Everyone keeps saying that Jodi and Kevin sold them out for money, but where is it said they got any money at all for anything. TLC came to them and offered to pay them for the use of their home. They never went to TLC and asked for money. Kate was the one that pulled the plug when she said nobody makes money off her kids but her. TLC pays everyone when they use their homes and businesses, why shouldn't Jodi and Kevin have been paid?

As for the Star interview, where did it say they were paid for that one? I assumed they went with Star because they came to them and asked for a statement. Nowhere does it say they were paid. I think Jodi and Kevin both kept quiet for so long hoping things would change, and only spoke out when it was getting out of control. If they wanted anything, I think they would have come out when the book first came out and published their own book.

I'm wondering if the Aunt Jodi and Kevin interview was done with the blessings of Jon. I got the impression that they kind of felt sorry for him/ are still on speaking terms. It seemed like they were more antagonistic towards Kate.

I do think they should have been paid. I think Kate already knew on some (ahemm...personal) level that the money can overshadow the kids quickly in terms of motivation. I also think that then her babysitter would have been under the contract & control of TLC, and Kate is a control freak. But yeah, I can see why Jodi would say- I've been babysitting for free & taping for free for years. If someone else wants to pay me I'd sure like that.

I think Kate AND Jon let their own desires come before what would be best for the kids.

I think Kevin & Jodi just did the same thing. Whether they did it for money, or vindictiveness or attention, their statements can only hurt the children.

I totally agree with that! I think you could see how upset they were about the whole thing. I think they really care/LOVE those kids and do not want to see anything hurt them so they spoke out.

People Magazine is known for paying TOP money for things to be in their magazine. Look at how much they pay for celebs baby pictures. Example Brad and Angelina's Kids. Other stars who do not sell out go to other lower key mags because they do not want the money for their kids pics they just want to get it out there so people can see and not bombard them. I don't know just a thought!

She looks to me like she's entirely enjoying the attention, after she said she wanted to handle things "privately". And she's dressing for the attention, which in MHO, makes me think she's self absorbed.

Assuming Jon is having an affair, what could he possibly say in an interview? He'd end up getting trapped in his own lies.

Assuming there is a contract that he can have a girlfriend ( and I'm not sure I buy this one), wouldn't there also be a confidentiality clause?

I think Star paid Jodi & Kevin. I have a feeling Jon paid them, too.

She must be changing her mind daily. I don't understand how a magazine like People can get information printed so fast.
If Kate wants to continue in television, she should, but she should cancel her show with her family. Then she would find out, nobody really cares anymore and her 15 minutes of fame would be over.

I think she meant they are not going to put it on their show. I think they are willing, however, to sell it to the highest bidder. People have a ton of those exclusively on people stuff which I am sure they pay heavily for. That's how they beat out other publications because they are willing to pay high for things so their magazine will sell. I am sure whatever they pay they make up for with their sales. I know I am guilty. I bought the magazine when Brad and Angelina showed their kids off. I couldn't help myself.

Yes I think she is enjoying the attention as well. TMZ had a video of her and she was like waiving to them and everything when she was leaving from something I do not remember. It was like a day before the Today interview and she was laughing and waiving at the camera and all that. I don't know but she did say she would handle it privately and now she is talking to people so I think she likes being in the public eye no matter how she gets there. JMO!

Has she also said that she was not putting any money in the kids bank accounts? I never announced it when my kids were young, but they did each have an account, and we did put money in them. Maybe that is a good idea for a future show. A trip to the bank and money put in each child's account.

Maybe she does have the children's best interest in mind, and they have healthy bank accounts. Perhaps she plans on managing that money for college and adulthood, not for car buying at 16. Maybe she isn't being greedy with the money, how would we know? We could have afforded to give our children cars, but we didn't, they had to earn the money for the cars and the insurance. That isn't what the bank accounts were for. We did give our son one when he graduated from college.

Just playing Devil's Advocate, since I have no idea if the kids have bank accounts or how Kate and Jon is spending all the money from the show. She has mentioned it's tough paying both mortgages. Maybe that is because she puts money away in the kids accounts and doesn't have access to all of her earnings.

At the end of the day, Jodi DID sell the family out for money.

It makes me view their rift differently, and a little more favorably towards Kate than I did last year.

Well that is an assumption as well, we do not know if she was paid. And if she was what or where has the money been place maybe for the children.

what I took from the EW interview: 1.I've never heard of EW, guess Kate and Jon will give anyone a interview. 2. Kate said it takes her a long timeto do her hair. Umm, 8 kids, a big house and SHE has a long time to do her hair? How many of us moms hardly have time to get a shower and brush our teeth?

Well, I think there is a difference opening up a bank account for a child who gets maybe $100 from grandma than this situation. These are now professional children and the law need to step in and guarantee their monies are being invested and secured for their future also there needs to be a professional accountant who oversees the daily income. This is not chump change.

Exactly.
Those 8 children are the current breadwinners. Their earnings need to be protected. It's the least than can be done for kids who's childhood is blatantly exposed on nationwide TV in some of the most unthinkable ways imaginable. (I'll never get over some of the insensitive toileting issues. UGH.) The children won't ever get their privacy back. But at the very least some ethical third party should supervise the expenditures with an eye toward the future for the good of all. Right now it appears much is based on what Mom and Dad want, period.

My response is:
Very true what you said my neighbor is an evangelical christian woman and has told me time and time again a woman is to be loved and a man (husband) respected. Now I do not agree with this in the least so our converstions get heated. She has shown me the scripture where it is written. I told her I still do not agree at all.

I agree, I was thinking the same thing. "I will deal with this privately and by privately I mean any magazine, tv show that will listen. Jon is not dealing well with the media, so I will go to probably one of the most read tabloids, people, and tell them it might be over I am not happy with Jon" . I know her and TLC have a lot to lose in this me$$. I am wondering what PR firm they are using and how much Kate is takeing of their advice. Is she a loaded gun w/o a safety on. It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall of the PR team.

I think when Kate was talking on the Today Show that she meant we would not be seeing them deal with this on the show. If it has been going on for 6 or 8 months and hasn't been talked about on there or shown, why now? is probably what she is thinking. Before all this came to light, she was just extremely rude to Jon on the couch (meaner than normal, IMO)--that was a hint to us, the audience. Looking back, I think most folks could see things seemed different this season. So, she, IMO, was saying off camera meaning privately.
We need to see them on a doctor's couch hashing things out. (Not really, but they should go, asap, without us.)

Completely agree...this past season it was very obvious something wasn't right. Their body language was very telling and I'm sure psychologists have viewed it and remarked upon it.

Totally agree! Star didn't say Kevin & Jodi were paid. And they did keep quiet, Jon came to them 6 months ago! That is a long time to sit back and do nothing. I'm sure that they debated about what to do with that information and when everything started crumbling down around J&K, that was an ideal time. By doing that interview, people are going to see the show as a sham, J&K as a sham and hopefully that will be the end of the show, at least for the kids. I truly believe they're thinking of the kids and how best to help them. Let's remember too, this is Kate's brother! I'm sure he wants to help her on some level and by doing this, thinks perhaps she'll come around. His last statement was heartfelt where he urged them not to trade fame and fortune for their marriage and family. I think Kevin and Jodi did a great service for the Gosselin kids and the fans of the show who think everything is peachy. The show's entire premise is that they're a family, an image Kate is trying desperately to protect for her own selfish reasons.

Yup, I thought the same. They did seem sympathetic towards Jon which is very telling since Kevin is Kate's brother. I wonder if it's because they've seen firsthand how Kate treats Jon and perhaps it's must worse off camera then we realize. Who knows.

I believe they love those kids too. Heck, they're the only ones not being paid to. Yes, People magazine pays truckloads of money for their interviews/photos! It's crazy what they pay. Now we have a whole cover devoted to Kate. Of course Kevin and Jodi couldn't go to People when Kate has already been talking to them. I really think the reason they went to Star is that they know people will see it everywhere. That's better exposure to get the story out than a blog.

I tend to agree. Kate is very bold and brash, we've all seen it and read it in her own words. She will not be held back because she "chooses happiness". That's got to be one of the most ridiculous things I've heard her say in light of the scandal.

As I said, I don't know that they haven't put a good chunk into the kids accounts. Perhaps this will change some laws for all of the kids on these shows to be sure they get paid, since it appears right now, they are not considered professional children by PA's laws. But for now, we don't know if the parents have been saving for them or not. I wouldn't go so far as to presume the children are not being taken well care of, and I assume the money is being used for their needs. I haven't seen anything to make me think otherwise. I guess we'll have to wait for the kids books to come out in print.

Now I do not agree with this in the least so our converstions get heated. She has shown me the scripture where it is written. I told her I still do not agree at all.

I do feel that a woman should be loved and respected and a man should also be loved and respected, that's what makes a marriage work, regardless of your religion or lack thereof. But I think it has to be mutual. It is hard to love and respect someone who does not show you the same. If someone is constantly belittling you for breathing or calling you names and smacking you every time you say something, that is not respect.
