I joined the list last fall sometime, but DH requested that I not start "dieting" until DD turned one as we didn't want to jeaopardize losing my milk.

Well, DD turned 1 on Friday, so I'm back! Since I'm sure most people don't know or remember me, I'll start from the beginning.

I am 27yo, 5'7" and weighed 225 pre-pregnancy. I started counting down after hitting that weight again. I currently weigh 215, but am ready to start working dilligently towards my goal weight of 145 (tentatively, at least, until I talk to my doctor about her idea of a goal weight). However, my ultimate goal is better overall health, including lower cholesterol and better eating habits.

My plan is simply better eating. I am notorious at not fixing meals and either skipping them or eating out. By Monday, 3/1 I have a goal of eating 3 meals a day, with 75% of them prepared at home. The second half of my plan is increased exercise, primarily walking. I am working on building to 10,000 steps per day (right now I am averaging 6500).

I look foward to having the support of everyone here and offering encouragment to all of you!

Welcome back, Tia. I know how that milk thing goes....don't want to mess that up.

OK. So now it's time to put the plan to work. Good for you.

Any questions, ask away. This is a great place for info and inspiration!:)

See ya around.:sunny:

Welcome back Tia!!! Glad to have a returning WISHer to the boards! Speaking as a mom of a 2 yr old, you are entering a phase of parenting that will encourage mobility on your part. Exercising won't be as tough as you think - as they enter toddler stage, they are your exercise machine! Up and down stairs, jumping up to nab them before they break something, dancing to the Wiggles, or Bear in the Big Blue House CD's - you name it, they want to do it!!!

Enjoy the ride, and enjoy the support of the WISHers here!!

Welcome back Tia! I just recently rejoined too, and I want to stick with it this time. I'm sure your little one will keep you active, too :D

Welcome back and your plan sounds like a great one for yourself. That is what we all need to remember is that we need to find plans that will work for us and not cause us to regret that we are getting healthy. Sending lots of PD your way for you to meet your first goal of eating 3 meals a day (I'm still working on that one) and eating at home more. I know you can do this and I'm glad you came back!

Welcome back, Tia! Sounds like you have a great plan in place!! Is your DD walking yet!! I'll bet that will increase your steps per day!! :D

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I am excited to be back on the WISH board and am looking forward to getting myself moving on this lifestyle change. I did a lot of looking at different "diet plans: before I realized that they weren't for me. I needed something a little more basic and something that didn't sound like a diet. My plan will also help with another goal I set recently of getting the family to the dinner table. I want DD to grow up in a home where everyone eats together and talks over dinner, something that was a once a week think growing up due to may parent's work schedules.

DD isn't walking quite yet, but is getting very close. She is all over the place though and loves to crawl. I spend a lot of time just letting her crawl around everywhere and following close behind. We also go to DL ::MickeyMo 1-2 times a week and walk more than we ride, getting some extra exercise for the day. Plus, when we go to the parks with friends, we park at their house and walk the mile to and from the parks.

JenEeyore - that is one of my motivations for better health. I WANT to be able to fun, jump, dance and play for as long as Terra wants me to without having to bail out because I'm tired or out of breath. Of course, some days even the healthiest of parent's probably can't keep up with a toddler's energy :Pinkbounc , but I'd sure like to try! :)
