newtodis- i agree, i wouldn't want that to be shown of my kids either. I definitely see your point. I was only making mention that although they may suggest what they want or not want in the show, its editing's decision as well as the network... they are under contract and have unfortunately sold their soul to TLC/Discovery Network. Maybe thats why it was aired!? I agree I wouldnt want to sit on the interview couch and discuss it either, but maybe thats what they wanted the public to know about the reality in the life of their household. Again, im with you though. Personally, i wouldnt be picking out furniture id be at the doctor as well. But... thats us, and all humans think differently. :hippie:

I hope that you will have the decency and respect not to come back on here and feed the vultures that are eager to devour every morsel of Jon & Kate dirt they can get. As a professional, I'm sure you wouldn't consider it.

Obviously, I am a fan of the show. I honestly believe most of the backlash is due to jealousy. I know I'm jealous! They all get to have amazing experiences that otherwise wouldn't be possible without the show. Also, these eight children get way more family time than my kiddos. Kate isn't perfect. She is human afterall. It is interesting that so many other humans (who are not perfect themselves) spend so much time and energy picking Jon and Kate apart and expressing their own "holier than thou" views.

If you don't have anything better to do, may I suggest dissecting your own lives b/c I'm sure there's room for improvement.

Let the flames begin....

Just popping in, no flames. Maybe the kids will be comfortable that much of their lives were on display because of the show. Maybe they won't. I'll put my money on believing they will be rather embarrassed when they are teens and beyond. JMO

My kids aren't perfect, either. But, their experiences and mistakes for the most part are private, and aren't revisited in reruns.

I totally understand there are lots of fans of the show. It wouldn't exist if there weren't. Just a different take. No hard feelings. :goodvibes

You've been here a long time.
You probably racked up more posts in the last 3 months, then in the last 10 years, lol.
I think you're right about that! I rarely ventured over to the Community Board before I discovered this thread. LOL

I hope the thread can remain civil and not get shut down.
It's getting to 250 pages.
Maybe we all should take a break until next season,
but I don't see that happening, if Jon and Kate keep turning up in the tabloid news.
I love this thread -- I really feel like it's one of the most civilized discussions about Jon & Kate out there. I'd hate to see it closed after nearly 500 pages. That would be sad. :sad1:

Now that the weather's gotten nicer, it's time to be outside .. I think I've taken a million pictures in the last week or so, and I've gotten my photography blog caught up. A break from this thread (at least for me) might not be a bad idea.

I agree. Because not only to people here read and discuss, folks from other ... more Gosselin-intense blogs lurk here as well. You may find your thoughts spread to places you never intended.

Those kids really aren't any more scheduled than most American Children with Music lessons/soccer/football/cheerleading/art lessons/play dates/etc etc etc.

That is a whole other can of worms there. I guess most kids are fortunate enough to have all of those activites, events, ups and downs, victories and defeats be private. Or at least just preserved on their parent's home videos for the future inevitable :rotfl:embarrasment.

Does anyone else thing it's kind of weird that the kids had potties everywhere? I saw one episode where Kate yelled at one of the kids to use the potty in the garage if she had to pee. Why not just use the bathroom in the house?

I guess it can be difficult to take that many kids to the potty. But still, it was weird to have them set up in the garage. Someone mentioned that the kids pee'd on the beach in their potties. Were there no restrooms around?

Maybe I'm over-reacting about this. It just seemed a little weird to me.

Re: Jealousy
i mean who wouldn't want free stuff, free trips, houses, food, etc... etc...etc?? :)
If it was all about jealousy, we'd all hate famous actors, singers, commediens and so on.
I really DO like watching the show. But it's not so much because of watching the kids anymore, even my DH would say something like, oh what's kate going to do this week? While I'm on the topic of DH, he said if I'd ever acted like Kate, he'd be long gone by now.
I think the show is so popular NOW because it's the suspense between J&K.
It's very obvious that the producers or editors of whoever are making Kate look bad on purpose. I'm sure we've all seen the echo Kate voice of the season finale commercial!
Maybe she's not like that all the time, but that is whats showed on tv.

It doesn't seem weird to me with all those kids that probably had to go at once.

When my girls were 3 or 4 they would always pee in their pants at the door because they would be playing outside and would wait until the last possible second to try to make it to the bathroom and then they couldn't get the door open!! I should have put a potty by the door it would have saved me a ton of laundry!! ;)

I agree, it doesn't seem weird to me. If all the kids were outside playing and she's alone with them, she'd have to herd all 8 kids in just for 1 to go to the potty. Then repeat the same process 5 minutes later.

This is the 2nd thread for Jon and Kate PLus 8.

Is it Spring in Kentucky, I will be there next week at this time.
In Wisconsin, we only have a few spots of green grass, and I just saw some tulips poke through.

Caught the furniture store re-run last night. Holy guacomole. I had seen it before, but that has got to be the worst ever. Why oh why were those kids there? Was it Collin with the severe bathroom issues? He was actually crying for her in the store as she was engrossed in furniture catalogs. Jon said,"Don't bother, she won't help you." Then they lauged and laughed on the (then happy) couch about Jon using a grocery bag to "help" Collin with his bm in the wide open cargo part of the van in the parking lot of a retail business with other children gawking. That was disgraceful and disgusting...I felt so sorry for them all. The kids were miserable and the parents appreared foolish. Real sanitary situation too. Kate the nurse/germaphobe? Not so much. Will these kids end up alright? I can't imagine what that house is really like if this is what is chosen to show the public. okay, I feel a little better. :headache:

:scared1: That really happened? :sad2:

This is the episode that sent me to the internet looking for more. It really was a turning point for me with this show.

I have just started to watch J&Kplus8. I was roaming around the DIS and saw this thread. :lmao: Yep, you got me to start watch the show. I have to tape it and watch when my DH isn't around or asleep. :rolleyes1 Not his idea of fun.

My question is when was the above show taped? Has it been years? I missed the furniture show, will have to watch and see if they re-run it. I just can't believe a mom would do and say that. Guess I will have to see it for myself. The children are just so cute, loving and sweet (most of the time) like all kids. It is just too sad if their mom is really like that.

Kate always seemed like such a germaphobe. The thought of people peeing in those potties, plus having those things in a car seems like something she wouldn't want. But I hear what you guys are saying about the potties being more practical for them.

I don't even watch the show I just came by yesterday after I saw them on TMZ and thought that is odd,:lmao: I read your post and wanted to chime in. I am the youngest of 6 with a grandma who lived with us and 2 bathrooms. Bathroom time was hard to get. None the less we all were given our privacy. At a certain age for me around preK, 3or 4 I can remember wanting privacy, and before that my mom always gave it to us. So yep having those potties everywhere is odd for me, my mom was on top of eating times bathroom times, you know what I mean. It seems like such a basic right.

Oh, forgot to mention. I just watched Table for 12 last night. Holy cow is that show boring! The tups are roughly the same age as the Gosselins, but they weren't nearly as cute/funny/interesting. Now part of that may be that they haven't been in front of cameras most of their lives, but still.....

How in the world do they afford that house with 12 kids? It looked pretty big and nice to me (nicely remodeled kitchen). Does she work? He is a cop and NJ is a very expensive state to live in. I just found that to be a little odd. What is the story there?

I found the parents to be funny when they were together, but alone they were so dull. They seem like a nice enough family though. I will watch a few more weeks to give it a chance, but love or hate them, the Gosselins are entertaining.
I watched and while I was excited to see places I knew, like The Jenkinsons Aquarium, I thought the show itself was boring. I wanted to jump in the TV and shake them when they were trying to decide who was going to drive. Somebody just take the keys and go!

Just a thought, but maybe Nana Janet is the "mystery" helper that Kate mentioned. She always seemed like someone who didn't really want to be on TV to begin with but loved the kids. Also, didn't she used to watch Jon as a kid and J&K moved back close to the area Jon grew up so it is possible that Janet is still around? The way she talked about how much they loved her and she wasn't going anywhere made me think she was someone who has been around for a long time. It just seemed liked really strong comments to make about someone you just met.

Joan was the one that watched Jon as a kid. Janet met up with them after the sextuplets were born.

I just went on the TLV website and found "Kate's tips for a smooth household". This was a tip I don't remember ever seeing her to this one.

Tip #7 Reward Your Children

Reward them for their helpfulness and kindness—if only with your words, this will mean a lot to them. They want your approval

I think I knew that .. a DIS volume lock would be one thing, a can't play nice lock would be altogether different.

Ahh,
we are lucky if we see daffodils and tulips by the end of April.
I know they are in full bloom the middle of May.
We have May crowning at our church the 2nd week in May and everyone brings their tulips.
