Joking with characters

I know that you can get some good answers from characters by asking them things. For instance, asking Peter Pan what it's like to fly, or asking Gaston who he is gonna marry. But has anyone really joked with them, like mixing them up with different characters? For instance, asking Snow White about her two step sisters, or ask Cinderella to name her 7 little friends? I'm curious what they would say.

They'd probably just be confused, or say oh you must mean my friend Cinderella/Snow White.

There might be a couple situations where it might be funny, you could try to call Gaston LeFou, that might be a pretty funny interaction, I'm sure he would be insulted.

I usually don't but I am more shy that way but one time I tried insulting Gaston by telling him I left a place for him to sign his name on the last page insinuating that he was least important but he said "ah, saving the best for last!"

I haven't intentionally tried to trip them up, but I have had Great interaction with the Stepsisters, Fairy Godmother, Ariel, Snow White, The Twiddles and many others. If you stay within their story, the chances of great interaction are better.

In all the years Disney has been open, I can't imagine someone hasn't done this. I'm just curious if they have a good answer when it happens.

Call them SQUIRRELS.

I do know they will acknowledge knowing each other
I've had Jasmine tell us that Ariel's daughter Melody was giving Abu a swimming lesson (when she saw that DGD's name is Melody)
And Rapunzel told me all about her trip to see Aurora's castle in her kingdom (out in CA, when I wore my 60th anniversary pins on my hat)

We have a lot of fun interacting with the characters. Often get the feeling it's a nice break for them. We don't overdo it if the line is long, tho. Haven't ever gone "off-script" -- maybe I'll give that a try next trip. I took Snow White an apple once and warned her not to accept any from strangers (especially from little old ladies, of which I am one). Even got to have a conversation with R2D2 once during SWW -- "he" came out early, and the handler saw me taking video of him and he sent R2 over to the the line. It was awesome. Chip and Dale, and Goofy, still faves for best interactions.

When I see Chip at Garden Grill I the him that Dale says he does all the work around the restaurant. That has always been fun

My favorite interaction was with Cruella years ago. I was wearing a pin lanyard and it was raining. She looked me up and down and in a very haughty voice said "where is MY pin?". In an equally haughty voice I replied "really? My Cruella pins are far too valuable to wear in the rain"

she took a moment and replied "good answer"

Still makes me smile.

One year my son (maybe 6 at the time) told all the characters (not funny) jokes he made up on the spot. That was some of the best interaction we ever had, but it was completely unplanned. He told Goofy a joke at Cape May breakfast as we were sitting down and every time goofy saw him he'd start laughing again. A lot of times the handlers and photographers got in on the joke telling too which was fun.

I think the characters can tell planned interactions vs unplanned, too. I've called Chip and Dale by the wrong name on purpose several times (or called them squirrels), but the one time I mixed them up BY ACCIDENT (because they switched places on me and I wasn't actually looking at them), I got a much bigger response from them.

At MNSSHP 2 years ago the Cruella was attempting to make a business deal with me dressed up as the wicked witch and Jack Sparrow. She wanted an island of puppies, she said Jack could get the island and I could get the puppies and that we'd all benefit from it.

I think the really funny responses would be if you did things like this to the villains. For example, if you talked to Snow Queen about how she is the most evil of the villains because she can turn herself into a dragon or asking Maleficent if she thinks that the mirror on her wall ever lies to her. I'd imagine that Snow Queen would talk about how she is far too beautiful to ever be a dragon and Maleficent would talk about how she is much too powerful to need to rely on a mirror to tell her anything. As others have said, I highly suspect that the princesses would be sweet and just say that you are mixing her up with a friend of hers.

My Dad ran up to Donald Duck and told him he was so excited to meet his favorite... Mickey Mouse! Donald's reaction was hilarious. He wouldn't even talk to him for a minute, just turned his back and crossed his arms. It was great.
