What is the distance for one lap around the ship? Also, what is the best time to do this (least crowded)?

I think I remember reading in passporter that 4 times around was 1 mile or something like that.

Deck 4 is the only deck that goes all the way around the ship. The best time to jog would be early morning. You will probably enounter walkers and other early risers enjoying the comfy lounge chairs, too, so be patient. :)

Yes, 4 laps around deck 4 is approximately a mile. We have found early morning to be the best time for jogging. It is pretty empty and depending on what time you're out there, you can catch a great sunrise over the ocean!! Also be aware of the crew members that are usually sprucing up the boat in the early morning! You'll enjoy it much more than the treadmills- at least we did!!

Last December we had a "walk" on deck 10. That went all the way around the ship, I know it's shorter than deck 4, but it does go all the way around.

We were there at 8 am and we encounter just a few other sailors.

I never jogged on the deck, but the walk was very enjoyable. However, I did
use the treadmills and found it to be interesting. The treadmills were excellent
and you can see into the bridge somewhat. Also, it was definitely an experience
running on a treadmill as the ship is moving. I never had any problem finding
an open treadmill, but I usually went in the afternoons or early evening before
dinner.

Deck four is a great one-third of a mile track.

I remember being told it was a 1/4 mile, and couldn't understand why my times were atrocious on the ship.

I blamed the kitchen staff, but that is another matter.

Then someone showed the photo that confirms it is a 1/3 mile track, and all made sense.

The kitchen staff is off the hook!

Jim

PS There is no truth to the rumour the ship would list from side to side as I went around

4 laps around deck 4 will give you an approximate nautical mile. 3 laps is an approximate land mile (US).

Saw the linked photo. Is the lap around deck 4 flat and no steps? It looked like there were steps in the second picture.

No steps. But it is true that there are oftern guys in yellow suits out there sprucing things up a bit. Sometimes it is even closed (doors tied off with yellow tape) because they are washing the deck and it is slippery.

0630 to 0730. 3 laps are one mile. We're from MI so after 0730 its too Hot! Wife and I did 5 miles 3 times a week for our last 2 cruises. Made desert at dinner feel like Heaven! Join us on 10-06...
