Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

I was doing laundry and thought the same thing about teaching the viewers something. One of the reasons (in the beginning) that Jon & Kate were so popular was because they were doing things others could relate to. I would assume that solar panels are costly, and something a regular JK8 viewer probably wouldn't install on their home. Why not pick simple projects kids and parents could do together?

This was just promo fluff for TLC, though. A "new" JK8 episide (filmed before they destroyed the interview set) tied to the new Renovation Nation show. And not much more.

And I wonder if the workers appreciated being called ridiculous.

Maybe she kept harping on the cost effectiveness for the audience benefit. Yes, they're costly (to the average Joe), but let's talk about (several times) how it evens out in the end.

I thought the guy was irritating, but I did see where he said something to the effect that he knew Kate was being sarcastic, and a couple times he gave it right back to her or said stuff behind her back (and no one's ragging on him).

have I mentioned how much it bothers me that those kids were without helmets?

I know that people feel like Jon & Kate are picked on unfairly sometimes, and there's a certain amount of truth to that. But not this time. The no helmet thing is big ... it goes way above and beyond petty comments about stripey hair and orange tans.

would you be less of a mess if the pool was installed for free and filmed on TV? ;) I might be... although, I couldn't say for sure. The thought of being filmed bothers me much more than having work people here. LOL.

Ok, now I was just thinking the same thing! :teleport: :rotfl:

I was going to post that I don't like projects or workmen in the house either. But if I was being filmed for the whole "world" to see, I might put on my happy face and not be so rude.

The thing that bothered me was when Kate said the world is going to end anyway, so it didn't really matter that they were "going green". I think she's being pushed into doing this and don't think she'd do it on her own.

I heard that, too. What a thing for her to say! TLC must have loved that one.

ETA: If my tv program is right, the "going green" special is being repeated tonight.

she only mentioned the cost effectiveness a couple of times. the bigger benefit, IMO, is all the tax stuff they mentioned.

and this is a totally stupid question, maybe ... does the sun shine enough in Pennslyvania (or any other part of the northeast) in the winter to make solar panels worth it? I didn't listen to the lesson about turning the sun into energy, LOL.

they're not ragging on him about that .. but people have noticed how "familiar" he was. and I did point out there was witty banter ;)

TLC put it out there, though, so they must have approved. Of course, here we are talking about it, so mission accomplished.

That must have been what I tuned in on because that's all I heard that guy talk about!

Honestly I would probably be just as bothered...yes I would be happy that it was free, but still my inner annoyance at people being there would come out I'm sure. Especially if I was Kate and used to being filmed. My DH walked in the room while I was watching it and I said, "that's how I would act too huh" and he just smiled and said, "yep."

ITA. I can't stand any projects or ppl. working in/at my home, and yes I will say I get pretty crabby:rotfl:

Okay, so yes I think Kate was pretty grouchy on this episode, but did anyone else think that Steve guy was overly nice/affecionate/talkative with them? I know it's going to sound mean, but I think I would have been pretty annoyed by him after 30 minutes, let alone 3 days. I thought it was really weird that he kissed the kids (and Kate) bye:confused3:confused3 I mean, I guess it's nice that he's so "friendly," but it just seemed odd.

I haven't seen him hug or kiss the kids yet, (have only watched part of it so far) but he is too dang happy and excited about it for me and would drive me bonkers.

I thought the guy was irritating, but I did see where he said something to the effect that he knew Kate was being sarcastic, and a couple times he gave it right back to her or said stuff behind her back (and no one's ragging on him).

That man drove me crazy....and I would have stayed in the house too! :rolleyes1

Did you all watch the J&K show today where they re-played their very first show "Surviving Twins & Sextuplets"? You can really see where she has changed so much from that first show. The money, free things, travels, and everything else just seemed to ruin her. On their first show, Jon was actually "allowed" to speak for a while. She was rubbing his leg, and being really loving and cheery.

What season did Jon and Kate go to Walt Disney World? I thought it was season 3, but I bought the DVD and it's not included. Was it season 4, or is it just not available on DVD?

I really like this show but I have to ask……Why is Kate so freaking tan now? I mean, I'm all for a healthy glow, but this chicky is one step away from being called an oompa loompa.

The Disney episode is on that list...season 2, episode 11 Hit The Road

I had read the other reviews here on Amazon and was concerned to read that some people thought the DVD set was incomplete. I ended up buying it anyway, since this was the only DVD set my local store had and I kind of needed it immediately. I've since watched it, written down the episode list, and compared it to the complete episode list available at IMDB. I thought I would put the information up here for other people considering this product, so they'll know exactly what's on this DVD and what's missing. So here's the list of the episodes which ARE on this DVD set!

Disc One:
- 10 Little Pumpkins
- Twins Turn 6
- Gosselins Go West
- Shopping for Ten
- Garage Makeover
- Housekeeper Hunt
- Pancakes & Potties
- Jon Turns 30
- Sextuplets Turn 3!
- Breakfast in Bed

Disc Two:
- Gosselins Go Dutch
- Sextuplets' First Dentist Visit
- Red, White, & Gosselin
- Sugar Rush
- A Cow Purchase
- Sara Snow Visits!
- Babies & Bedrooms Part One
- Babies & Bedrooms Part Two
- BONUS: Surviving Sextuplets & Twins One-Hour Special

Just so you know, season one is complete, but season two is missing a total of three episodes. And strangely, some of these episodes are presented out of order, which seems odd. But anyway, just so you know, here are the episodes that are missing from this DVD set.

The Missing Episodes Are:
- A Day At The Zoo (Season 2, Episode 10)
- Hit The Road (Season 2, Episode 11)
- How It All Began (Season 2, Episode 12)

How lame. I'd buy it if that episode were on there, actually. I know someone who gets a decent employee discount.

On another note, way to quote the source, Madge. It's just awful when people steal internet stuff.

you know I love me some source quoting :upsidedow

and I didn't like the idea of pulling info from that gal's review, I almost didn't do it. But it was one of the first posts I found that clearly explained the missing episodes.... I wanted to make sure she got the credit!

You're such a doll! ;)

Grr... I bought both of those DVDs so that I could watch them go to WDW. I've seen the episode of them going to the beach after WDW...

I'm thoughtful like that. LOL.
:lmao:

what in the world are we going to do around here for the next 5 weeks until the new season starts?

Surely there will be a marathon between now and then. We could make bets on how many times newbies hop in to talk about how mean Kate is, how Jon is a saint, how they would come across just like that if they were on tv, whine about freebies or ask what happened to Beth and Jodi.

Or we could make that table of contents we were talking about to point people to when they ask those questions. :rotfl: I still have the second thread in my subs, I think. :thumbsup2
