Interesting. It could be possible. Personally, I think Jodi's sister caused a lot of the tension. She should have just stayed out of the whole thing. But everyone needs their 10 minutes of fame.

I think all the kids are beautiful and sweet but is it me or could Mady use an extra time out or two?
I couldve died when one of the little girls (cant remember which one it was) came up to her in the salon and asked Mady if she wanted to look like her and Mady told her that she NEVER wanted to look like her.
I felt so bad for the little one. That was one particular time that she better be glad I wasnt her mom not only would she have apologized to her little sister but she would've "got a trip to the bathroom" if you catch my meaning.

I couldn't believe that Kate was okay with Mady not getting her hair done at all. Sorry, at 8 years old you don't get to make that choice, it's decided for you.

I saw some 4 year olds running around in their underwear and peeing outside, doesn't bother me, but if it were J&K people would throw a fit. I saw some kids hitting each other too.

I agree. And the GWOP crew is even saying what a wonderful thing it is that the dad blocked the girl on the toilet when she had her accident in the restaurant. They still showed the kids on the toilet. It's okay because it wasn't Kate. Make up your mind people. Same thing with the kids peeing in the park.

If the Hayes are from NJ (pp said she knew them is from NJ) cops around here do pretty good. Enough to support a family of 10 kids? That I don't know. But the ones in our town make close to 6 figures or a little above.

Leah was so cute in the spa. Asking why she needed to wear the robe and completely getting into the relaxation aspect of it.

I'm in Northern Ocean Co. and am always amazed at how much the cops make. DH always says if he was younger he'd go to the police academy. A neighbor of ours is getting close to his 20 years and is thinking about retiring and he's not even 45. Their pension is great, plus most of the guys go and get easy cake jobs just for something to do.

I thought it said Marlboro on his truck in the beginning of the show. I was wondering if it was NJ. At one point she said something that sounded very New Englandish so I thought maybe they were in Massachusetts.

that was really adoreable. After she said it I thought the same thing.. "yeah! why are they getting robes if they are just getting pedicures?!" Apparently I've never had THAT fancy of a pedicure yet.

also the part about taking the girls to get pedicures and kate was saying something like "I think we are starting a bad habit here" or something.. lol. I mean, I guess she hasn't done it too much (it was the little girls first real pedicure and the second for the big girls I think she said) but yes, if you get your kids into the habit of getting pedicures and you have 5 girls and a mom, it's going to be pricey if you have to pay out of pocket! what is a pedicure? Like 20 dollars? say they even give them a discount on the little girls to 10... that would still be... 60 for mom and the big girls and then another 30 for the little ones.. so maybe 90 dollars a pop?

This is one of the reasons I feel that in my opinion the Gosselins have become "unrelatable"... We (the viewers) look at pedicures and say, yikes, this would be pricey - but the Gosselins do not have to worry about things like that anymore, like most of us do. I believe that due to the show they are very wealthy. I have friends who are very well-off and to them $90 at a pop for pedicures would be nothing! If they were a family of ten people without a tv show, living on one parent's income, I doubt they would be getting pedicures, traveling to these great luxury vacations, etc. The show is the choice they have made to insure that their kids have these things, and that's fine. However, it has gone beyond them doing the show to insure the kids' college funds, support themselves in a normal "middle class" manner, etc. Once they move to their new home, they will be living on a much higher economic plane than most of us viewers. They are certainly entitled to do that, but to me that makes the show more "aspirational" than relatable, kwim? Something like pedicures for six people would be "pricy" for us, but not for the Gosselins. I think most of us can relate to going to Hershey Park or Crayola Factory with our families; luxury Hawaiian vacations, with five days at a luxury resort in San Diego, or a deluxe Utah ski vacation, not so much.

As for the wedding episode, I remembered it was on, but I didn't bother watching it. Another beautiful resort, another travelogue of the Gosselins enjoying the sites of the locale. I'm sure I will see it on reruns though!!

I only watched about 20 minutes of it. I will say that when I saw them yesterday on a talk show, I thought they were refreshing to watch and not so "perfect" like the Gosselin family. Plus no one was acting like Mady and the parents seemed to like each other and not be condescending towards each other. Just like a normal family.

I'm sure they were on their best behavior because of the cameras. J&K are so used to the cameras now that they are not watching everything they say and do. If this family had a series, I'm sure that would change.

Hawaii is over and loved it. Still hate that they're getting everything for free and none of us can relate, but still loved looking at everything Hawaii.

Why do you hate it? I'm not saying this is the case with you, but so many people just seem jealous that the family gets things for free. They are sacrificing a lot for all those "free" things. I wouldn't take any of it if it meant giving up my privacy.

If Kate had demanded she get her hair done, she would have been criticized for being too controlling. Another situation where she just couldn't win either way. She was trying to be laid back and not cause any tension. She probably expected that Mady would have a meltdown if she forced her and she didn't want the day to be ruined.

I agree. I am confused about this show now. I thought that it was about watching the struggles of a couple raising multiples. I liked watching her clip coupons and shop. It was fascinating seeing how they get by. Now, with all the traveling and such, it seems it should be on the travel channel or some type of lifestyles of the rich and famous, especially once we see them in their big, new house. The appeal is gone for me. They need to decide what type of show they want to be.

No "hopefully" to it. We've already discussed it here and it is on their website which charities the money went to.

I totally agree. I thought it was nice that Kate was allowing them to pick their own nail color and how they wanted their hair. Allowing the girls to get curls even though she stated she didn't want them to have curls. And allowing Maddy to not get her hair done up was a good choice for Maddy. It has been discussed that Maddy might have some "issues" as a parent of a child with "issues" sometimes you have to do what's best for the situation and for them. If having her hair done was going to put her in a situation that might cause a melt down WHY do it?

Are J&K going to be able to provide this lifestyle in the future? Are the kids (and J&K) going to be disappointed if they can't? Is money being put away for college?

With the amount of money they make and how little of it is actually spent on these lavish things my guess is that they have quite a sizable back account.

damn. I reallllly had hoped that it was a yard sale, and the mention of the charitable donation on the website was all that there would be.

and it is. I know I say that regularly, but some of the things that have happened since all the bad publicity of the summer is damage control. It is. You can't tell me it isn't - we know they're reading the blogs, they have professional representation, etc. There's got to be SOMEONE out there listening to the critics ... for the Gosselin franchise is to remain successful, then they have no choice but to listen the critics and make necessary adjustments. It's good business sense, IMO.

But for the donation to charity? It's one of my pet peeves (specifically, the Gymboree & Gap clothes) that they don't give back. It's no secret that they consign. What I would like to see happen? They make the donation that ISN'T part of the PR machine/show. Just do it, with no muss or fuss. And maybe hear about it later, as an aside... or from the charity that benefits. And maybe they do that. I truly hope they are. I hope that Jon & Kate are teaching those children how genuinely blessed they are.

that's why I think a good idea would be for them to take volunteer vacations or show the family volunteering in their own community somehow.. there are tons of ways! they could work in a soup kitchen or work with the SPCA (all the kids love animals)... this way they would not only be doing "damage control" but they would be giving back, putting on an informative and entertaining episode, the kids would be getting a "life experience" (as Kate likes to talk about all the time) and learning, and they would be getting paid for it. Everyone wins!

There are varied reasons. Some choose not to be on camera, some are really not here on a daily (or weekly) basis for different reasons, and some don’t understand our job and how it relates to our “real” lives…which is still puzzling to us… “Our life is our show and our show is our life,” I always say and it is a very hard balance!

Yeah, but look at the site now compared to how it was earlier. You can't tell me that site hasn't been worked over with a fine-tooth (PR) comb. If they're doing some things for damage control because of their PR pros, why wouldn't they have Kate put the quote out there?

Yep. I did a complete overhaul on a local businesses image, and we went over every, single, tiny detail before anything went into the public eye.

I'm sure they do. They would be foolish not to.

It has been mentioned here (by many, me included) that we only see what the production staff wants us to see. We only know what they want us to know. But my point is .. I think that the show is their life, literally.... and I think that we see a LOT of their lives. I really do. I hope not. I hope those kids have lots of down time and fun, and that there are things we don't know.
