Jogging route around the Contemporary

We leave for Disney in two weeks and are staying at the Contemporary. A couple of the days I'd like to get up early and go for a morning jog. I'm looking for a 3 to 3.5 mile route and was wondering if anybody had a recommendation. I'll probably be running around 6am.

How far is it to the MK from the Contemporary? Thanks.

While I don't know about the CR specifically, every other resort where I have stayed will give you a jogging path map at the front desk, just for asking.

I'm GUESSING to mk 1/4 mile??? not over 1/2 mile.

Check out the Mickey miles podcast web page. There is a tab at the top of the page called "running the resorts" and they have a map and distances for most of the resorts.

There isn't really a good jogging path near the Contemporary. If you can get a boat over to the Wilderness Lodge there's lots of places to run there and over to Fort Wilderness.

Not really a jogging path at the CR i would suggest going over to Fort Wilderness and run around the loops. If you don't want then walk over to the MK and take a boat to the GF and jog from there to the TTC and then back. Fort Wilderness is the best choice, imho.

I just got back Saturday. The jogging path around the Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower was just over 1 mile. You could do it three times, but it's a pretty boring run and it's a lot of curved paths. The Epcot hotels provide a much better running path around the lake and then to Hollywood Studios and back.

Blah! The worst! So confusing and dull. I did the route the map suggested and also ran past Magic Kingdom to the far end of Seven Seas Lagoon. That was about 3 miles. Check out Map My Run for the route.

Has it really been 4 years since anybody chatted about jogging at the Contemporary/BLT?

Not for the faint of heart, but I discovered there is a great 5-mile run to be had around the Lagoon. The route is tricky because there is no foot path from the main entrance of Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian. Instead, you have to go through a backstage area around the rear of the theme park, which involves jogging along roads without sidewalks. There isn't much traffic if you run in the middle of the night, but there is often construction going on.

Aside from that backstage area, the rest of the route is still tricky. You can join the poorly-marked "jogging trail" through the Grand Floridian and Polynesian resorts, which is really just a series of walkways, then cut through the Transportation and Ticket Center, navigate the tour bus parking area, and continue through the World Drive underpass. How often do you get to run under a waterway with boat traffic? That short under-water stretch is unique in that it has a sidewalk.

I do wish Disney would build more sidewalks, as well as a foot bridge over the canal between the MK monorail station and the GF resort. For now, if you can avoid being hit by a bus, have a quick chat with the friendly security guards, and dodge into the grass for each passing car, this route is a great mix of Florida swampland, transportation infrastructure, and the most posh of Disney resorts.

I would go back and forth CR > MK > CR > MK > CR > MK until you reach 3 miles :D

Disney Security will pick you up if they see you running along side the roadways, especially in backstage areas. They stopped my husband from running along the road near Disney Springs past Saratoga Springs several years ago.
