Who's turn from TLC to read our comments today? Be sure to tell Kate, that isn't a good idea!

yes! bike helmets and swim vests (instead of water wings/floaties) for the kids, please!

and if you make it into a show, please give the DISers credit! :happytv:

Maybe the owners of the DIS could pay to have her shown surfing the DIS.

Ooooh, what a dream job that would be!!:cloud9: Sign me up with Kate!

As far as the Hershey bar thing...seriously, what other chocolate does anyone use besides Hershey for smores? It doesn't bother me in the least that they showed a commercial for it or the one for Coleman's camping supplies either. That's just the way it rolls...advertisers want to plug their products in so they pay their fee and J&K+8 get some of the benefits. I was seriously clueless that any of that stuff was product placement till I read it here!

Yes it is.

Here he is celebrating his children's 5th birthday and wearing a t-shirt from a college neither he nor Kate attended....instead it was the college of his g.f.??? Oh my. I wonder if this was ever discussed...I wonder if Kate caught the connection.

I just can't imagine getting so upset about a little product placement?? :confused3

The way I see it is in "The Truman Show" context. ...Let's pause for a moment of our fun camping day and lift up and show the hershy label. Cut to mom who looks at the camera and talks about how they always use hersey bars for their smores, isn't that right Leah....

It's a twisted way to live your life, where everything is staged and strategically placed for money. I don't like it.

:scared1: What? I seriously hope this is not true. I wonder what the explanation could be for having a 23 year old (why are they always that age with him?) leaving your home in the morning. Just when I thought Jon couldn't get any dumber...:sad2:
:) He has a long way to go still, I think!

Well if you don't like it, then don't do it with your family. :confused3

Everyone has a right to their opinion. I don't think it is horrible about the Hershey bars, but where does it stop? When does it stop being a reality show and become one big huge commerical for strategically placed products?

More and more shows are doing this again and again. They say it is because of TIVO and DVR's...people tape the shows and ff through all the commericals so they need to incorporate them into the show. I am kinda used to it now. Biggest Loser has been doing it for years and I think they actually hold some record for the MOST product placements on tv.

I agree. I got DVR so that I wouldn't have to watch commercials but now they are just putting it in the TV show. It is slightly annoying.

I watched the show that was before the new one when they were talking about their problems. I saw more the second time around. Jon kept saying he was 32, and I kept thinking what does that matter when you have kids? He said he had been so passive and let Kate rule everything. Ok, so why not talk about it and change things? I also noted that Kate said he would not talk to her. I know she has been wrong, but how right is it for him to close her off and start this behavior. I think she has a lot of ammunition to get full custody. It is just so sad to me, so very sad. I keep thinking that he will wake up but it may be too late when he does. They really loved each other. Why throw it away?????? Why keep using your age????? Kate does seem more relaxed. If he is staying out all night, can you imagine how grumpy he is with 8 kids all day? I have one and if i dont get my sleep I am out of whack. Oh, I forgot I am 41!!

there have been a few (maybe just one) shows where it was pretty much a commercial .. I'm thinking it was the show where they plugged the Wii? Maybe not that one, but there was one where several products were plugged. I remember people here being bugged about it.

JK8 (the show) has always ranked high in shows with product placements.

I don't mind it when it involves adults in any show such as Biggest Loser. My problem is the children whose very lives are being dictated by the products (all products/places/things over the years) placed in the show. A pp referred to liking Kate's new 'character'. It's sad, but I think that really sums it up, except that while the parents may be playing characters, the kids are just real kids stuck it a commercial. Who knows if they know what is real and what is not. Just like Truman, I bet given the choice, they would leave the made up world for a real one.

Also some of you are asking about the pool, Kate said they use the pool almost every day. I'm sure lots of people send letters and e-mails to TLC with their concerns, but I really do have a legit on. One of the little girls, put about 3-4 rings around herself, and arm rings around her arms. She jumped off the deep end of the pool, and those rings kept her afloat. If she would of tipped upside down, those floats would of held her under upside down. The lifeguard in me (my teenage years) just cringed when I saw the camera catch that on tape. I know someone would of jumped in and helped her that day, but if she does it, and only Kate is there, does Kate even know how to swim? She mentioned she is a sun worshiper and they showed her laying on the chair and not swimming while the kids were swimming. I think Ashley was in the pool with them that day.

:scared1::scared1: Didn't see the episode but those float rings and armbands scare the heck out of me -- I know alot of lifeguards who won't even let kids in the pool with the armbands, let alone in the deep end. It just seems so non-Kate (but not in a good way) to let this go one

kinda like the bike riding with the helmets. I really, really, really wish they'd do something about that. it makes me cringe every single time. I can't imagine a bike safety group hasn't contacted the show about that issue.

Exactly!!:thumbsup2

they've never shown any concern to safety when the kids are on bikes or Cara is riding her scooter. No helmets, flip flops on their feet while riding .. those children are lucky they haven't had an accident. And I'm not 100% sure that we haven't seen Cara riding a scooter barefooted.

PS. the kids do have helmets. when they're seen, it's hanging from the handlebars of the bikes. real effective.

there was a thread on Dis a couple of weeks ago about helmet use -- somebody who works in an ER posted that head injuries from accidents on scooters happen more often than bikes now.

Maybe some of the "witchy with a b" attitude came from having to deal with an immature husband 24 hours a day. Maybe we didn't see the real Jon that she had to deal with. I just can't believe he has changed that much since they split. The problems had been going on for quite awhile according to them. Once my ex and I separated, I was in a much better mood. I didn't even realize how uptight and stressed I was until after it was over. She needs to surround herself with positive people at this point. She seemed to be in a much better place on last night's episode. She didn't even show any feeling when one of the kids said "Daddy knows everything about tents". She just said, "Well, daddy's not here".

Marsha

Sorry, I just don't think that anybody can use somebody else's behaviour as an excuse for behaving badly. So I would never excuse Kate's behaviour to Jon over the years any more than I would excuse Jon for withdrawing and not standing up for himself and the kids when Kate was losing it.

I read the article, I looked at the pictures -- I don't think they prove the story any more than many of the tabloid articles which have since proved to be false. I'll wait until there's a pic of them holding hands.

Ok, I get it now. Yup, that's twisted.

There hadn’t been a new episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 since June 22 when the pair announced they were divorcing and based on the ratings for Monday night’s return on TLC, there was a lot of pent-up interest in tumultuous life of Jon and Kate Gosselin.

Four million viewers tuned in for the new 9 PM episode and 4.2 million for the new 9:30 PM show.

Although the numbers don’t compare to the big divorce-reveal show, that was an hour-long episode. These new numbers represent a considerable jump over 30-minute episodes from last season.

Not seen on Monday nights shows, however, was Jon’s new babysitter Stephanie Santoro. As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, she’s a 22-year-old former cocktail waitress who has sleep-over duty.

They say there are two sides to every story—though when you're dealing with Jon Gosselin, there tend to be three or four.

So Kate Major, the divorcing reality-TV star's latest love interest, has sat down with E! News to talk about where things stand between her and Gosselin, as well as how they met, what their hookup meant for Hailey Glassman, and the future Major is hoping for with the 32-year-old father of eight.

"I would be lying if I said there wasn't instant chemistry between us," says Major of Gosselin, whom she met earlier this year while she was working as a reporter for Star and was sent to Pennsylvania to cover the unraveling of his 10-year marriage. The two of them went out to dinner the following night.

"Do I regret anything? Not really," Major says, although, since being outed as Gosselin's new gal-pal, she apparently has had some second thoughts.

"Would I do it again? Probably not," she admits to E!

Major also talks about interviewing both Gosselin and his first postmarital squeeze, Hailey Glassman, whom Jon spent a weekend with in St.-Tropez and was rumored to be engaged to less than two weeks before being spotted at a New York restaurant with Major.

As you can imagine, that wasn't the easiest subject for Major to open up about.

She also gives us the lowdown on the current status of her and Jon's relationship.

"Right now, there is no happily ever after," Major reveals. However, "[I was] really, really impressed—and I still am—with the person that he is."

"It is a huge relief to finally talk," Major says. "I haven't been speaking a lot in the past few days because of how crazy everything has been, and I'm ready to talk."

"I'm here to tell my side of the story."

Watch the entire interview with Kate Major exclusively on E! News this week, beginning Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m. & 11:30 p.m., and running through Friday, Aug. 7.

Was it whirlpool? It's possible she kept those appliances with the remodel, someone will have to let us know, otherwise, oops too bad for Whirlpool!

Any numbers on last night?
