thier grass with the mower, because they aren't dependent on the show to pay for landscaping. They would enjoy -a-their family and each other and wouldn't feel an empty space without the crew or the paparazzi.

My brother and his wife did a home birth -- baby ended up in ICU for over a week. Sure it usually works out ok, but you never know -- especially with the first child. The pediatricians told them that there would have been few issues if the child had been born in the hospital -- with the proper equipment, they'd have been able to take care of any issues much faster before they became big problems.

Needless to say, they're not having any more children. That was a nightmare.

I have a friend who insisted on a home birth and had many complications. I know a lot of people have them, but I wouldn't consider it. Pregnancy complications are very scarey and hospitals have equipment to take care of things like that. Does Michelle Duggar deliver at home??

It looks like J & K may be taking our advice and keeping quiet. There's nothing to talk about so this thread is now changing to the Duggars.

oh, there's plenty to talk about and it's only 9:35am on the east coast. the day is young ;) .. Jon had company at the house yesterday. What's his name Lohan stopped by. And tomorrow, after the meeting with the arbitrator, there will be even more.

you make some good points about the Duggars, but their show is also heavily edited.

I think it's natural to compare the two. We've been doing it off and on since the Duggars came to our attention. This hasn't been a thread when we wander, we're told to get back on the subject (good thing :thumbsup2).

No, so I'm sure this made it much more interesting for TLC. I'm sure they were happy to not have the same old, same old. I wonder if her mom has home births and she is following her, or if the ante was upped for a home birth.

absolutely! on both counts... for some reason, I was surprised that they'd gone that route. Not shocked or stunned, but slightly surprised.

I'm more surprised at the turnaround for production -- the birth show is airing tomorrow, and the baby was born less than a week ago.

I'm surprised as well.

But I believe they did that for the last couple of Michelle's baby as well...kind of a breaking news kind of thing.

Due to their modesty needs though---all births are filmed from an extremely sanitized angle. So it isn't the graphic births--or even the blurred out bits births. That coupled with the importance of welcoming all babies that God blesses them with--makes them almost welcome to sharing the experience.

(However--I want to say that TLC isn't in the delivery room for the birth....I recall one episode where I remember that one of Michelle's daughters had a "Duggar cam". But I could be mistaken.)

I'm betting she defers to Josh on this sort of thing. But that's another thread for another day. :upsidedow

While you are probably right--some women CHOOSE to defer to their husbands.

Not my cup of tea mind you--but I won't judge a woman who defers to her husband.

My SIL is opted for a 2nd c-section b/c her husband said no way to a VBAC. I wish she'd make her own choice--but hey, it's not my marriage. And yes, she was very clear that her husband was the one to put his foot down.

Some women enter into a relationship and are quite happing with deferring.

I didn't marry my husband under that premise.

But Anna is a grown girl capable of making choices--even those that are biblical in roots that have her defer to him.

I have another sister in law who seems that way as well. It makes me the odd duck--but I'm okay with that. Their relationships work for them and mine works for me. :)

I will say that I'm pregnant--and on some discussion boards I have read recently that some hospitals are really cutting down on visitors and such due to H1N1.

I have no idea if this was an issue for Anna and Josh. They were initially using Michelle's OB.

you make some good points about the Duggars, but their show is also heavily edited.

My only issue with this statement is that it can be argued that J&K was also heavily edited to make Kate appear to be more witchy than normal and Jon to be more of a whipping boy than he reallly is.

I think it woud be extremely difficult in either family's case to accurately portray them in any one manner if they didn't already have the disposition for being that way.

I.e. If Kate wasn't controlling--it would be mind numbing to find enough footage to demonstrate this.

If the Duggar family wasn't so loving and happy--it also would be mind numbing to find enough footage to demonstrate this.

There is just too much footage geared towards their perceived personalities that we cannot say that it is just the editing. There is truth to what we see.

She doesn't---but not every woman chooses this.

I have known several women who have had succesful home births.

Not my choice--but it can be done.

My son was born with high sugars--they did a blood test due to his birthweight (10 lbs 14 oz), i often wonder how his high blood sugars would have been found during a home birth. One of the very few medical reasons that the La Leche League says the baby has to have formula supplementation. After 2 feeds and 2 reads, his blood sugars normalized.

However, we breast feed exlusively--so in a home birth, I'm not sure we would have known.

I know it's edited, but I have never found on JK8 or the Duggars that they try to leave out anything embarrassing or telling. I think they just leave out the boring.
The biggest difference between the DUggars and the Gosselins is exactly what Kate has said so many times herself. With the Gosselins, "THeir life is their show, and the show is their life" Bingo. There is your problem, right there. So if the show goes away, you don't have a life anymore. As witnessed by Jon desperately inviting paps into the backyard, so that carving pumkins with the kids can be documented and will count as "life".

With the Duggars, the show just shows them living thier life which in not confused or intertangled with the show. THere is no army of cooks or nannys or poor volunteer neighbors being used. Michelle doesn't ask for charity, but if someone did help her, she sure wouldn't talk to them the way Kate used to back before she burned all her bridges.

Why would Kate have an open Facebook page?
Or someone set-up a fake one.

I'm not on Facebook yet but Charlene's private. You can see who her friends are & she has a picuture. You can not see her photos

Awwww, congratulations!:goodvibes I would LOVE to get pregnant again but shouldn't due to thyroid/heart issues. There is nothing like a newborn little baby all snuggled up on your chest! And they smell sooooo good!

Kate's not much better with the permed hair and leather jacket. The picture was probably in the early 90's. That was the look back then so they were both pretty much in style at the time.
Almost looks like they are dressed up for Halloween! LOL

On another note- I miss big hair........ (((((((sigh)))))))

I thought on an episode they showed the P crawling around the woods to get photos. They were not just at the driveway.

But it looks like they are in the backyard. It is early to be carving a pumpkin for Halloween.

:lmao: Me too! I was quite the expert on getting mine to be huge! Let's see, first wrap the top sections around a curling iron, spray heavily with Aqua Net (the extra hold of course), wait for a little smoke to come off the curling iron, release, brush brush brush and then spray heavily with more Aqua Net! The girls bathroom in my junior high school was caked with hair spray on the mirror! Love that smell.

I think you are absolutely correct in your first paragraph. I thgink Jon mentioned something similar in the quote I posted last night. I do think all of these reality stars may have the disposition to act a certain way, but when you show just part (I think Jon said they didn't show Kate's resolution, just the beginingg) many people think that is the way the person is all the time. They seem to pick out parts that swing the show in the favor they want it to take. TLKC definately has a plan for the Duggars and how they want their show to portray them, and if there is firm discipline (like hitting the children, or blanket training), we'll never see it IMO.

I have no idea if there is complete truth in what we see on either show. I have known people like Kate who always put down their husbands, and they have been (seemingly) happy for dozens of years. It works for them. I also know people in Christian homes that are wayyy different than the face the show in church. So gentle and kind in church and church activites and so nasty (IMO, since I don't believe in spanking and hitting and yelling at kids..although spanking was the norm in the 70's, I think many of us have learned you don't need to hit to control bad behavior) and controling to their families in private (semi-private that is, since I have been there and been youth leaders for more years than I can count, and been privy to parent /children 'conversations'). To be fair, I've known way more who were gentle souls in church and out.

My only issue with this statement is that it can be argued that J&K was also heavily edited to make Kate appear to be more witchy than normal and Jon to be more of a whipping boy than he reallly is.

Michelle has had some homebirths, if it wasn't twins or if the baby wasn't breech etc.
