We have eaten at three of them -- two in the suburbs of Chicago and one in Naples. We should have learned after the two in Chicago to stay away. We ate at the one in Naples this past September and it was not good at all. My husband had the crab cakes and they were absolutely horrible; I had the fried shrimp which was nothing special. For the prices (they were not cheap), I would find somewhere else to go if you can.
Joe's is a great place to eat and the food is pretty good. The atmosphere is a lot of fun when the wait staff breaks out into dance. The prices are reasonable.
I've been to Joe's Crab Shack a few times near home. I like crab legs and I think they're great here! However I have tried other seafood entrees that were not outstanding. They weren't bad, just nothing to remember. The atmosphere is fun and laid back. They bring a bucket and a roll of paper towels when you eat the crab. My husband is not a seafood eater, and he has never had anything he really loved. He just goes to appease my crab leg cravings.
I was giving you my opinion of the local restaurant and the PP was talking about another location. With any chain restaurant the reviews will be mixed. If you want really good seafood, I would recommend Bonefish over Joe's but it's pricey.

Very true; each location can have a different result. And my husband would agree withyou on Bonefish -- he loves it there (he's eaten at several of them in Florida during his travels).

Thanks. I will checkout the menu at Bonefish. I liked the fact that Joe's had a kid's crab bucket. My daughters love crab, but I didn't want to order an adult-sized meal ($$$$) of it.
We love joes, but only for the steamer buckets. We haven't liked anything else we've gotten from there. I've eaten at 6 different Joe's in 3 different states, and it's always the same...awesome steamer pots, bad entrees and apps.
I love Bonefish as well. The BangBang Shrimp are fantastic!
Awwww...say it isn't so . We had them on the list but never made it. Will try next time though. I was ONLY going for the buckets. I'll make sure to stick with that.
I'm not a huge seafood eater so I can say the chicken there was as good as it is anywhere else. I went with two friends who split one of those big buckets and they both loved it. My dad thought it was expensive but he is notoriously cheap so I don't think that's a good indicator.
We just ate at Joe's on 192 Celebration area. It was ridiculously priced for VERY small portions. The "bucket" is really a salad bowl with 2 golf ball sized potatoes and at the most a couple of overcooked, tasteless broken clusters and a piece of corn. We ordered 4 different buckets and the BBQ bucket was the only one that had a different taste and it was VERY salty and the most overcooked.
The service was excellent, but I would recommend anywhere other that this particular restaurant.
On our last trip, Jan 2010, our group met up at Joes after the parks closed and had a great time. Food was good, not great, but enjoyable. The place is fun and offers something different than the standard fare.
We ate there this year on our trip in March. Comparable to some other Joe's we've eaten at, it wasn't as lively but still fun. The food and service was good, and we really enjoyed it. Give it a try if you like casual, easy going meal. Also, you don't have to worry about the kids being too loud because its really loud in there
