Your scenario would work except that Kate is apparently like that with everybody, not just Jon. If you haven't read it, you should go to the link about the charity fundraiser with the skaters, which was just last weekend and Jon was nowhere near it.

But I do agree with you that Kate probably thought she could change Jon, and she nearly succeeded in turning him into a preppy guy who would never go snowboarding. But IMO, unless somebody really wants to change (for example, they want to be a professional so the wife convinces him to go to college) it never really works out in the end. People aren't happy being somebody they don't want to be. Kate should have married the kind of man she wanted in the first place, because it obviously wasn't Jon.

Hi! i agree with the idea behind this but with this added: I think Kate did marry the kind of man she wanted: an immature younger man. One who did whatever Kate said. One she could control & who just went along. Only when Jon started standing up & not just going along did we see trouble in the marriage. This is also basically what Jon has said in interviews. I have known women like this. Some one this controlling would marry someone" weaker" so in effect Kate did marry the kind of man she wanted.

CRY ME A RIVER! Whined about needing charity when she had the kids - pimped out her kids to get money. Instead of banking the money for the future and keeping their lifestyle the same.....they bought bought bought and increased their lifestyle 50 fold, and now she can't pay her bills!!!!! How many messy divorces are there among celebrities? They don't keep going to the media with every little thing! Why did she have to go on TV? Not necessary to play this out blow by blow on tv! Take care of it in private and get back to us when you all work it out! She is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Totally agree! Real celebrities don't seem to want all their private info made public. Seems the only ones we keep hearing about are reality TV stars who are famous for being famous, the ones who have no talent & just seem to be addicted to the spotlight.

On the flip side though, if you know controlling women who marry weaker men, then you also know weaker men who marry controlling women and maybe that is what they were looking for. Someone to take care of things, someone to take on the responsibility. Kate may have married the kind of man she wanted, but maybe Jon got what he wanted too.

I can't imagine Kate marrying a Kate-like type man or Jon marrying a Jon-like type woman.

Appearances can be deceiving when it comes to lawyers -- you just can't go by that. You're not hiring a lawyer for their appearance but their attention to details.

And if Heller has found a way to get the kids off the show, he must be pretty good.

I would love to have a statistic on how many people there are in the nation with 8 kids that are doing just fine taking care of themselves. Even single mothers with no father around. They have these things called JOBS and they don't live in mansions or have all designer clothes, but they are happy and healthy. I would bet there are a few right here on the DIS.

We have 7 and have done just fine thank you (even without a reality tv show!), and yes we're still married. We helped put our older ones through college, send the younger ones to parochial school (pay tuition), have a ncie home and still manage to take Disney vacations. We did it all on our own. We even, gasp, buy the kids gymboree clothes without them being donated.

Of course I never had Kate's sense of entitlement - that someone should help pay because we chose to have so many kids! Also I never talk to DH like Kate did to Jon - acting as if he's a complete idiot and she has to run the whole show. Oh wait, perhaps that's one of the reasons they are getting divorced.

They could give up the multi-million dollar homes, quit the show, and both get regular jobs. They could live like NORMAL PEOPLE! What do you think the odds are that Kate would want to do that?

Why was he on TV? Jon is unbelievable. They both need to shut-up.

I would break down after being robbed 200 grand BUT I would also break down if my dh was cheating on me, in the tabloids and getting a divorce. Didn't see alot of emotion then.

The thing is if she shows emotion then she is faking it, if she doesn't become emotional then she must not care. We have no idea what her and Jon have been through in the last year. I am sure there have been plenty of tears on both sides.

Kate says he withdrew $230,000 from the bank account between Aug. 10th and Sept. 29th -- not the day of LKL as her lawyer and the tabloids would have us believe -- so I guess that means he withdrew no money before that.
Kate admits to taking $100,000 out before she filed for divorce, and to draining the bank account herself after the arbitrator took over, but put the money back when the arbitrator demanded that she do so. Funny, Team Jon never brought this to the attention of the press, although they did bring up the missing $100,000 which was found hidden in the house.

Kate also said that Jon removed money days before she filed for divorce. So this must be the "Jon's actions have left me no choice but to file" statement that she made that we all have wondered about. Many of us felt that her statement over that weekend prior to filing had to be for financial reasons.
It was also this initial removal of money by Jon that caused her to remove the $100,000.

Yes, he does. He is just another addition to Jon's new group that comes off as completely trashy. Mr. Heller doesn't have the best reputation either.

Kate gave exact amounts! $231,000 to $ 1346 omg I would be livid. I can't blame her when my DD 13 was little we were dirt poor! I would be having an anxiety attack if my soon to be husband took not only my current ability to work (the show) and support my kids, while he is CURRENTLY contributing zilch as he has been pretty much let go by TLC, but had the hutzpuha to take all the money out of the bank to pay our household bills!

This is what really ticks me off about the "Gosselin's", their sense of entitlement. They think because they have 8 kids that everyone else should support them. Well what about all the families who have 7, 8 or more kids and support them without a show? Jon & Kate are so used to be given everything that they don't appreciate anything. Its never enough! Now she goes crying on national tv that they don't have any money to feed the kids because Jon stole their mad money!

Kate is crying because money is very important to her and no show means no more freebies, trips and donations! I'm sure those kids were crying because she threatened them with no more fun trips because of Daddy! Boo Hoo Kate, go out and get a real job that doesn't involve exploiting your kids!

I just watched the show, and I am no Kate lover by any stretch, but If and I do IF any of this is true, what we have to remember is the kids. They are the ones who will be suffering. I would hate to think of them being uprooted and to be a mom and worried about feeding your kids would be beyond imaginable to me. Not to mention the holidays are coming up. While it is true that Kate is a nurse. contrary to popular belief most hospitals are not hiring nurses and in fact are laying off some. Plus al the time she has been away, she would be to take some refresher classes and also do some clinicals in the hospital just like nursing school and for what, Hospitals aren't hiring and I bet even if they were, they wouldn't hire her because she is famous at this point in life and it might not go over well with alot of patients. Like I said she is not my favorite person and in fact I really don't like her at all, I am just thinking about the kids.

Hospitals are hiring in my area. I see ads all the time for nurses.

They should have been saving their money and not spending like crazy. I do not believe for one minute that they are unable to pay their bills.

Of course she is going on with her life, are you saying she should have gone to the press the minute he took money out? Kate didn't say money was suddenly missing, she stated a detailed account with dates of when Jon started taking out the money and how much money it was.

Just listened to Kate on the View. I think what we have here is a long-term psychological reaction to the the fact that she had once found herself in a situation where she had no means to support her children and vowed never to put herself in that situation again.

I don't think it is fair to say "She should just be a nurse again." I think that she is right that they can only go forward. This lifestyle is the lifestyle that her kids are accustomed to. As a parent, I would feel so much liked I had failed if I were to suddenly take everything away that my children understand to be "normal".

She says this is the way that they earn money for the family. Jon clearly has no source of income seriously planned to support them (so what child support could she expect? Alimony?). Maybe long-term the show should end if it is really affecting the children....but I'm not sure that I would make different decisions in the short term if it meant seriously disrupting my children's lifestyle (and thus lead to other negative effects).

Also, what proof do we have that these kids are so damaged by being on TV? Really, do these kids act-out any more than any average child and, of course, all we really see is what is on camera?

Honestly, I think a lot of folks are just jealous that Kate is savvy and has found away to provide opportunities and freebies for her children.

Also, it is interesting that the same people who say "she should be home with her children" are the one's who say she should get a normal job to support her kids---which would take her away from home on a regular basis and require the use of babysitters (yet the use of babysitters is also criticized).

The poor woman just can't win in the "court of public opinion".

I do realize that mine is the minority opinion---but so be it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and that's min.

Yes, there are several withdrawals made by Kate totaling something like $570,000. I wonder what on earth those were for? That's a lot of money. According to Jon, that's a whole year's worth of doing the show. Apparently Kate hasn't given written proof for those sums. I'm not quite sure what to make of this.
