Do you really think these eight little people are going to someday read the statements made by Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin about their own mother -- which will still be floating around on the internet -- and APPRECIATE them?

I think they're going to be embarrassed, mortified, angry, betrayed.

This is a family behaving badly. Jon, Kate, Jodi, Kevin. All of them. I don't see any of them acting nobly at this point. What a mess.

Totally agree!

I couldn't agree less. Kevin and Jodi could have simply put a statement on the sister's blog -- isn't that where they've posted things in the past? Or how about a private letter to Kate? Why is it important for the public to know "their side?" I think they could have communicated their message without going to the tabloids. And the things they said -- Kate is money-hungry, Kate drew up a contract allowing Jon to have girlfriends, etc., etc. How is putting that out to the public going to help Jon & Kate work things out?

Not too many know about Jodi's sister's blog. Perhaps they're giving Kate a taste of her own medicine...Kate claims they're going to deal with it privately which is why she's on the cover of People! Maybe Kevin and Jodi saw this as a golden opportunity to get Kate's attention so that she'll make some changes in this mess. I'm sure Kevin has confronted Kate, they're brother and sister and used to be very close. (Also, did you all know she has 3 sisters? I didn't know that.) Anyhow, I agree with what Kevin and Jodi did. Showing the public that J&K are not what they claim will cause fans to lose respect/interest and the ratings will go down. Another thing...Kevin and Jodi said they are hoping that laws/legislation will be created to protect kids in reality shows. Of note too, they hope J&K can work out their issues and Kevin flat out said he prays they don't get a divorce.

There are plenty of people right here on the Dis who don't talk to their relatives (children, siblings, etc), so based on that I don't find it unusual that Kate and her brother are not talking.. I assume something went wrong along the way somewhere.

Speaking as a person who does not speak to any of my family on a regular basis (basically a card on Christmas to my mom's house and my dad's house) it's terrible. I honestly hate it. To be brief, I don't generally speak about this even to my friends, my parents divorced when I was young. They stayed together long enough for me to witness a LOT of verbal and physical abuse both directed towards my brother and myself and my mom. Dad brought girlfriends home on the weekends and mom was supposed to be ok with that. To say it's totally changed the way I lived my life and how I react to situations is a complete understatement. Unfortunetly today there are too many people with sad stories of their own - it's too common these days! I can't imagine how Mady and Cara feel right now. I can only remember how I felt while I was growing up (in no way do I think anyone's being physically abused in this situation) and know that it wasn't fun. I grew up much too quickly which I'm guessing all of the kids are in the process of doing right now. I don't wish those feelings on anyone at all.

It's sad that it's not "unusual" for people not to talk to their family members. :guilty:

In the People article she says Jon bought the sports car without her knowledge, so he has access to the money.

Where is this article? I must have missed it. Of course I missed the whole car thing until I saw the pictures with the 23 year old leaving the bar.

I'm sorry that you had to go through that as a child. I cannot even imagine.

Here is a link to the People article.

You want this "reality" show to continue even though family members say it's all a farse, and that the crew requested to leave for moral reasons, and that Jon and Kate fought so much they had a hard time getting air worthy footage? Would they shuffle around that big ol' house and go on outings acting like they were a normal family? Would they sit on the interview couch and "talk family?"

I guess you don’t believe Jodi and Kevin? If Kevin is fabricating lies about Kate, why isn’t another family member or friend coming to her defense? She has parents and other siblings. Jon has a mom and two brothers. They also have a church family. Who would allow their sister, friend, daughter, etc. to be talked about the way she has if it were lies? Jon is in on this, mark my word. Surely he would be speaking out about Jodi and Kevin if he too was a victim of their plot of lies. I think it's everyone against Kate. The kids not knowing what is going on is bull. They may not know specifics, but Mady and Cara are 8 1/2 and kids of all ages are intuitive.

Someone just posted that they don't find it unusual for her to be estranged from her brother Kevin and his family (even though they were neighbors and seemed VERY close) but what about the fact she is estranged from her entire family? I know, I know only hear say even though NO one is defending her. And I wish someone would, this can't possibly be all true about one family.

Oh yah Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin are really great people they sold there story for money. I don't know Kate or Jon family maybe they are private people and don't want to get involved in the media spotlight. You only see what TLC wants you to see of Kate and Jon It's all about editing as in all reality shows. All I know is I enjoy the show and the kids. I wish them all the best.

Kate is a grown woman I don't think she needs any one to stick up or defend her. As a grown adult woman I don't need anyone to defend me. Do you?

:flower3: :goodvibes I completely understand how you feel, reading your words was like deja vue. Same thing happened to me (I was 10 and my sister only 6) and to say that it doesn't affect kids, is garbage. I still deal with things from that whole mess with my parents divorce and that's why my heart breaks for the Gosselin kids. They just deserve better, you know? :thumbsup2

Gee, so Jodi is on a video blasting Kate. Where have I seen this before?

Jodi and Kevin are only in this for Jodi and Kevin. They are getting paid for these interviews. They are no better than Kate.

I don't see it as bashing, I see it as setting the record straight.

How do you know they are getting paid? Link?

Yes, very close until they were about to be paid and Kate pulled the plug.

I don't know if she is estranged from her entire family, or if they are just staying out of the fray and off the camera. I have no idea if she see's any of her family or her friends. I know she has said she hadn't planned on her friends being caught up in all of this.
Maybe they think they have no reason to defend her or him. Maybe they know nothing either way. Maybe this is a big ta doo, that means higher ratings.
Other than Jodi and Kevin saying that the crew left, does anyone else know that that is fact and if their reasons were correct? How would Jodi and Kevin know this, if they haven't been involved? Why would the crew tell them, and take a chance on being fired.
Maybe all is well for the kids at home, and this is just garbage, just like many other TV families have to endure. Or maybe they are getting a divorce. Sure, it's a shame if that happens, but it doesn't mean the kids are being abused. Many people, even some posting have had children go through divorces, it doesn't mean life at home is miserable or either parent is unfit.
I don't know the answers, but I sure plan on watching the first show.

How do you know they got paid? Didn't Kate do the same thing by putting down Jon multiple times in her People magazine article?

Kate and Jon are producers in season 5, so I guess we'll see the real story now that they are in (partial) charge.

It her story to tell. I don't think People pays for interview. I know the trashy tabloids like the Star and Us today they do pay

For what it's worth, I would have cancelled Detroit & Muskegon & gone home to my kids. I think travelling is fine, but this family is at it's most tumultuous time ever & I would have been with my kids for that. She isn't, and that shows poor judgement.

this is one of the things that bothers me the most .. and makes me think that Kate may love her children, but simply doesn't want to be with them. She was home for just a few days around the sextuplet's birthday and Mother's day... and Sunday was spent doing paparazzi photo ops  Then she's back on a plane to another speaking engagement. I really don't think the world would have come to a catastrophic halt if she canceled the Michigan appearances.

with that said .. as long as she's making appearances, she's in the news.

additionally, the children really may not know that anything is going on .. with Kate out of the house, it might be calmer or less stressful. Also, if the children don't know, then Kate leaving again probably wouldn't register as anything wrong to them.

OOhh that is some dangerous waters to be treading in. Golly, if you open that up there is some very personal, ahem, bathroom moments from the show that are "floating" on reruns right now and years to come...
There is no way to predict how these kids will view all of this in the future there is no precedent for their very unique situation. We only have the many sad stories of child stars who were forced into the limelight by stage parents to compare them to. My opinion and it is mine, Jodie and her husband care about the kids and Kate isn't listening to anybody right now. I can only imagine what the meetigs with the spin doctors might be like if she is even listening to their advice?

How do you know they are not? How do you know they didn't hawk their story to the Star, a tabloid which generally pays big bucks for interviews. How do you know that Jodi isn't doing this to get back at Kate for not letting her get paid to be on the show?

Really easy to make assumptions, isn't it?

I don't, and neither does the other poster. We were both voicing our opinions which is what this thread is all about.

People pays they all do, they need to sell magazines to get the money from the advertisers. It is a bidding war for baby pictures sold by celebrities themselves to exclusive interviews. It is all about money, makes the world go round.
