This reminds me so much of when Prince Charles and Princess Diana broke up. And it became all about who could play the media game better. Who could throw the most dirt and get it to stick. Who could come out smelling like a rose.

oh yes .. I think you're right about that.

and somewhere in the midst of it all is the truth.

I don't understand why though, because she is nice? I just don't see it.

I don't understand either, is it because she IS nice then?:confused3 Some people are genuinely kind, I've come across people like that, seriously. :goodvibes

If you don't see it you won't......and no amount of explaining is going to help. Especially after this killer margarita that DH made for me. ;)

I don't think there are many that defend everything Kate does LOL. I do like to think she's not a monster that doesn't care about her children, and I do believe that we don't see a lot about their church or even some of the nicer times of Kate because it doesn't make exciting TV, and if we don't talk about the show, TLC won't have as many watching it. I think we have another show with lots of kids that many people has said is boring. I don't think that show will have a long run, because of it. I don't like the back of her hair, and I will be happy if she goes home for a bit and works on her family.

The big problem for me is, I really don't know who is telling the truth, and I hate to say either of them are bad people, without knowing if they are. Sometimes divorce happens and it's just because two people aren't compatible, but I don't know if divorce is going to happen here or not. I don't know if Kate being on the road with her book is part of the breakdown, or if Kate is on the road with her book because there is a breakdown.

I do know that I have been around on the Dis long enough to see several sides of many situations. I also know (or think I do) that most of the adults principals seem to have money as part of what they are doing. I do know that I watch the show, and I believe from watching it, that both parents love the kids a lot and share in their upbringing. Even if one person gets up early with them, I don't think that means the other person doesn't work equally as hard in their upbringing.

I don't know if they are rolling in money, or if a good part of it went into the house and cars. I don't know if the home life is a calm, nice one for the kids. I don't know if the kids have nice bank accounts because of the show. I don't know if either J or K has cheated on the other. I don't know if Kevin and Jodi have been paid to say what they are saying. I don't know if any of them are being honest. I don't know if any of the mag rags are really quoting J & K, and I don't know if TLC is playing us all, to make sure the show is well watched.

I have played Devil's Advocate several times, because I think it makes this thread interesting. There are plenty of threads out there that hate Kate, are happy to see her tumble (even though the family may tumble with her), and it's nice that this thread isn't all about that.

.
There are some people on the thread that will defend everything that Kate does, no matter what. Most of the people on the thread see the good and bad. And then there are some that became disillusioned by the show and just aren't buying it anymore.

Like Madge said, it really depends on the day.

Oooohhh! That's an excellent observation, themilesfamily! I concur.

This really should be the "we love Kate thread, except for 2 or 3 ."
I mean that in all honesty.

Actually, as of right now, it's more anti-Kate!:lmao:

not at all.

this thread has cycled through many phases. sometimes the non-fans outweigh the fans .. sometimes people just have discussions with no real like or dislike for Kate. It just depends on the day of the week.

I'm usually in the debate/not a fan camp, but I have to admit .. it's really hard for me to keep up with what's going on in this thread lately. It's moving so fast, there's lots of new faces (which isn't bad), and it seems like everyone is saying the same thing at the same time. I'm a little overwhelmed.

I agree, this thread has in the last week or so averaged 100 pages!!!:scared1:

Yup, I agree. Some people defend Kate, say they are just like her. Some people really can't stand her and think everything she does is wrong. Then you have people in the middle, which is where I fall at times. I like to hear both sides though, I think it keeps the thread in check so as to be all love or all hate!:lmao:

Good point! It really is becoming a media circus. Come one, come all to the freak show that is Jon and Kate! He said yada yada yada and then she said blah blah blah! I truly, honestly wish they could work it out and get back to normalcy both for themselves and the kids though. Maybe it's too late and that would be sad but I'm hoping they're at least willing for the kids sake.

I am tired of reading that Kate does not want to give up this new lifestyle. If people don't go and see her and television shows don't have her on, then she has to give it up. It is up to the public not her whether or not she stays in her current role.

I think that Kevin confronted Kate because he was upset that she was interfering in something that should have been between he, Jodi and TLC. I know my dh would be pissed if someone did that to us, no matter if the contract was for money or anything. Kate should have not been involved. I understand if she is a producer to edit the contents of the show, but not contracts for other people.

Unfortunately I have a lot of time on my hands while on bedrest, so you won't be rid of me all day, people.

Glad you're at least recovering and we're able to provide some entertainment for you! :goodvibes

I hate the "mother has to get up with the children" mentality. My ex husband had that...one of the many reasons why he is my ex.

I'm sorry you had to get divorced but that just made me :rotfl2:

Do we know when this was taped? So now Jon has his own secret thing? And something to do with the Olympics?:surfweb:

Was there ever any thruth to the Olympics stuff? That "interview" seemed all too weird - he was saying a lot of "off the wall" stuff that just doesn't make sense. Like saying Kate was more mellow?? And who (besides the reporter) did he keep talking to off camera? And he doesn't like "fame" but when "they" (hopefully meaning him and Cara only) walked around Park City, he was sure to take a stack of pictures with him to "dish out"? (his words - I think that's what he said! Please correct me if I misheard that!! :goodvibes ) He just sounded VERY immature - lots of "like...like....like" - he and Kate have that same problem - talking about texting everyone and stuff like that and calling people "weird" for not wanting to be on camera......not everyone wants to be on tv.

:dance3: <---That'll be us!! I'm calling Kate right now!!

I'm sure you will have a WONDERFUL time! Maybe Kate will pay this time! :thumbsup2

This thread has gotten so hard to keep up with. :scared1:

Amen! :surfweb:

[/B]

A work colleague got interviewed for the local paper about a crime in her neighbourhood - she was shocked that the 3 minute 'informal' chat she had with the reporter - she said she said maybe 15-20 words to him - turned into a 3/4 page spread! She thought it was funny that they'd taken her "Um, well, yes I saw something...No never saw that, er, not sure" etc, into a very wordy, detailed interview!

We are currently facing something similar to this with my employer. A comment was made. Well, part of the statement (of course not the best part!) was pulled out and used as the first article on the front page of a Sunday paper throwing the entire town into controversy. We're choosing to have "no comment" instead of trying to dish the latest and greatest info though...that seems to be the difference between this and "real life" for me right now.

not at all.

So true! I myself even seem to go back and forth - loving Kate or not so much.

I think that Kevin confronted Kate because he was upset that she was interfering in something that should have been between he, Jodi and TLC. I know my dh would be pissed if someone did that to us, no matter if the contract was for money or anything. Kate should have not been involved. Agreed!

I watched the Jon's 30th surprise party this time. It was a really great episode but it was awful seeing Kate sit on the beach and talk about how every couple needs to focus on their marriage and theirs seems to be falling apart right now...:sad2: It was so nice to see Jodi and Beth though! I so hope they're still involved with the kids and that nothing that's "public knowledge" is a conversation topic at this point! Just love and support those kids. Listen - do not speak. Be there for them.

Let's just say I was in the same situation as Kevin and Jodi and I was on the show and keeping the kids for free that would be great with me. If I knew that the show wanted to pay me some money to film at my house then great, who doesn't need a little extra cash. Ok, so I find out that my sister does not want me to be paid, I think I would be upset also. I would not be taking anything away from her. I guess I just don't get the big problem is. I would want my family to be paid if it were the other way around just to help them out.

I'm so glad that you said this b/c I was thinking the exact same thing, just not sure how to put the words.

I got the feeling that they were more upset that they had helped so much with J&K's kids and the children were filmed at their house, and Kate got mad that TLC wanted to compensate them. I guess that would bother me too if it came across as "only we get paid" kind of attitude. Selfishness has a way of putting a sour taste in people's mouths, too.

Yet at the same time, when I hear that Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin are claiming to be doing this "for the kids", well, i just don't buy that either.

Who knows what these people are thinking? :confused3

I'm sorry you had to get divorced but that just made me :rotfl2:

.

The entire marriage sucked, the actual divorce SUCKED because ex is a fruitloop, but I haven't been happier since!! Been married 5 years to DH and I couldn't be happier!!

Anyone see the promo for the new season?
I love how they try to trick us into thinking it's going to be full of more drama than it actually will be.

Apparently it's the first time Jon and Kate have spoken to each other or something ridicuous like that.

The only one I've seen is with them on the side of an ice cream truck. I don't watch tv much these days.

Sorry if this was already discussed here, but the previous poster newtodis mentions Park City and it made me think of this from US Magazine:

And on March 28, Hummel and a girlfriend attended Spring Gruv with Jon in Utah while Kate was away.

http://www.usmagazine.com/news/fami...suspicious-of-kate-and-her-bodyguard--2009125

So what is it with Jon and Utah anyway? Better anonymity there? This wasn't when he was there on the father/daughter trip with Cara was it? If so, Cara might have been their "beard" (cover) during the trip.

:happytv:

I watched the Jon interview from January in Utah and it's kinda funny, that just a few months ago he was happy talking about the show, the trips, the "babysitter", and all the good stuff they've gotten from the show. Now, at the end of the season, he "can't be just Jon, he has to be Jon & Kate plus 8", and doesn't want to be in the spotlight anymore.

Very different picture from the January interview, and the March end of season interview.

I'm not an expert in media matters but that whole situation just doesn't ring true with me. If it did happen, then they have every right to be annoyed, but then they said they were paid by TLC.

They say Kate didn't want them to get paid, but then they say they did get paid? Was it not enough?

And if TLC did want to pay them more or give them a contract, why would it matter what Kate thought?

TLC are in charge of production, JK may be producers but in name only, they obviously don't have much say in editing because they can be portrayed in a fairly negative light - Kate especially at times. I know she says she doesn't mind, but what else can she say? It's already out there.

TLC are a large corporation - if they want someone to have a contract - they will.

What could Kate do? Refuse to have them film? Then JK would be in breach of contract, and as had been mentioned, Kate loves the attention being on TV gives her. Why would she give that up?

I just don't see that TLC would kowtow to what Kate wants, she's not in charge of contracts or money. TLC will do what is beneficial to them - not to that family. They are out to make a profit and get ratings.

Personally I feel it's more likely TLC turned Jodi down for more $, but Kate makes a better villian than a faceless corporation.
