Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

You put it well. It's so sad. Will anyone tell Kate (and Jon) this is REAL LIFE? Their children deserve a better childhood than a reality show that they can't possibly consent to. It's time to shut down the cash cow, get some major family counseling, and PUT THE KIDS FIRST.
----------------------------
I suppose it wouldn't do any good to email them - because Kate and Jon have both said (on several occasions) on the show that when they get an email that even "hints" at them doing anything wrong - or suggests that they handle something differently - "they immediately delete it".. :(

Did I miss that there was a video of Jodi and Kevin?? If so can some repost it????Thanks,,,!!!!!!

One thing that made me say "***" and changed my attitude toward both Jon & Kate was an episode where driving came up and the kids turning 16. Kate said something along the lines of "If they want a car they will have to get a job and pay for it." HUH? They have been working since birth!

I knew then that Kate considered that "her" money and the kids aren't going to see a dime.

If the money has been handled responsibly up to this point, money should not be an issue..
hmmmm, I am not sure it has. These children are performers and are working.

Unfortunately though, this is a reality show and the same rules do not apply. These kids should have a portion of the money being paid to the family in an individual account for each kid. The are strict laws and rule governing the payment of monies to young performers. Right now everything is in mom and dad's name, because it is a reality series. And I don't think mom and dad are thinking too clearly right now. These kids aren't being given any consideration.

This is going the route of the The Loud Family, the 1970's reality family. All have come out and said THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER EVER done the reality series had they known the awful effects it would have on the family. '

I would love to see two things happen. First TLC should be flooded with calls and emails demanding this series be pulled. It is an insult to the public. Secondly, there should be a call for lawmakers to include young performers in reality series to be treated and guarded by the same laws that govern all young performers.

I 100% agree with you that this should be addressed in a legal forum. It is so sad though to think for me at least how in the heck did this become a legal problem. It is a show where the parents are right there. You would think, would is the word I stress, the parents would above anyone else have the childrens best interest in mind. Obviously they did not. I was thinking today Kate is running her own sweat shop. Her kids sadly are not even protected under the law from their own mother's greed. There is no mandatory percentage of money being put in trust for the children. No independent party mandated to oversee the best choices for the childrens share of the profit to guarantee them funds for college, therapy whatever they choose to do with it.

Wow, today has been a busy day.

I think the whole bunch is just messed up. J&K, the aunt, the uncle the sister of whoever, the boyfriends, girlfriends, in-laws and outlaws.Help is needed and QUICK!!

I also think Kate has great legs.

Kate's hair is mild as far as crazy haircuts go. I think she wanted some sort of Posh spice look and since they couldn't duplicate it, they decided to cut layers into the crown to make it different. Then, Kate went home and slept on it and the next morning it was all spikey and sticking up like the crazy bird 'do that someone mentioned and Kate liked the look and is now having it cut like this.
I'm sure people are telling her it looks good. In fact, I've had requests for it. (*falling down smilie here*) The interesting thing to me is that it doesn't even look like a good haircut to me (sometimes it looks better than other times) plus the style itself is wacky (whacked, LOL) and yet some people out there love it. It just goes to show you that you can make anything popular by having the right person wear it (wear clothes, shoes hair, whatever!)

If Kate had remained looking like she did after the birth of the twins, I would be the first saying WTHeck? People change, they change their look, their style etc. Hopefully Kate will change this look sooner than later and it will evolve into something classier and softer. Michelle Dugger kept those 80's bangs well into 2008, I think. Your look has got to evolve a bit or you look frumpy, matronly, dated, etc. Kate is extreme but I'd rather see someone evolve a bit than look the same for 10 years.

And finally, my last thought is that Dr. Phil should offer marriage counseling to them. He jumped right in there offering to help with the Octomom, where is he now??!! J & K need help. Since everything else is done on the screen, Dr. Phil should reap the benefits of this mess and have them on during Sweeps.

Has she also said that she was not putting any money in the kids bank accounts? I never announced it when my kids were young, but they did each have an account, and we did put money in them. Maybe that is a good idea for a future show. A trip to the bank and money put in each child's account.

Maybe she does have the children's best interest in mind, and they have healthy bank accounts. Perhaps she plans on managing that money for college and adulthood, not for car buying at 16. Maybe she isn't being greedy with the money, how would we know? We could have afforded to give our children cars, but we didn't, they had to earn the money for the cars and the insurance. That isn't what the bank accounts were for. We did give our son one when he graduated from college.

Just playing Devil's Advocate, since I have no idea if the kids have bank accounts or how Kate and Jon is spending all the money from the show. She has mentioned it's tough paying both mortgages. Maybe that is because she puts money away in the kids accounts and doesn't have access to all of her earnings.

Seems like her employer TLC will not be helping to pay that, excuse me, those mortgages much longer. In this economy and all geez, hope she has a plan B.

Yeah - talk show host. Unfortunately for her that most likely will not pan out since she cannot even speak a sentence without ummm being in there a few times.

we must be looking at different pictures. 9 inch heels? I see her in heeled sandals and a denim skirt, with a nice blourse and a jacket covering her top, just like many other people dress her age. The hair is the same cut she's had for a long time..back when we used to like her. She doens't look motherly? Lol..what does motherly look like? That's too funny. Tlaking trash about her sounds just like the rag mags. Especially when there is nothign wrong with what she has on. Go into any office and that is what 30 somethings look like.

Yep, just like i thought. Jon cheats and she's the bad 'guy'.

We also have no idea how much time she spent with her kids. It would make a very poor story, even if the kids were right next to her, to have them in the picture. We don't know if they were in school, home napping..no idea, but she's a bad person because they aren't with her on her many trips running around (which in reality might be one trip to town, to pick up something and back home). Yep, all of us here on the diz spend every waking moment with our children. None of us travel for work (of course none of write books either and out pushing the book is usually part of the contract), none of us do anything that we might think will help our children's future (right or wrong, in our minds..i'm sure right in hers).

We all absolutely know these kids are going to grow up and be awful teenagers, because their parents taught them that everything they want is there for the taking. Yep, we all know that. That's because we have seen so many shows in the past just like this, where every child turned out to be a druggie. Yep, we know that. None of the other reality family's are doing placement..yeah, right. No spaghetti sauce for the other people, no free special stroller, no help from the friends and neighbors. Nope, the other kids will all turn out ok.

Pictures of her with her bodyguard. How strange is that. I guess we aren't supposed to be able to see her body guard. Or better she should go out by herself and be driven into a wall, as she tries to outrun all these trash magazines.

And jon..yes, he wanted to quit..we could tell that by the 6 words he spoke. He didn't want anymore of the money or the beautiful house. I see that he went right out and tried to get himself hired again..good luck with that after he lied about why he was fired from the last job. Or, perhaps it was publicity to get us all taking. How the heck do we know?

How do we know any of this. Like i said, i wonder if they would have made it even if they didn't have this show.

Let all of us without any problems in our lives or the lives of our children, step up and throw the first stones out (and you have to have gone through all the teen years with at least one girl and one boy, before you can throw that stone).

I assume her mouth is open in the pictures because the rag mags are throwing questions out to her..and she is saying..no comment, or we are doing the best we can.

One suitcase? Is that supposed to mean something now, too? Maybe she checked hers. Boy, i can't believe some of you. Why not rip her to shreads.

ita!!

At the end of the day, Jodi DID sell the family out for money.

It makes me view their rift differently, and a little more favorably towards Kate than I did last year.

Good Morning. I haven't tried to catch up yet but for anyone who listens to Bob and Sheri (www.bobandsheri.com) they're talking about J&K+8 this morning! You can listen to the show on the computer if you'd like. It's interesting to hear other people's thoughts as both Sheri and one of their producers watch the show.

Alright....now to try and catch up before I actually have to start working in 8 minutes this morning! :headache:

ETA: They're playing the tape of Kevin and Jodi right now....how terrible!:sad2:

I am a 33 yr old mom. I think she looks great now. I love her hair. Infact, my hair is similar to hers. I like her outfit that she wore in the airport pictures (although I would have picked a different colored shirt). She has great legs. She is a 33-34 yr. old mom for pete's sake! Kate is not in her 90`s! She is a beautiful, confident woman. If you YOU don`t want to dress like that, fine, don`t. That is Kate`s choice of clothes, I have mine, you have yours. Does what she wears make her a good or bad mom,or is it how she loves, teaches and cares for her children.
She is a mother, but she is also a woman. You don`t stop being a woman when you become a mother and be only a mother. I like the fact that she does her hair and dresses ``funky``. To me it means that she still cares about herself while caring for her family. It doesn`t mean she is self-absorbed or that it is ``àll about Kate``. You can do both-look good and take care of your family.

I think she looks great!
BTW,I've only posted here twice and I'm not a troll.

who hasn't sold them out for money?

I can think of a few .. but not many. Ironically, Jon is one of them. That's not to say he's not responsible for what's happening, because he does shoulder partial responsibility to this mess. But I don't see him giving interviews, having his picture on the cover of People magazine, etc.

That may change today .. who knows? :rotfl:

what I took from the EW interview: 1.I've never heard of EW, guess Kate and Jon will give anyone a interview. 2. Kate said it takes her a long timeto do her hair. Umm, 8 kids, a big house and SHE has a long time to do her hair? How many of us moms hardly have time to get a shower and brush our teeth?:worship:

Lets face it for TLC to pull the plug on the show we would all have to stop watching it and well it's a train wreck and we CAN'T

The problem I have with Kate is she professes to be a christian in her book (no I didn't buy it I pick it up in the bookstore and flip through it. Every other page was "because I am a christian" "being a christian...") I'm sorry but if you were truly a Christian would you belittle your husband every chance you get???

you've never heard of Entertainment Weekly? I always thought it was a pretty well known magazine...

I am starting to get really confused.
She is on the Today show, saying she is dealing with it privately,
and then an interview comes out from People.
She must be changing her mind daily. I don't understand how a magazine like People can get information printed so fast.
If Kate wants to continue in television, she should, but she should cancel her show with her family. Then she would find out, nobody really cares anymore and her 15 minutes of fame would be over.

Well, if that hair takes her a long time to do, then something is wrong and she needs a lesson. That is one of the quickest, easiest hairstyle to do--I do not care what kind of hair you have. Short in the back and long in the front type style that you see everywhere these days. The reason you do is because it IS SO easy and people can actually *do* their hair. It is one of the few styles that people can replicate at the home very well--almost always. That's the part of the popularity of it.

Now maybe the spikey things change it a bit. maybe it takes works to get to stand up just so and evenly so as not to be lopsided--esp. when looking at her straight on like the "after" pic of Kate that was posted.
She could grow those tail feathers out a bit and look like she had a headdress on!

I think when Kate was talking on the Today Show that she meant we would not be seeing them deal with this on the show. If it has been going on for 6 or 8 months and hasn't been talked about on there or shown, why now? is probably what she is thinking. Before all this came to light, she was just extremely rude to Jon on the couch (meaner than normal, IMO)--that was a hint to us, the audience. Looking back, I think most folks could see things seemed different this season. So, she, IMO, was saying off camera meaning privately.
We need to see them on a doctor's couch hashing things out. (Not really, but they should go, asap, without us.)

Do you have a name for your hairstyle?
KATE: It's my attitude! Everybody wants it. It's work. I have very, very thick hair, so it's not going to work for everybody. I've seen people come through the book line with thin hair and it's just won't work. My hair stylist gets calls from all across the country.

Boy, she is really full of herself! EVERYONE wants her hair-do? Her hairstylist gets calls from all across the country? Yeah I want to fly across the country to get all my hair chopped off and put a rooster-do on top!:rotfl:

I agree.
