Joining old magic bands to new tickets

I’m sure there is an easy way to do this on the website or in the app but I am not finding it. Do you know where I go to do that? I called technical support and was on hold for almost an hour yesterday before I had to hang up and would like to avoid that again today.
I’m sure it’s just something I’m overlooking—thanks

Magic bands are not linked to tickets exactly. Magic bands are linked to people in your MDE account. Tickets are also linked to people in your MDE account. All you need to do is assign a ticket to a person that already has a magic band linked, and then that magic band will work for the person using the ticket. Think of the magic band like a key that allows you to access anything in the MDE account for a particular person, including ticket entitlements, rooms, photopass, fast passes, etc.

We just did this for our trip over President's Day weekend!! DH and I went kid-free and we had 2 active Magicbands in our MDE account from our trip last June and we had NO issues at the parks! Just like when you arrive for the first time, we had to scan our bands, and then finger scan and then we were IN!

The only concern I would have is "how old are your bands" since the batteries in them do die - ours were only a year old so we had no problems. When we go in June 2020 we will buy new bands!

Remember the battery is only for the “long distance scans” of the magic bands, for linking photos from certain rides. Even after the battery no longer works, they will work to access MDE at tapstyles (gate, FP, etc).

As stated previously, as long as both the ticket and magic band are assigned to the same person in MDE, the magic band will access the ticket.

Ok thanks! How do I link the magic bands to the person? Or how do I know if they still are linked? They are our bands from 2 years ago, I’m assuming they are still linked???
TIA

When you log into my disney experience, there's a magicbands and cards page. The magic bands you manage should be listed there. For example my page lists my band (and also some old plastic tickets) and my daughter's band. My husband has his own account so his is on his MDE.

How do you find out if your battery is still working? We have 2 year old bands and I'd rather use them, but I also want those ride photos/videos.
