Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 5

Ok I guess I didn't think people would happen to camp outside their house for SEVEN WEEKS! :scared1: Those pictures must bring in some amazing money to make it worth that...

People Magazine, paparazzi and other media outlets have been outside the gated Gosselin home in Wernersville, Berks County, for weeks. Some of the paparazzi, who did not want to go on camera, said they had camped outside the home for seven weeks.

There have also been quite a few fans, trying to sneak a peak of reality TV's most famous family.

"I want to see Kate Gosselin. That's my goal of the week -- is Kate Gosselin," said Mitchell Hackman, 17.

"My mom is here from Michigan. And she's a big fan of the show, and she wanted to come up and see the house," said Melinda Morkin, from Lancaster.

Christian publisher Zondervan seemed to have a sure winner with this one: plans to publish “Love is in the Mix: Making Meals into Memories” by Kate Gosselin this fall. Then Jon and Kate announced they were getting divorced. Terms like “adultery” and “neglectful parenting” were added to the mix and suddenly the project looked a lot less promising.
Certainly the publisher’s promise that the book would be “an inside look at one of America’s most close-knit families” started to sound pretty hollow after the June 22 television broadcast on which the reality show stars explained that they were separating. So now what happens to the book, scheduled for release in November?

Maureen “Moe” Girkins, CEO of Zondervan, has said the company plans to “work with Kate to reassess the schedule for her next book.”

But some people think it’s time to shelve the book. Tim Penning, assistant professor of communications at Grand Valley State University in Michigan, told USA Today that he thinks the publisher is probably going to need to hold off.

“It would be a fine line for them to try to sell this book with the kind of revelations that have happened,” Penning, who teaches public relations, told USA Today. “I think the public generally understands that it was a good idea, but times have changed. Zondervan has to think about not just this product, but their brand and their reputation. They should also be thinking about Jon and Kate, too.”

It would not, however, be an easy book to abandon. The previous two titles from the Gosselin family, “Multiple Blessings: Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets,” and the picture book “Eight Little Faces,” both also published by Zondervan, were bestsellers.

Ok I think I'm done for the day.....sorry guys! Didn't mean to over load you with more articles. Hopefully there's something in there someone will find worthy of reading.

Have an awesome weekend and don't type too much - I don't want to have to spend all morning Monday trying to catch up! :goodvibes

Kate Gosselin’s book about cooking for a close-knit family is still a pending project for Christian publisher Zondervan, according to USA Today.

Slated for release Oct. 13, the book “Love is in the Mix: Making Meals into Memories” contains family insights, prayers and recipes from the maligned star of the show “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” which recently concluded on TLC with the announcement that Gosselin and her husband would be separating after acts of infidelity and neglectful parenting. The two have eight children.

The book would be the third associated with the family released by Zondervan. Many speculate that the release of the book will have to be pushed back, given the swirling negative publicity currently surrounding the Gosselins.

there's one of the blindgossip items that is true .. which, I don't think anyone considers a surprise. at least I don't. I always figured the book would come out, unless there is substantial/significant proof Kate (since she's the author) was behaving in a way that didn't support Zondervan's mission.

Some interesting comments from a local story in the Reading Eagle announcing the news of the divorce:

I have only actually met the family 1 time. They get their kids hair cut at the same place I take my daughter, on Penn Ave (Kids Cuts). Seemed very nice. I have watched the show, as I know a few of the production folks AND, I admit, I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I watched the show last night, and the only thing that I took from it, that rubbed me wrong, was something Jon said. He was commenting on how they are being watched 24/7 and never get any privacy. How people were taking notes on what they ate for lunch. As I respect what he said, that is what a life in front of a camera is like. They make their money by living ON CAMERA. Sharing 'what you had for lunch' with the world. I find it odd that he doesn't like the attention, yet he does a reality show. with 5 years under their belt, maybe he should have said no to the next contract. I think they are good folks, again, from the very little I know- not what I read or see on an edited show. Without cameras around, raising that many kids would be tough on ANYONE. Yes, they will get ripped apart in the press and around the coffee machines world-wide, but they should still get credit as humans, and left to have life issues, as the rest of us do, without having to explain it to anyone else.

BTW, I'm not sure there's even a structure at 2269 Shillington Road.

I'm assuming this comment is referring to the address listed on the website with the divorce information. Maybe someone could confirm?

By the way,you really dont want to meet Kate, I have known her for years and she was always a b***h now she is a celebrity b***h ! She would most likely tell you to mind your own business if you made any conversation with her.

I've always read that the locals didn't think highly of her and I'm sure the comments section of an article isn't the best place to look for support but yikes! I like hearing what the locals say/think/feel because they're there I guess and interact with it more maybe than what I just see on TLC and read here on the DIS (or google when I have time to venture out...).

the address is likely where they get their mail (sleuthed on one of the blogs) -- the Kinko's/Fedex place.

Did I miss this announcement?!

you must have .. that book has been in the works for a little while now.

No! this part: which recently concluded on TLC with the announcement that Gosselin and her husband would be separating after acts of infidelity and neglectful parenting.

The article (quoted below), according to the times on Google, was released after the first article I posted (the one you quoted I believe) so I'm not sure what to believe now!

Christian publisher Zondervan seemed to have a sure winner with this one: plans to publish “Love is in the Mix: Making Meals into Memories” by Kate Gosselin this fall. Didn't think of that. We have a FedEx account and I searched that address and got this:

Address 2669 SHILLINGTON ROAD, Sinking Springs, PA 19608 was not found. Based on your search criteria, there are 500 locations near 2669 Shillington Rd, Sinking Spring, PA 19608-1758. The first 5 results are listed below.

http://www.fedex.com//Dropoff/SearchAction.do

There are a TON of FedEx locations by them so I have no idea what FedEx store they frequent (nor do I care really!). I also thought Jon goes out to get the mail at their house or something weird like that....it would seem logical that they have a PO box or something as I can only imagine the craziness that would ensue if someone got ahold of their mail. Of course, me thinking like I do, I could also see anyone seeing mail with their name getting ahold of it and sharing it with the world. I would think nothing's in their name and goes to a "secure" location - maybe an attorney's office or something like that???

I know I said I was done but the address thing had me interested. I googled their address (I'm trying to make this afternoon go by just a bit more quickly!!) and came up with this:

I guess I would think on something like that you'd have to have the address where you're living - not just where you're getting mail???? And, like I said before, that does NOT seem like a safe place to get your mail if you're "famous". Watch out poor UPS Store, I can see some crazy stalker fan (or "p" person looking for the next big story!) breaking in and trying to steal mail or packages regardless if it's a Federal offense or not! :scared:

Ok....OT but if anyone needs any other reading for the weekend, feel free to stop by my PTR (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2153582). We're leaving in 18 days (so long as all is resolved with DS2's foot!)!!! :cool1::woohoo::banana:

Ok back to J&K....As weird as it is to not have a million new pictures of their every move posted today, I'm hoping they're enjoying the break provided to them by other recent events and others untimely passing.

All I have to add ......Is that I am sorry for KrissyPA in the fore mentioned quotes.

Spell check woman please!!!

Thanks for posting that -- you're right, what the locals say is a lot more revealing than what TLC and the tabloids feed to us.

there's one of the blindgossip items that is true .. which, I don't think anyone considers a surprise. at least I don't. A huge conference in Toronto cancelled her appearance there in the fall -- apparently they're not too happy with her attitude as of late.

No! this part: which recently concluded on TLC with the announcement that Gosselin and her husband would be separating after acts of infidelity and neglectful parenting.

I missed that too -- oooh! that doesn't beat around the bush, does it?

Re: the apt. in NY

http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/...osselin-planning-get-job-in-new-york-9153.php

A summary for those of you who can't go to the link: according to this article, Brian Sep (who has been friends with Jon for 15 years) says Jon is going to be working in NY mon-thurs, staying in the house fri-sun. Plus, they had already been living separately for some time.

His friend says he is happy Jon is finally getting back to being his old self.

However, there are rumours that TLC was trying to get Jon to take a 4 bdrm apt and have the kids go there to visit him every 2nd week, film him taking the kids around NY (FAO Schwartz toy store was mentioned) -- TLC agreed to pay part of the rent if he went along. Apparently, he won't do that.

There was also a rumour that the apartment hunting was just part of ramping up to a spot on Celebrity Apprentice but I think that this article dispels that.

Working? Doing what? I wonder what that means. :confused3

So he will be away from them every Mon.-Thursday? :(

He gets the kids 3 days, she gets them 4 days. Since they are doing the custody in the house, and there are only 7 days a week, that's the way it's going to work out.

BTW, you people are CHATTY. At this rate we will be on thread #6 in less than two weeks!

I am going over to read your PTR . If anyone wants even more reading come on by my PTR too here :rotfl:. We are taking my 20 year old son, his girlfriend, and her two kids to WDW in November. I need advice on the kids front, I am scared  :rotfl2:.

I hope you are right that they enjoy this break from the media and try to get back to normal a bit.

He is going back to IT I thought. I am glad to see he will not bring the kids to NY and film them.

Really? I hadn't heard that.

We are pretty chatty.:goodvibes Sheesh, you should have seen how quickly this thread moved the night of the season 5 premiere! That should be some kind of record on the dis!
