I'm interesting in buying BWV or BCV. Is a resale outlet my only option or can I call DVC and tell them this what I want to buy into and how many points I want? If you can go through Disney, has anyone done this and do reccommend it? If resale is the only option, recommendations???

Thanks!

if you are already a DVC member, you can add-on at any resort, depending on availability...for a minimum of 25 pts if you pay cash or 50 pts if you finance. there are no closing costs for add-ons.

assuming you're not already a member, you can buy in at any resort, but have to buy a minimum of 160 pts. most guides are geared toward selling SSR and AKV, and may require extra effort to convince them that you're only interested in BWV or BCV, so you need to make this clear. there are closing costs involved buying direct, but they are generally smaller than buying resale.

i bought a small contract resale through TTS (this site's sponsor) to start my DVC ownership and had a great experience. you do need to watch out for resale contracts that have been stripped of current points, but most likely, you will save a little money by buying resale...if you can find a contract that you like.

(BTW, if you don't need 160 pts and are looking for a smaller contract, resale is your only option and your best bet is to call TTS and get on the email list for contracts that have yet to be posted to the website...small contracts can go quickly!)

You can buy direct from DVC for any resort they have available. If they don't have the resort available that you're looking for, you can ask to be put on a waiting list for it. There's no way of telling how long the wait might be.

One benefit of buying directly from DVC is you can tailor the contract to the number of points you want (that is, if you want 160 or more points, which is the minimum new purchase for non-members). With resale, you have to buy the contract as it exists.

As chalee94 already said, DVC's first priority is going to be to sell you something at SSR or AKL. Just hold to your guns and be firm that you know what you want and will go resale if you have to.

My DH and I just purchased BCV through Disney and it was no problem at all. I think we got a good guide, he never tried to talk me into another resort when I told him that I wanted BCV. Some UY are hard to come by at BCV so you may have to wait awhile. We were waiting for a June-Oct UY but I got too impatient:lmao: so I called my guide and said we would take anything he could find. He found us something in 3 days!:cool1: The whole process was very easy.
