Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 4

What could they possibly say that wouldn't be torn apart? If they stuck up for her, some would say see..she needs someone to stick up for her. If they don't, people say, doesn't she have any friends? I wonder if she is protecting her friends and wants them to stay out of it, so they don't end up with paparazzi in their faces. Of course this is just an opinion..I have no facts as to why everyone is staying in the background.

Actually I would think the opposite. If someone came out in Kate's defense like Beth I would think that she has some loyal friends who must know her better than what we're being shown. Maybe you're right though that she is protecting them and asking them not to come forward and join the media circus. I've said this before too, if this were my daughter and I thought people were portraying her wrongly, I'd be making my voice heard. It is sad that maybe Kate has nobody. I hope that's not true though. She's a mess and really needs some good counsel from someone who cares about her and her family. Jon could use some good counsel as well.

I'm with Marge on that, that people started commenting that it was getting boring. I personally thought it was getting boring and pretty much watched repeats only when it was pretty convenient for me (for instance when I was already trapped at the computer), rather than taking time out of my evening to watch the show. I'm doing that now, as well.

I thought season 4 was getting VERY boring and missed episodes here and there.

I hope and pray that this is the case. I've said all along that I hope that Jon and Kate have people in their lives that have their (Jon and Kate's) best interests in mind and are helping them steer their way through this journey. Some that cares about them, and not trying to earn a living off their success. One of the saddest things I think I've ever read was when Kate said that their circle had gotten so small that they were surrounded by mostly "people" (publishers, nannies, et al) and there was little mention of friends, at least from Kate.

Jon, OTOH, seems to never be at a loss for people to hang out with.

I agree. I read that article too and it was depressing. Kate said that she was terrified that her remaining friends would leave her so keeps calling them to beg them not to. It's just such a mess. What's even sadder to me is that her family seems to be out of the picture. I wish her Mom would just step in and counsel her. Regardless of what has passed between them. She needs serious help with all of this. As far as Jon goes, I think he's already made his decision to move on if you ask me.

Not much new on this link from MSNBC other than the statement that the police were not called because of Kate spanking Leah.

There is a very interesting video of Jon and Kate back when the babies were born that I had never seen before. It shows a team going in and remodeling the first house they had. Also shows Mady and Cara when they were 4 and even has Mady talking some. They were so cute! The video is to the right of the article.

I think that it's good the cops were called by Kate (or someone with her) and not about Kate. The paps need to give those people some space.

Do we know when the cops were there? Is is possible that the paps were really awful and harassing Kate after the spank which happened around 11am, if I recall. There appeared to be a regular cop and a state trooper.

If this was my daughter, I'd have no choice but to respect what she wanted me to do. If it was to stay in the background and be quiet I would.
I wouldn't want to make a mistake and make things worse for her.

Maybe all her phone calls are to her mom or friends when she can't stand the pap anymore and they sooth her (no facts to back this up).

If this was my daughter, I'd have no choice but to respect what she wanted me to do. If it was to stay in the background and be quiet I would.

I'd respect my daughter's wishes too, if she told me not to speak up I wouldn't. I hope those phone calls include her Mom as well. I'm sure she's aware of what Kate is going through since it's sadly chronicled by the tabloids. I've said it before that Kate (and Jon actually) make me crazy at times but I wish things could turn out well for them. I just really think their priorities are skewed now. Their kids need them. It must be confusing for them to be with Mom for a certain amount of time and then Dad shows up again, etc.

There are words on the screen that indicate changes are coming and you see Jon walking in the background away from Kate. It makes you think they are either ending the show or they are splitting up for good. this isn't the commercial for the crooked houses? I saw that one last night, and was wondering when it was filmed, based on what they were wearing. what I saw doesn't sound at all like what you describe ... hmmm.

And I wonder what Kate thought of what Mady says at the end when asked if they liked their mom ("I still like Daddy better")? That has to hurt a mom, especially broadcast on TV. Maybe the Mady water incident was right after that, and Kate was thinking "Darn kid, we'll just let your Daddy get you some water"

That's part of my previous post (where I was just kidding), and I wanted to add that I watched both interviews again and what do you know, they ARE wearing the same clothes in both interviews (this CBS one and the Access H one in which Kate denies Mady the water), so they must have done both interviews one after the other. I'd love to know which was taped first. Maybe Kate really WAS angry at Mady for that comment after all. Or maybe Mady was mad at Kate about the water and that's why she said she liked Daddy better.

I thought this compliation of Kate's Top 10 angry moments was interesting, because it makes me think - even though I wish differently - maybe these two are actually better apart after all:

Now they should do one of Jon's Top 10 wimpy moments (though that's also covered in some of the above)

One side puts out rumors i.e. "Jon cheated with a young girl, Jon is cheating with plastic surgeon's young daughter, Jon was drunk at bar(s), Jon meets up with girlfriend in Utah, etc." followed by the other side "Kate cheated first with bodyguard (Steve N), Steve (& Gina) N divorce was finalized in April and Kate is a couple with Steve N who now lives with Kate, Steve N lived in Maryland and he arranged the Charm City cake visit for Kate's birthday present from him, Kate drinks a bottle of wine a day, and the latest: Kate beats her kids, etc." and on and on 'till you can't remember all the spin you've heard and read, only that it gets more ridiculous as time goes on.

I'm glad Jon removed himself from the media circus. I wish Kate would do the same, or at least take the kids out of the spotlight. It's uncomfortable to wade through all the rumors on both sides and then TLC wants us to watch them do "happy" (manufactured/fake?) times and expects us to buy it.

I wish they would finally just come clean with the truth, even if they don't have to do it for us (the public), and even if there are 40 show episodes promised to TLC.

I can't find the newest commercial online, but have seen descriptions like Kritter's on 2 other sites. it's definitely not the commercial that you and I saw.

If this is true that they are indeed splitting up for real and this is the way they are announcing it I am totally disgusted by the whole thing, Jon, Kate, TLC and all the hangers on. I don't often get passionate about things posted in this thread because I think most of it is hateful and even worse then the tabloids thinly disguesed as concern. (JMHO no offense to any particular poster) But that is just WRONG on so many levels. The whole ball of wax if thats the way they are going to do it. They don't owe me an explanation as a viewer and that is a horrid way to get ratings and exploit a family on TLC's part if this does indeed turn out to be the way things are going to go down......
I guess I will tune in, I have nothing better to do on Monday nights but I hope this isn't what is going to happen.


On the subject of Kate spanking Leah why is this even a huge issue? I know different people have different opinions on this and I admit mine have changed over the years except in the case of danger like running out in the street or something like that, but this is extremely common practice in the US and hardly a story IMHO.

Didn't they get the Crooked Houses before the OCC episodes? I thought I remember a point where Mikey is trying to get into one of the houses the kids are playing in when he was hanging out with the them...just trying to figure out when all this stuff was filmed...
