I'm sorry, but I cannot stand the guy. If you like him, hey that's great, we're each entitled to our opinion. I just don't think he can sing. There's no way he should remain in the competition instead of Jennifer Hudson. He's got a little charisma thing going, but I just don't get the deal on this guy.

Just so you know NYC is a long long way from Buffalo, that's where John lives, very close to Buffalo.

I would like to meet him sometime too....I'm hoping he'll be shopping in the store I work at someday, it's very close to where he lives.

I think he has a great voice for singing Sinatra...but as far as any other type music goes he can't cut it. I do actually feel sorry for him when its Simons turn to talk!!

I agree with Simon...............he just has no charisma. He's kinda a cute kid, but just can't seem to connect with the TV audience for some reason, like he should smile more and try to sing to just you at home.

He seems like a very nice kid and I'm glad he doesn't conform. I just wish he would sing in tune, that's all. I LOVED it when he sang "King of the Road". He was perfect for that. But he is very limited as to the types of songs he can sing well. Also, I think he is still VERY nervous getting up there, and the fact that he is always getting bagged on by the judges contributes to his insecurities on stage. That is probably a big factor in why he doesn't sing on key. Probably at home and in practice he is on key, but the nerves get to him on stage.

John Stevens is 16 years old. I would expect him to develop over the next 5-10 years, but he is not AI material just yet (and maybe never will be). He is quite limited in his style of singing and didn't do well at all on the nights he had to sing outside of his comfort zone.

That being said, I like his style, but I'm coming up on 58 and this show is targeting a much younger audience. A lot of this has to do with personal taste. I play in a 20-piece Jazz and Swing band and our female vocalist has sung back-up with Barry Manilow and has done a lot of commercial work, but my wife doesn't care for her singing. Like I said, personal taste.

John Stevens has to find his niche and he is young enough that he has plenty of time for that. He just isn't an American Idol. My vote goes to Fantasia, Latoya, or Jennifer in a three-way tie!

well George...Jennifer is gone so I guess you have a tie between LaToay or Fantasia. I personally think LaToay will win.

Well - this is just my opinion - but I think he would make a fine husband for Little Pirate, he seems like such a nice, sweet and caring young man.

But as others said on his singing - personally I can't see him as the next American Idol. I tend to agree with Simon - it isn't that I don't like him, I just think there are others that are better. I expect that if he gets out there and works with a singing coach that he will be really, really good in the next year or so.

Little Pirate - Good Luck on the marriage - I hope he sings to you at the wedding!!!!

The simple fact that Jennifer is gone and John remains really mystifies me. Her talent is by far over and above the ones that are left. I am afraid that it's going to be another year like last. Clay obviously won last year but the producers can pick and choose and we will never really know because too many people can't even get thru to vote. It's a crock! I just really hope that LaToya is around for the last show. John started out to be very interesting and now is as boring as the rest of them. I used to really love this show but I will admit that I was very disappointed this week. I will continue to watch but with less faith in the American Public (if we can honestly say the American Public votes are being counted).

He looks like he is being forced to be on stage, like he is not enjoying himself... The only movements he does while singing is snapping his finger to keep up with the beat..... No stage presence at all.......I personally like energy, which he has none.

I like John Stevens and personally hope that he sticks around for a few more weeks. He has a relaxing, easy listening type voice like Harry Connick Jr. I don't understand why people keep raking the poor kid over the coals! He's 16 years old and is singing in front of 13 million people each week.

He doesn't have the experience that the "divas" have singing in front of so many people. Gee Whiz...... give the kid a break. I think he's doing a great job, considering the circumstances.

I like his style because he is different from the other singers.... so many of them sound like clones of each other. People knock him because he has one "style" of music. Well most singers do! He doesn't need to be able to sing jazz and country and soul etc. etc. to be successful. As he matures and gains more self confidence and stage presence I think he will be a fine performer.

Music is a personal thing. You don't need to like John Steven's style and I don't need to like Fantasia's. Let's cut this kid some slack! Go Johnny ...

The judges picked this kid from the beginning and then pick on him unmercifully every week - does anyone see a pattern here for good TV and to get all of us hopped up every week????? I think the producers are using this poor kid to get viewers!!!!!

BTW, I think he is very cute and will someday (with more lessons and more experience) be a good performer!!!!! BUT, if the judges think he is immature and inexperienced and doesn't possess the emotion to sell a particular song, why did they let him through???

Maybe the age should be raised so these younger kids don't get abused by the judges so much just because they are younger!!!!!

What it all comes down to is I feel sorry for John Stevens and I bet there are a whole lot of people in America who feel sorry for him too and that's why they are voting for him!!!! ...and because he's cute!!!!!

I posted this info on the AI thread. John works with a voice coach here. He goes to music competitions and scores very well. He scored a 100 singing an aria....so he does have a good singing voice. I would buy a cd of his in an instant if one came out.
