I know it's edited, but I have never found on JK8 or the Duggars that they try to leave out anything embarrassing or telling. I think they just leave out the boring. .

I don't know how you would know that. I suspect that the Duggars were smarter (age will do that for you sometimes) and they have more control over what is shown. I'd be willing to bet if I was a betting person, that their contract reads differently from K & J's and they have more say over what was shown. They certainly don't show their blanket training (if it's true that they do it), and they show a lot more of a snippet form on their show.

Michelle has had some homebirths, if it wasn't twins or if the baby wasn't breech etc.

Hmm..I thought she said her babies will be born in the hospital in one of the shows. Maybe that was back before the show when she was a little younger and had less chance of problems.

uhg. He did didn't he? He had his friends the paps come on in to the backyard. Guess he didn't feel like setting up the table in the driveway with the plastic lawn chairs so that they could get pics from the road like they did at the "4th of July celebration".

sick. These people are so egotistical that they can't do anything with the kids without it being filmed. Just some time alone with the kids wouldn't have been good enough....not relaxing enough or fun enough. It has to be on film! So he can look at himself on the internet later in the day! Oh, but, this is his "career". Being a dad on film is his career. What on earth is he thinking? Why is he letting the paps take pictures of this little family moment if he wants his kids to have their privacy?

Doesn't he realize that they themselves are not that interesting. Yes, people were interested in how they ran the house back when they were normal, like had jobs and had to raise the kids. Then it just wasn't that interesting because we all realized that they weren't running the house, they were getting by on donations and bossing people around and using people like the neighbor to come over and do all the folding and they weren't even working anymore. And the babysitter would put all the laundry away. So they started taking trips so we could see how they packed and traveled. And, well then that wasn't interesting, because "so what?!" So now the drama like we are actually interested in them as people.

This is why I like the Duggars. They still have normal lives and we get to see how they actually operate. You actually see how the kids are organized to have resposibilities. You see how they have three dishwashers and 3 washing machines and how it is possible that htey live with that many people. It is entertaining to watch. and they are all happy. Not the long drawn faces of the Gosselins. And Dad still goesto work. THe filming is just extra. If it ended tomorrow, I'm sure the Duggars wouldn't care. THey would just go on. They haven't increased their level of living and gotten an apt. in NY and fancy cars and a 2 million dollar house to pay for. The boys would still mow thier grass with the mower, because they aren't dependent on the show to pay for landscaping. They would enjoy -a-their family and each other and wouldn't feel an empty space without the crew or the paparazzi.

I thought Jim Bob did not have a job. I thought he had some commercial properties that he rents out.

The Duggar children are slaves IMO. The older ones do not look that happy. The second son looks like he is ready to crawl in a hole on the show.

Jim Bob is weird the girls have long curly hair because that's the way he likes it.

I think she meant based on what we've seen on the show. For example, Kate screaming at Jon in Toys R Us, or Collin's constipation issue, or Kate's over-reaction to gum, or Jon telling Kate to the stick out of her butt, or Kate vowing to kill Jon because he didn't use a coupon. All those things in TLC's opinion make for interesting tv which they hope will generate more viewers. Anything boring would start to lose viewers, wouldn't you agree? IMO, there many private moments shown on J&K that shouldn't have been but obviously TLC has an agenda ($) so that is why it wasn't edited out.

While you are probably right--some women CHOOSE to defer to their husbands.

Not my cup of tea mind you--but I won't judge a woman who defers to her husband.

My SIL is opted for a 2nd c-section b/c her husband said no way to a VBAC. I wish she'd make her own choice--but hey, it's not my marriage. And yes, she was very clear that her husband was the one to put his foot down.

Some women enter into a relationship and are quite happing with deferring.

I didn't marry my husband under that premise.

But Anna is a grown girl capable of making choices--even those that are biblical in roots that have her defer to him.

I have another sister in law who seems that way as well. It makes me the odd duck--but I'm okay with that. Their relationships work for them and mine works for me.

I don't usually defer to my hubby either, especially in regards to childbirth. Everything else we discuss and come to a decision. The only thing about the VBAC is they can be dangerous depending on how the previous c-section was performed. So maybe her hubby was concerned from a safety aspect and didn't want to risk having something happen to the mother or baby. That I can certainly understand.

absolutely! on both counts... for some reason, I was surprised that they'd gone that route. Not shocked or stunned, but slightly surprised.

I'm more surprised at the turnaround for production -- the birth show is airing tomorrow, and the baby was born less than a week ago.

I'm guessing TLC has lots of free time now!

I do hope the Duggars aren't eventually blinded in the same way as J&K by money and fame. I hope they get out on a high note with all their dignity.

About the pumpkin pictures: Did someone drag the picnic table to the back? And that is some wimpy playground!

Jon, if you are reading (did someone send him this link yet!?) what is unhealthy for your kids is people taking pictures of them for money for YOU. No matter who is taking them, if YOU or Kate is profiting; it is wrong and harmful.

Jim Bob makes money, so I do consider that a job. He had money and was supporting himself and the kids before TLC. Unlike the Gosselins who had to get assistance to pay the bills. (not that there is anything wrong with that). Also the older kids do work, that is the way it worked back in earlier days. My mom came from a large family and the older ones took care of the younger and had many chores. She said she had a great time growing up. I guess I am a little more fond of the Duggars, My nephew and his wife pretty much raise their kids the same way, the have 8 and they have their hair long for religious reasons. And those kids are wa more happy and well adjusted that the Gosselin kids. I have never in my life seen so many melt downs and temper tantrums. And the little kids are getting just as bad. They were absolute brats to Kate's BFF son the other night. If I saw my kids acting like that to another kid. I would have a come to Jesus meeting with them. Did any of you catch that look that Hannah gave him. Man if looks could kill that boy would be dead. Satan is that you?

I do understand, I have a friend who is a L &D nurse and she says you wouldn't believe how many men refuse to let their wives have epidurals and the wives give in. NO WAY JOSE. I would grab him by the you-know-whats ever time I had a contraction and squeeze just as hard and as long. I bet they would change their minds quick. Don't you? lol

absolutely! I have every confidence that Anna Duggar knew and chose the life she has with Josh. And like you, while it isn't what I'd choose for myself .. it certainly seems to work for them!

I thought Jim Bob had his family declared a church so he could avoid paying income tax. There's one way to "make money".

Jim Bob makes money, so I do consider that a job. He had money and was supporting himself and the kids before TLC. Unlike the Gosselins who had to get assistance to pay the bills. (not that there is anything wrong with that). Also the older kids do work, that is the way it worked back in earlier days. I thought his father was somehow part of the memory, but I don't remember. Maybe he helped put it together?

No, I haven't watched at all this year and only minimally after Jodi left. That's nice about Jon building it, but do 8 kids fit on that? They spend money very freely, but not so much on the kids it appears. I think if someone had donated a big honking playground, they would have put it right on the driveway!

Well that is true also, But we must remember he was involved in politics. ha ha. So I guess avoiding paying taxes comes natural.

I'm sure Jim Bob and Michelle are getting enough money from TLC to live, but they do seem to have other income sources as well. Jim Bob and Michelle own property that they rent out. They also owned the used car lot that Josh now runs. If nothing else, Jim Bob knows how to save money. In one episode he was explaining how he negotiates with everyone about services. He mentioned doing it for hotel rooms, dentist fees, etc. Could you see Kate doing that? At least he realizes that he needs to pay something.

I thought they shared the holidays? Didn't he just say this before the birthday fiasco? I'm sure we'll have that leading up to the holidays and they'll manage to find a way to work it all out for a couple of hours.

And Hailey handles his schedule? That's creepy!

For many--Halloween is not one of those holidays for a shared arrangement.

T-day answer is odd--but it could be that Thursday is Kate's regular day, but he cannot be stopped from seeing them.
