John McCain Doesn't Care About Vets

There was a bill drafted by the republicans that would have given veterans better benefits. It didn't see the light of day because the democrats would not allow it to come to the floor for discussion. You got good benefits and at the same time, like private business, the benefits increased the longer you were in the service.

You have to ask yourself, why?

It would have been fair to discuss all the options then decide on which one is the best.

Because there wasn't enough earmarks attached to it.

Which is one more reason to vote for McCain. He will stop the earmarks which will certainly stop some of Washington's corruption.

McCain talks a good game but all he has is words. His actions show a different picture. Our Vets deserve better treatment than McCain wants to give them.

Piecey, please thank your husband for me. Hug him hard and tell him I admire and appreciate his sacrifices and yours.

My husband is p&t from his service in Vietnam - Agent Orange illnesses, diabetes (see Agent Orange), lung injuries, closed head trauma and severe PTSD. He can't believe John McCain has voted MANY times against the issues he pretends to be in favor of.

Hug your hubby right back for me.

It's hard to stop something when you've been a part of it for 21 years.

Is that your reason for wanting Mr. 'I was in office for 174 days before I started running for president' Obama?

It's not, but his inexperience makes him a lot more palatable to me than any other jaded Washington insider.

Ask Sen Webb of Virginia if McCain cares about vets. Ask most vet groups. Both will say no.

Alright, let me start by saying I am NOT a Vet.

I am the wife of a disabled Iraqi War Vet. I am the best friend of a girl whose non-deployable husband is currently deployed, a husband that has missed the birth of his first son. I am the daughter and granddaughter of a Vet. I am the neice of a Vietnam Vet.

I do not know a single person in this family that will be voting for McCain because of his views on Vets and this war.

That says a lot.

Facts don't matter much to these people, but thanks for posting..

Maybe YouTube works.

Since the McCain supporters are so worried about what Barack Obama's children are being taught(church, etc), maybe we should look at what McCain's children have been taught as a reflection on the views of the parents.

Meghan McCain on the Today Show;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU3MplZL8ck&NR=1

She completely disses anybody else in the Military, stating that NOBODY knows sacrifice and war like her family.

Guess all the good men and women here on the DIS have no idea what it is like to have somebody fighting for our country. Apparently it is just an easy cake walk for them.

Wonder who taught her these values? Daddy?

And can I just say - in my line of work (case worker for the wounded) - there are people on the opposite side of that spectrum that say a lot too.

I have no doubt that there are some McCain supporters amongst those you treat (and thank you for that), but what is the percentage?

Thank You to your and your family for their years of sacrifice.

It is sad to think that the McCain family thinks you know nothing of war.

Speaking totally on what has been shared with me (and I get about 15 new "wounded" military familes a day) - and speaking on all honesty - the overwhelming majority of these vets support McCain. Thats all I can say - I swear to you - I am not embelishing or making this up - I am being as honest as possible here based on my own statistics. Thats not saying I don't work with vets that support Obama - I do - but that number is small. As for "real" statistics...I can't answer that.

My DS is a disabled Iraqi vet who also happens to work for the VA. We talk about this most of the time and while he doesn't agree with everything McCain has done for the vets and he feels like he isn't always behind them, he and most of his co-workers are McCain supporters.

Hey...I wonder if I know your son! I work with a bunch of disabled vets that work for the Va. What Va system is he with?

A Huge Thanks to your husband, and your family for his service to our country!
Some loud (right wing) family members of servicemen & women on the Dis would have everyone thinking that you don't support the troops if you support Obama.
I often see the numbers (that the OP is referring to) that tell a different story, thanks for giving us your perspective!!!!:goodvibes

I'm sorry - but you absolutely could not be more wrong!

Wrong about what? That all vets and their families don't support McCain? I'm married to a proud WWII vet who will not vote for McCain. We've got several friends who are Vietnam vets who will not vote for McCain.

Why? Because they know his record on veteran's issues.
