Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

So we can argue about semantics and who is getting paid for what but the fact of the matter is that this family is falling apart and there are 8 children that are going to suffer because of it.
Kate and Jon can put an end to all of this by being stand up parents and being there for their children now.
Someone said that Kate can't win but she can win in her children's eyes if she goes home and starts to fix what she and Jon broke.

I'm not saying they need to stay married but they do need to be the best parents that they can be to those 8 kids.

I think Jon is using Jodi & Kevin. Maybe he played upon their love for the kids, maybe he played upon their love for the kids AND they got paid, but I think Jon is behind them coming forward, and is using them to tell his side.

I also think if Jodi & Kevin really believe that publically accusing their mother of having an affair, and essentially confirming that their father was having one was really helpful to the children, then they are seriously mistaken.

I think you are right.

I also noticed when Jodi was talking on the taped interview she says "Jon has told us that he feels that Kate has also been a cheater".

Also? So basically, they are confirming that Jon has cheated. So did Jon confide to them that he cheated or are they drawing their own conclusions.
They may have had good intentions for getting involved but I don't see that it is helpful.

Really, come on. Her next speaking engagement was the next day!

I know, but my point is that the article says that Kate said it was her last stop, but it does not have a direct quote saying that. The only words quoted are "for a while". We have no idea what words came before or after the "for a while". Why not print the whole quote?

On a separate note, I would think of Michigan as a stop, not the exact hall where she spoke. To me, travelling to the next hotel would be the next "stop".

I'm not defending her- although it seems like it. I'm just pulling apart the semantics.

When I watched the video of Kate and Jodie I took away from it that they want Kate and Jon to work things out and for Kate to listen to someone to step back and look at what the situation is and how now it might not be too late to change the future. Tough love is sometimes what it takes and if that means going to Star the only magazine that would listen then that is what they had to do.

I couldn't agree less. Kevin and Jodi could have simply put a statement on the sister's blog -- isn't that where they've posted things in the past? Or how about a private letter to Kate? Why is it important for the public to know "their side?" I think they could have communicated their message without going to the tabloids. And the things they said -- Kate is money-hungry, Kate drew up a contract allowing Jon to have girlfriends, etc., etc. How is putting that out to the public going to help Jon & Kate work things out?

Okay, I just read the People article. Wow! So much for doing things in "private". She really threw Jon under the bus. I really wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she really has blinders on.

She says since the twins go to a private school that doesn't "gossip" that they are fine, have no clue what is going on....Um okay. I worked in a private school (as a teacher) and let me tell you those parents gossip just as much as any other parent at a school.

Plus, their classmates know how to read. I'm sure they go to Target, Walmart, Grocery Store. Those magazines (including the one she did the interview with stating that she doesn't know if they can work it out) are all over the check-out lanes. Plus, what if they subscribe to People magazine?!

I think this article was supposed to be a "poor me" type of thing, but it really made me lose a lot of respect for her as a parent. I know I am harsh with some of my comments, but really, this woman has lost all sense of reality. Her only reality is money, money, and money.

Oh, and she says she will continue the show with or without Jon.

I never doubted for a minute that she would continue with the show, with or without Jon.

Putting everything aside I hate to see another marriage end. I really hope there is something they can do but I'm starting to lose faith will everything I've seen so far. :sad2:

Just finished giving TLC my opinion and request that they get rid of the show.:surfweb:

With the ratings this show is going to get, that will never happen. Networks are in the biz to make money and this show will make them money.

She was in Muskegon, which is about 3 -3 1/2 hours from where she is today. I would consider that another "stop". She lied. Plain and simple.

They may have had good intentions for getting involved but I don't see that it is helpful.

But would it be cheating if they had a contract saying it was ok??? Wow to even type that feels weird!

I am not sure if I believe the Jodi story. I dont know why but it just seems weird being in Star and such. I guess I have just considered their stories to be false no matter what. However Jon said he did not cheat on Kate. He could have been referring to no I didn't cheat because I had permission.

I agree. I used to watch Trading Spaces and when they got ride of Paige Davis it became really boring. So I stopped watching it as did a lot of people. It was only when the ratings were VERY low did it get canceled.

This is going to be a cash cow for TLC and they are going to be very careful with what they show on the air.

If I were TLC management I would be very upset with the People article because there is really no good way to spin the J & K relationship after that article. It is in Kate's own words, so she can't say it is an "untruth".

So we can all make "assumptions" about Jodi and her husband - since we have no concrete evidence that they were in fact paid for that interview - but we shouldn't make "assumptions" about what Kate & Jon may or may not be doing with the money that they earn from the show?? Seems contradictory to me.. :confused3

Yeah, I'm sure that it is just an assumption that they got paid by the Star. Yeah, I'm sure they waited 6 months, because they cared so much for the kids, that they finally broke the story in a rag, and didn't get paid. 6 months they say they have known about Kate's affair and since Jon talked to them, and longer that they have known the kids have suffered at home (but they did nothing about it). But they waited all this time to tell their story. I'm sure they didn't want any money to tell this story. Yeah. Wonder why they didn't pick a more legitimate magazine. Oh, because the Star usually pays very well for dirt.

There are plenty of people right here on the Dis who don't talk to their relatives (children, siblings, etc), so based on that I don't find it unusual that Kate and her brother are not talking.. I assume something went wrong along the way somewhere. Perhaps there is some sour grapes here..Kate and Jon are making money and they aren't. Now they decide to come forward, because they want to help the kids. Yeah, and they did the interview for free, rather than reporting them to social services. Nope, I don't believe it, that it was for no payment.

And I stand by what I say, that we have no idea if the children have bank accounts or not. I'm not assuming they do, just saying we don't know if that they don't. Do you know for sure that Kate is holding onto all the money? If so, you must know something I don't.

Don't see where one has anything to do with the other.

Guess what, I had never heard of the sister's blog and I am sure many other people out there did not know about it either. Like I said tough love, it is not about Kate or Jon there are 8 little people out there who need to have a voice. And if it takes Jodie and Kevin to speak out to Star Magazine to get it out to the main stream media I say go for it. If that is what it takes to have laws created to protect minors in this new media forum of reality tv, more power to them.

For what it's worth, I would have cancelled Detroit & Muskegon & gone home to my kids. I think travelling is fine, but this family is at it's most tumultuous time ever & I would have been with my kids for that. She isn't, and that shows poor judgement.

I do think that she probably said "this is my last stop", not Muskegon is my last stop. I think the writer of the article probably thought Muskegon is a stop. I think Kate probably thought Michigan is a stop.

IMHO, she is not cancelling the trips because she needs to be there for her kids. She would have cancelled Michigan entirely if that were the case. She is cancelling because public opinion is that she should cancel & go be with the kids. With that in mind, I don't think she would tell such a blatant lie & get caught.

In the People article she says Jon bought the sports car without her knowledge, so he has access to the money.

Maybe he thought "hey ill buy this sports car to show her since she yelled at me in front of cameras for not using a coupon". :lmao:

If he did buy it without her knowledge that's a wrong in my book. Any major purchase should be discussed with each other, IMO. It's not like he bought a new pair of shoes. I dont care how much money they have. That's a big purchase. Again, just my opinion.

You underestimate her. ;)

Kate loves the spotlight. If you read the People article she says she loves being in front of the camera. She said it is like "AH" whatever that means.

there are 8 little people out there who need to have a voice.

Do you really think these eight little people are going to someday read the statements made by Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin about their own mother -- which will still be floating around on the internet -- and APPRECIATE them?

I think they're going to be embarrassed, mortified, angry, betrayed.

This is a family behaving badly. Jon, Kate, Jodi, Kevin. All of them. I don't see any of them acting nobly at this point. What a mess.

Well said! ITA

Why ?? If you don't like the show turn it off simple as that. Why try to ruin if for those of us who enjoy the show

You want this "reality" show to continue even though family members say it's all a farse, and that the crew requested to leave for moral reasons, and that Jon and Kate fought so much they had a hard time getting air worthy footage? Would they shuffle around that big ol' house and go on outings acting like they were a normal family? Would they sit on the interview couch and "talk family?"

I guess you don’t believe Jodi and Kevin? If Kevin is fabricating lies about Kate, why isn’t another family member or friend coming to her defense? She has parents and other siblings. Jon has a mom and two brothers. They also have a church family. Who would allow their sister, friend, daughter, etc. to be talked about the way she has if it were lies? Jon is in on this, mark my word. Surely he would be speaking out about Jodi and Kevin if he too was a victim of their plot of lies. I think it's everyone against Kate. The kids not knowing what is going on is bull. They may not know specifics, but Mady and Cara are 8 1/2 and kids of all ages are intuitive.

Someone just posted that they don't find it unusual for her to be estranged from her brother Kevin and his family (even though they were neighbors and seemed VERY close) but what about the fact she is estranged from her entire family? I know, I know only hear say even though NO one is defending her. And I wish someone would, this can't possibly be all true about one family.

A little off topic, but the moment when I knew Kate was no longer someone I could identify with was a few years ago when she said something to the effect of

Jodi can't help us out on a regular basis, so she watches the sextuplets on Fridays.

I'm a SAHM, and having someone take 1 kid, let alone 6 every Friday would be a blessing from heaven. Kate made it sound like a ****y prize.

Oops- I guess you can't say that. Kate made it sound like a bad second place prize. I guess she & I have different definitions of a regular basis.
