We go to WDW every 3-4 years and I am a dedicated, appreciative reader before each trip. We're trying to pull together a trip for late June. Should I join AAA just for a resort discount? On our last trip, we got a great deal at WL from an ad in our newspaper, but don't think we'll get that lucky this time. Are there only a limited amount of rooms available at AAA rate? If so, I feel they're probably all gone by this time.

Thanks for any advice.

I think membership for AAA is well worth the membership. We are using it for
our trip in August. We can't get free dining since we are going 8/21. I have
heard there only a certain amount of room available. We have used our AAA
discount for many things not just Disney.

We saved $283.50 (tax included) on our upcoming vacation by booking with AAA. Yeah, I think that membership is worth it. Maggie

We saved over $200 on our Jan 07 trip, which more than paid for the AAA membership.

I think we will join before our trip down. In addition to the room only discount, (about $300) there are a ton of establishments in our home town area that will make the membership worth the cost. 10% here and there adds up. We will be driving down from Michigan so we will get some hotel discounts on our drive down and back. It will also be nice to know we have road service. Hopefully we won't be using that benefit! ;)

Check out aaa.com to see what establishments in your hometown area participate with AAA.

Everytime I go onto the AAA website and click on the Disney Vacation Packages I can never get in. Does anyone else have this problem?

We have used AAA for our past 5 trips and are not members. We saved almost $400 on our upcoming August trip. Call your local AAA agency and ask if you have to be a member. Please don't flame me for not being a member and getting the benefits, if it was required we would join.

I've never been able to get into the Disney Vacation Packages either, even when I use my mom's membership #. A page pops up for me to fill out for an agent to call me.

I just joined today. I tried to get into the Disney reservations site on AAA also and just got a blank screen. I could view the Disney cruise reservations though and the prices looked cheaper to me with the AAA discount.

We already have ressies at Pop for June 2-9 at the new summer rate of $110 a night and we already have our park tickets that we got a great deal on from UT. I am not a member of AAA and I don't know if AAA could get me a discount on our rooms for these dates. Is this possible? Will AAA give discount for room only at Pop is you join? Also, what is the price for joining AAA?? I just trying to find a way to save a few bucks off our rooms for these dates, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We're using AAA for the second time to go do WDW. Last year, we saved over $300 at the Polynesian, and this year, we're saving close to $400. So it's certainly worth it to join just for the discount if you're going to Disney at a time when other discounts are generally not available (like in July when we go).

You cannot book AAA packages to WDW online. You have to call an agent directly.

What are some typical AAA rates? Im considering joining as well, but I can already get pretty deeply discounted rates for free on Expedia...are they better than those?

AAA discounted rooms are available in limited number. When those rooms are booked at a particular resort, no other AAA room discounts can be offered.

The best way to make this decision, would be to call CRO and explain you are considering the AAA membership and could they check that range of dates to see if AAA discounted rooms are available at POP for your stay.

They should be able to tell you yes, or no... and what the total savings would be.

AAA doesn't quote packages online. You get a form to contact an actual agent, and that person will get back to you. Inconvenient compared to booking through Disney, but worth it for the savings IME.

I posted the actual math for our upcoming trip on the other current AAA thread, but the short version is that if we go with 2 rooms at a mod, AAA saves us about $470. And if we go with a deluxe for that same trip, we'll save about $860. I'm still holding out hope for a code, since there have been discounts offered for our dates (early Oct) for the last few years, but the AAA rate is considerably better than rack. :thumbsup2
