Has anyone eaten at Joes in the Orlando area? And if so how close is it to WDW? My husband really wants to eat there and since we have nothing like Joes in our area I was wondering how far it was from Disney. Thanks for any info.

I can't realy answer much of your question, but we have a Joes near where I live. DH and I ate there once, and we won't be back. We were underimpressed by everything from the food to the service. It was all hype. Maybe we hit them on a bad night, although anymore I don't see them doing much business as I drive by...

We went to a Joes Crab Shack near our home here in the Atlanta area. The food was poor quality and cold. The atmosphere was just too annoying with a tacky strobing disco ball that was swirling above our table. The dancing waitstaff concept didn't impress us. The whole situation was so bad, that I doubt they get a second chance. Go to Red Lobster. The food is better and the service is too. IMHO Mickey

We ate at Joes Crab Shack two summers ago in Anaheim, near Disneyland. We loved it so much, we ate there twice durring that vacation and we are going back to the same hotel this summer just so we can eat there again ( there are none near where we live in NY). The food was very good and inexpensive for seafood. It was a fun place for the kids, there was even a playground outside. We would love to know where the one by Disney World is located so we can go durring our WDW trip. If you have kids we highly recommend it.

Hmm...I LOVE Joe's Crabshack...the one I go to here near Atlanta is great...I love the atmosphere and the dancing waitstuff..it's soo fun! We also went to the one in Jacksonville and it was good too!

While on the subject...do any of you know the approx prices and closeness to WDW of International Lighthouse Lobster Feast or Charlies Lobster House in Orlando? I have coupons for them...just wondering about them :)
TIA

DO NOT, repeat DO NOT eat at Boston Lobster Feast food is sub-standard at best and way overpriced.

Never heard of Charley's Lobster House but there is a Charley's Steak House on I-Drive and it is right up there with Del Frisco's or Ruth Chris'.

As for seafood try Landry's on 535 or Crab House in the Crossroads. They are both onewd by the same company as Joe's.

Here is their corporate site. Click on the retaurant you want.

We've eaten at Joe's at Myrtle Beach and it was fine. Basic stuff, and I'm easy to please. Dancing wait-staff?

And Joe's is owned by the same company that owns the Rainforest Cafe.

If your husband really wants to eat there I say go for it. I have been to one in California, and for us it was fine. We had several small children with us so the relaxed atmosphere worked. But I would not go back there without kids. The seating is at picnic tables and the food is take-out window quality. I also think it was way overpriced for what we got. So indulge your husband, but don't go in with high expectations. Who knows you might absolutly love it. Good luck!

I love Joe's Crab Shack. My T-shirt from there is so worn out, I need a new one. :D

We also had a Joe's Crabshack where we used to live in Virginia... we haven't been to the local one in Orlando since we have moved. After eating at the one in VA, we have no real desire. The only reason we went was for the indoor playground for DD when the weather was bad. Since all of the playgrounds here are outside, and are scourching, we have no reason left to go. At our local one, we found the food to be mediocre, and the service to be average. There are so many really good restaurants in and around WDW that it really isn't even on our list.

We love Joe's! We have them locally and we chose to eat at the one on International Drive (or was is I-4?) in June. We enjoyed it very much. We've never had a bad meal at Joe's and this one was no exception. The lobster bisque is to die for!

As far as theming, it's certainly no more over the top than many restaurants at WDW. And you can't beat the prices, comparitively.
Give it a try!

We have gone to the local Joe's Crab Shack quite a bit. Playground for the kids which keeps them quite nicely entertained while the grown ups can have a nice chat. Watch out for drink prices, though. A cup of what amounts to nothing more than fruit punch for kids was $5. OUCH!!!!

Downtown Disney ???? have you tried it , can use wdw trans. to get therr with out going out of the world . :D

Thanks to every one who responded to my question. We will probably try Joes when we are in Florida. I have eaten at Joes in Tucson and was very happy with it. Both my husband and I are very low keyed, laid back kind of people so the atmosphere will really be up our alley. Once again, thanks to all.

Here is th closest to WDW

5. Joe's Crab Shack - Orlando - Lake Buena Vista
12124 South Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando, FL 32836 US
Phone: (407) 465-1895

They also own and operate both Rainforrests in AK & DTD

For the best Lobster buffet and not overpriced. ANGEL'S DINER on 192. It's in front of an average hotel on 192 across from Denny's right outside the world. Great lobster and good prices.

I have been to Joe's numerous times, primarily because the kids love to go there. I've tried various menu items, and I agree that most things are just average at best. However, their coconut shrimp is VERY GOOD and comes with a delicious dipping sauce. So, if you do go, try the coconut shrimp!

That being said, I would think that Florida would allow for many seafood restaurants that would be far better than a chain restaurant like Joe's.

Our Joe's Crab Shack is great! Our food is always piping hot (like it should be) and the service is top notch!

I guess it's like any restaurant franchise, what's good here, might be bad in another state.

We eat at Joe's about 3 times a month.

The Joe's Crab house we have in Ohio is awful:( Fulton's in DTD is wonderful but MUCH MUCH pricier than Joe's.......it's a totally different experience!
