They got the 'shorter haired' puppies because they would shed less?!?! From someone who has owned German Shepherds for over 15 years, I would like to say one thing to Kate... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! :rotfl: :happytv: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I see 3 different breed of dogs in your sig. LOL.
Anyway, when I grew up, I remember a girl getting bit by a German Shepherd.
She was walking on the sidewalk on main street and the dog got loose.
Do you think a German Shepherds was a good choice?
My nephew is autistic and he has a golden retriever that was trained to work with him I think the family would of been better off with something more floppy, moppy.
Or am I wrong about the German Shepherds.
I just see "police dog", I just don't see huggible, loveable here.

Lord a mercy. I turned on the first few minutes but had to take the advice given many times here...turn the channel. Actually I walked away for most of it. Kate is as thin as a rail and brown as a bean. With those super white teeth...wow. Anyway; the dogs. Poor, poor dogs (and kids)! They didn't even let the twins think they were having any say in the dogs, breed, or NAMES! Come on guys, we all have to be psychologists and parents. Collin said "what do the boys get?" Too cute. They chose a tough breed, two of them, and "bought" them from someone who breeds/trains police dogs? Did they bring them home with no supplies or preparation? It sounded like the bringing them home part was spur of the moment. This little bit I saw was:banana: kooky!
Did you see her pasting up all those toothbrushes for her bibbed 4.5 year olds to still brush in the kitchen? Good gravy!

Anyone watching tonight? I can't believe Kate picked the dog's names! At least let the kids choose a few names, then pick some out of that group!

Actually, I think they should have brought the twins and let them pick the dogs and the names. The little kids would prob. be happy with whatever dogs came home, plus having some presents under the tree! :rotfl:

"He stepped in his poop, he smells gross, he's going back..I'm not kidding!" The kids don't know she's joking! How horrible! :scared1:  :sad2:

I didn't see anything wrong with them picking out the names. Omg...I can't imagine having 8 kids try to come up with a name. Out last cat was nameless for a week and there are only 2 kids in my house that had to agree. I would have done the same thing. Actually, I have...I think I have named all of our animals!! ;)

I really didn't see any traumatized kids when she said the dogs were going back....I think that's reading a little too much into that vent.

Yeah.....I thought that was pretty funny too.

I love GSD's, I would trust my brothers GSD with kids way before I would trust my grouchy bipolar Golden.

;) Actually, there are three. I have had two Golden Retrievers, two German Shepherds (the white dog is a white German Shepherd) and a Cardigan Welsh Corgi.
Let me say that a good German Shepherd is a fantastic dog! Loyal, protective, intelligent, etc. but an aggressive, dominant Shepherd is a total train wreck. It takes a lot of training and dicipline to properly raise a German Shepherd. Honestly, I just don't see Jon and Kate being able to pull it off. They are 'novice' dog owners and just have too much chaos going on in their lives to put the time and training necessary into two puppies.

I thought Kate looked great. I wish they hadn't gotten dogs, but I'm sure they will be fine. If not, the breeder said they would take them back....plus the money from the dogs got donated to charity.

I don't know what the big deal is about the kids not naming the dogs...its not that serious. :confused3

if the rumors are true, she wasn't kidding. the puppies may be gone, already.

I would think that would be best for the puppies, but I would think that if they got rid of the puppies they wouldn't air the episode. But I guess it's the cuteness factor of the puppies will get people to watch.

Who knows.....I'm just a mindless fan who won't believe anything bad about Kate ;)

Figuring the show was taped some time in late November/early December ( I think they said they were getting their Christmas present about 3 weeks early), I would bet by now they are gone if it's true what was posted up thread about getting rid of them because of "allergies".

I don't think anyone knows this to be a fact or not yet, so it's just speculation on everyone's part.

there's an upcoming episode about a trip to the vet. and allegedly, Jon makes reference to the puppies at the Penn St. appearance, so who knows? I won't be surprised either way. LOL.

I am dating this episode to have been Saturday, December 6th. I am assuming they went on a Saturday since the kids were out of school. It was snowing/icy when they got home and we did have a little storm on the evening of the sixth. No....I don't have a freakish memory on the weather, but it was my FIL birthday and my SIL was coming home from Disney that night and I remember hoping the weather wouldn't be a factor for them.

I think they mentioned in the interview that they had the puppies 6 weeks at that point, so that puts them to mid-late January of still having them.

I guess it makes sense that they took the puppies home rather than driving all the way back out to get them. Probably not the ideal circumstances, but with the holidays coming up and stuff, I probably would have done the same thing too.

Also, the naming didn't bother me either. We just got a cat the other week and I didn't give my son any input on naming her. I brought her home and said, this is Riley. I totally get Kate's point about having to call these dogs that for the next however many years and wanting good names.

I was glad to hear that the breeder will take the dogs back if need be, but I really am against that and hope that doesn't turn out to be the case.

Ok, I missed what she named the dogs. I was giving my son a nebulizer treatment and could barely hear the tv.

I did feel badly for Aiden, being afraid. Did he get better with them?

I totally see her getting rid of the dogs based on her comments last night. She seemed totally annoyed with them by the end of the show...commenting on them biting and how much work they were. Duh...what did you expect???;)

I have no problem with Jon & Kate picking the name, but I thought Mady's behavior was over the top. She came across as totally spoiled. :sad2: (was Cara acting that way too? I couldn't really tell) She reminded me of Veruca Salt

There is only one question that I was thinking about the whole episode : Why are they getting puppies when you obviously don't want them:confused3 I just found the whole thing a little strange.

I didn't see anything wrong with Jon and Kate picking the names, I think I would have done the same thing. When I was a kid and we got a dog my little sister wanted to name him "Licky"...I can only imagine what names would have come out of eight little ones!!!

But I do have to say that I don't think Kate said one NICE thing about the dogs!! At one point she said "They're cute but....." and went on to say something negative. I really hope they don't get rid of the dogs, once they are trained and grow up a little bit they won't be so bad. Heck I'm sure Jon and Kate can afford a dog trainer!!

The male is Show-ka (not sure how to spell it, so I spelled it phonetically). I guess that was one of their body guards in Hawaii.

The female is Nala.

I only caught the last half, but I saw her fawning all over one of them at the breeder's.
