Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

As nearly 60 percent of voters in a TVGuide.com poll said they want to see Jon and Kate Gosselin address a photo scandal on their show, Jon & Kate Plus 8 , the woman at the center of it all called the infidelity rumors "absurd."

Did Kate give a statement? When did she say that?

I highly doubt it will be addressed on the show. It is a family show about a married couple. They don't want to bring that up I'm sure.

Supposedly it will be on tomorrow morning...we'll see. It's on the schedule. If they are on, I hope they don't bring the kids because who knows what idiots in the audience might blurt out, you know?

I was listening to a radio show this morning,
and they listed off other couples that did some form of a Reality show and are now divorced.

1. Nick Latchey-Jessica Simpson
2. Hulk Hogan-I can't think of her name.
3. Carmen Electra-Can't think of his name.
4. Barker's, from Meet the Barkers
I'm sure there are others, but those are the I remember the radio talking about.

I read an interview with Nick Lachey (however you spell it) that having a reality show just brought front and center all their problems because that is what got ratings. They didn't ever get to settle anything because it was always being replayed. Also interesting with them was Jessica's career was taking off and Nick's was stalled. He said the show made that very clear and it was very hard for him to feel like the "bread winner" when she was always working and he wasn't.

You know...I didn't even think of that....I live in Texas and it hasn't really been warm enough here for sunbathing yet!!

I live in Central NY and it was HOT HOT HOT. I had my kids out in their bathing suits and playing in the water. We also had to have the central air on during the night because it was humid. So, I think that this would be the same in PA.

it was in Us Weekly, right? I know it's an entertainment publication, but I'm not sure I'd call it a tabloid. I lump it in with People.

But, do you think the magazine took this risk, thinking Jon and Kate would not have enough money to sue them if it wasn't true? Many celebrities have gone after tabloids and won. Most gave the money to charity. The brothers roommate probably leaked the news, and the tabloid probably twisted the interview to make it look like the brother told everything. I kept wondering why U.S. kept mentioning brothers roommate and that got me thinking, it was probably the roommate and her brother just nodded his head. People will do anything for money, especially if they are out of work.

I don't know .. the tabloids seem to be breaking the big stories. I don't know how that's happened, but look at the John Edwards thing. The National Enquirer ran with it long before the mainstream media. They seem to be gutsy enough to take the chance and go with these stories. I don't know what the percentage of correct vs. lawsuit stories is, I'd bet they have a fairly high number of correct stories, though. Or just correct enough to avoid a lawsuit.

This whole thing with the brother and the room mate is odd. With siblings like him and Aunt Jodi's sister .. who needs enemies?

I also have a comment about Kate keeping her speaking engagements.
They just bought that house. I'm sure Kate has it figured out, how many speaking engagements she needs to do, to pay bills. There is no way, the home they are in, is paid for, plus they still have their other home. If the kids are in a private Christian school, the tuition bill next Fall is going to be very large also.

My guess is the book tour is part of the contract with Zondervan. Not sure about the others, you may be right.

Mady & Cara attended the school on scholarship. Not sure if they still do.

Do we know JK8 bought the house? It was purchased by a trust .. was it for them for for Figure 8? Has their other house sold?

I just saw an ad on CNN for Larry King. It says Elizabeth Hasselbeck is the guest. Has there been a change?

Sunday, April 26 on my calender

April 27 was my birthday. It was last Monday.

I need to pull up the speaking engagement list -- I read on one of the blogs that it was spring break when Kate went to California, and that the kids went with her. No idea if it's substantiated or not, but someone pointed out that she wasn't without the kids all that time because they went to CA with her.

I checked out Larry King Live's schedule and it's all ladies from The View this week? When was Kate supposed to be on??

I agree about alot of the tabloids too. It seems over the last few years that they're the ones with the breaking stories that turn out to be true. This whole scandal is extremely hard to swallow if it's just innocent as Jon and this Deanna girl say. Fishy.

I'll be setting my DVR for the Today show. I hope that if the kids are present, not a whiff of this scandal is mentioned. However, if they're not with J & K, I hope it is addressed. Talk about an elephant in the room.

In the early morning hours of April 18, a paparazzo photographed Jon leaving a Pennsylvania bar with a woman who has since identified herself as Deanna Hummel, 23 (Kate was out of town promoting her latest book, Eight Little Faces). Since then, Hummel and friends of Jon have come to his defense, including a bouncer at the bar who said "there was no romantic anything" between Jon and the woman.

EW: What did you think of the story and photo?
Jon: It's really upsetting. I may be guilty of choosing the wrong time and place to hang out with my friends, but I am not guilty of cheating on my wife. It hurts me to see what it's done to my family, and it's scary to know that these tabloids are in town constantly following us and even paying locals large amounts of money to contribute to these negative stories. It's even gotten so bad that [one tabloid] has reached out to a youth pastor from our church, which in my eyes is completely unacceptable.
Kate: It's disturbing and unfortunate that these tabloids have gone as far as they have to try and bring us down. Jon's poor judgment and irresponsible behavior has also without a doubt caused some added tension and stress between the two of us.

EW: Does the tabloid story make you want to spend even less time in public? Do you feel like you have to decline future requests for fan photos for fear they may end up in the wrong hands?
Jon: Our fans and the majority of viewers have been overwhelmingly supportive, but when tabloids take photos and turn them into something they are not, yes it definitely makes us hesitant to take photos with fans and go about our daily lives. We still want to live normal lives. We want our kids to have opportunities that we didn't have growing up, which is why we participated in the show in the first place. But of course it makes us think twice about how we spend our time in public.

EW: Will you address how the tabloid coverage has affected your life in the upcoming season on Jon and Kate, which begins May 25?
Kate: I think we will address the bigger picture, regarding the very public focus on our family and the stress it's caused in our relationship, but not necessarily any specific tabloid.

EW: That said, the latest tabloid coverage should only boost ratings for the fifth season of your show. Is this comforting, or troubling?
Kate: We are not concerned about the ratings right now. Our main focus is on our family and working through this.

Says his DS is not a homewrecker but she IS, allegedly, having an affair with a married man and that it's gross that this is a man who is twice her age! Umm, he's only 31 or 32, dude needs to learn to add better!

Support though, I'm sure TLC is giving them support, but TLC must be giving them only the positive e-mails and letters.

At this point I don't know what to believe. Even though Jon and Kate are on T.V. they are still people. People do crazy things. If Jon is feeling like less of a man because of Kate's constant emasculation then he might be searching for someone to make him feel manly again. Kate seems like an ice cube so I don't know....I think her main focus is fame and his main focus is trying to find a way out.

I so love this quote by Kate. Talk about calling him out without actually doing it. She all but says "Listen oops - didn't filter so I will remove it, knock it off and stop being so selfish."
