John Edward in Orlando, July 11 and 12th-

Not sure if anyone is interested, but the psychic (medium) John Edward from the show Crossing Over will have a seminar in Orlando July 11 and again on the 12th. If you've ever watched John Edward you would know that he is not a quack - freak or con artist. He comes out with information sometimes that people would rather not talk about or haven't thought about in years.

Don't judge what you don't know!!

Wish I was going at that time, he is great. I have a close friend who was featured on his show with her family and the experience was remarkable. She came back telling me things he mentioned about something I was going through and told me something that she could have never known about so I really believe that this guy is the *real thing*.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion but don't judge if you don't know about him.

He is an entertaining showman, but he does seem to be a cruel person, playing on the grief of those who have lost loved ones. He is very good at doing "cold reading," and milking the audience for information (leading questions, general questions etc.). The articles explain how this is done. Old tricks, new audience.

I've watched his show and I've researched the guy. He's a fake. I'm just amazed he can live with himself.

I certainly do not want to start a debate about the validity of John Edward; however, I saw him in Vegas in March. I do not believe someone who is "milking" the audience can pull out cold to a woman, " Now, I don't want to embarass you, but this Grandma is the one who told you to put menstrual blood on your pimples to make them go away?" The answer was a dead yes. No way can you pull that out your heiny if your faking. Just my humble opinion.

He has people who talk to the folks going on the show before they go into the studio. Its called "hot reading." Peter Popov, the discredited former televangelist did the same sort of thing... had his people get data on the audience members.

I disagree that he is a fake. My dear friend was a member of audience and was read "cold". Her reading went on for a bit and she was asked to go up to the couch area for the rest of the reading. I know her personality and there is no way she would have offered any of the info and I asked her about it afterward. She said she didn't say anything about the things that were addressed and she was able to validate everything he said (not later either, on the spot).

She has been my best friend since we were very young and my father treated her like a daughter. She was just as heartbroken as the rest of my family when he passed away suddenly so we have a very strong connection and my father "was present" for her reading. One of his messages had to do with me and the situation that was occurring on the same day the show was taping. She called me immediately after the show and I practically had to scrape myself off the floor when she relayed the message to me. There is no way anyone there was aware of what had occurred back home so I am pretty much convinced that he is not a fake in the least.

This is also what I'm saying... I was there. There were NO people interfacing with the audience prior to the show. Believe me...my husband is a huge skeptic and looked everywhere for people asking casual questions to the audience outside the show... didn't happen. Again, you'd have to be there to believe it. I understand why some think he is a fake. I just happen to have seen him "live" and saw that it couldn't have been. To each his own!

I also believe John Edward is legit. There are actually only a few I do think that of. Him, another guy I cant remember his name (has a beard) and Sylvia Browne...

Just for the record, my skepticism about Mr. Edward does not mean I do not believe in an afterlife. I do believe people continue on after the death of their bodies but I doubt Mr. Edward is able to communicate with them.

The types of general questions Mr. Edward uses, like the messages in astrological forecasts, show little evidence of supernatural knowledge. During the typical show, he makes many, many guesses that are wrong... and those wrong answers are simply ignored. The right answers fit a specific profile that nearly always applies to a given situation. Its like watching "Wheel of Fortune" as the "secret message" on the board is revealed one letter at a time by Vanna White.

I hope to see my father and mother who passed away when my time comes as well. Until then, I don't think John Edward can get a message through.

Darian, I dont know if you have ever watched his show but he always insists that what he sees has a meaning even if they cant realize it at that moment. Alot of times on the followup the people will mention that there was truth in something he had said after they thought about it. Everything he comes up with is not going to be "oh yeah thats true" right away..

Penn and Teller have a show on Showtime (I think it's Showtime) call Bull****. One of their shows included John Edward one time. They had a guy with absolutely zero psychic ability do the same a JE only they coached him on what to do. It looked very real. Also, the show on TV is edited, so you don't see all that happens.

yes, I've seen the show. I understand your point about how some things he says don't hit home right away. But couldn't that be because a person wants to believe so in their mind they look and look to find something to apply what JE said to? That is a classic con....

I just can't get out of my mind the questions JE asks... like "Is there someone here with departed loved one with a name that begings with C, CL, D K or L?" Talk about fishing! The shows I saw were filled with stuff like that.

If the guy is for real then I too would wonder why he has to guess so much. Also, as Disnsyncey said, if he is for real, where does he get his power (or information) from?

I'm not a secular humanist, and I don't dismiss all things supernatural. I believe we do live in a spiritual world and that we are, in essence, spiritual beings who live in these temporary physical "tents."

Dreams I've had where I've conversed with my departed father, that seemed different from the "normal" type of dream, I found particularly troubling, yet at the same time very comforting. Did I talk with my dad or was it just a dream? I have no idea but I don't pursue it.

Please be sure to post what you think. I am up in the air about John E myself, so I would like to hear more 1st hand experiences about his shows.
I am hoping that there is an afterlife, and if he is for real, then there is some proof.

Anybody interested in JE and his type of mediumship should read the Afterlife Experiments by Gary E Schwartz, PHD.

The book is a scientific look at what mediums do and JE and other top mediums are tested scientifically. The results are interesting.

PS I have no link with the author or the publisher, just purchased it as an interesting read.

Okay. I don't have a first hand experience with JE but I have been watching him since his show started to air on SciFi network. Since he has linked up with Universal he has done a few 'extra' shows that go into how he 'gets information' and he even has books in print that explain how you too can pick up on the 'spritiual message'. Did that sound like an infomercial? Sorry. I do believe that JE has a real gift.
He always starts off a reading by picking an area and a name and then gets signals if more information is needed or if he's on the right track.

I hope there's more people out there that have seen him that will share their experiences with us.
