Hello everyone... well looks like I'm going to have to postpone my wedding. Bad thing is that I have already paid my deposit.... 2 weeks ago. So I don't know what is going to happen... but I'm scared to find out. The reason for the postponing is because my dh2b's ex wife won't sign the separation agreement so that they can move forward with the divorce... so it looks like we are going to be in for a long court divorce. So I'll be lucky to get married in 2008... instead of May 18th 2006, I was suppose to be getting married in 6 months... argh this is such a piss off! Anyways.. just needed to vent and shed a few tears.. but I guess that is life!

hwygirl1928 - my thoughts are with you! here are hugs being sent your way. I know it must be a horrible situation. You wanting to move on with your new life together and her wanting to hold you back. Good Luck and I'm sure it will be all the more meaningful once your day arrives.

What state are you in? My fiance is a divorce lawyer in IL, he said that here the divorce does not have to be finalized before you get married the judgement just has to be entered. In Il you file, have a grounds hearing and after that you enter the judgement of dissolution of marriage. You do not have to mess with seperation papers but it varies by state.

Hwygirl1928, I am so sorry to hear that. <<Hugs>>

I would do as WonderWomanDC mentioned and see if it is possible to move your ceremony to another date in the "future" so that you don't lose your deposit (or maybe only lose a portion of it). I'm not sure if that is possible, but it is definitely worth looking into.

Again, <<hugs>> to you at this sad time.

Yeah im sure that if you called them and explained your situation they might let you use it for another date!

Good luck + hope it all works out ok!

Hwygirl1928...

I'm so sorry you've had to postpone your celebration...but don't be afraid to call Disney!!! I'm sure they will still work with you. I think I would see about getting that deposit refunded and put it in a savings account where it can at least earn some interest before you can start your planning again. Disney may "hold" it for you, but I'm not sure that would be in your best interests (Disney has been known to "lose track" of things sometimes).

I hope you get to start planning again soon!!! And, there could be a bright side to all this...Disney may come up with some wonderful changes/additions in the next couple of years and you have more time to save money to have some of the extras that maybe you couldn't swing this time!!!

Good luck and keep us posted, okay!?!?!?

I know you were afraid of this happening! I'm so sorry. You wedding was around the time of mine and I can't imagine how it would feel to postpone. You'll figure things out in the end. His ex can't trap him in a 'relationship' (legally) forever.

Awww sweetie how sad, I'm so sorry for all involved. I really do think that you need to talk to Disney about holding your deposit, get on the phone to your sales manager, hopefully they'll be able to help.

I hope that the divorce doesn't remain messy, but I do hope that you're going to stick around here and as one who always trys to find a silver lining - imagine all the ideas you would have pulled together for your wonderful wedding in 2008.

I'm keeping everything crossed for you that your are erring on the side of caution and that you will be able to have your Disney dream wedding sooner rather than later :grouphug:

I'm sorry to hear she's being a pain in the butt... I hope things have started to work themselves out for you so that you can both move on with your new life. Everything will work out. You'll see. That might not sound very reassuring right now, but there's a reason for everything. I truly believe that because I've seen it in my own life. I send lots of hugs and smiles your way!! :teeth: I'll keep you in my prayers. And his ex-wife (soon to be) as well... sounds like she needs them.

Hey hun!

I'm so sorry! It will all work out the way it's supposed to in the end. I'm sorry that it's delaying you so badly though...

Talk to Disney about the deposit. At the point we started planning, Brye was still active duty and wasn't supposed to be getting out for another three years. We got a lucky break and he got out in May. BUT, at the point we made our deposit, etc., we had no idea which ship he would be going to or what the ship's schedule was. With a surge ready Navy (ie, they leave whenever they're needed), we were in limbo if he'd even be home. Disney told us it would not be a problem to hold the deposit for the postponed date if it was needed.

Granted, military orders in the active duty could, "seen," differently becuase it is so unpredictable, but they might be willing to work with you. They could come back and say, "You should have waited," but I tend to doubt it.

PM me if they give you a hard time... I have a phone number that might help.
