Part 9: Day 6: MGM

Early rise today. All 11 of us were booked in to Chef Mickey’s @8.10. The aim was to set off at 7.00 but getting 11 people out of the door early morning is difficult, especially when two of them didn’t get up until 7.10.

Set away at 7.20 and only just made it in time, as the resort monorail gets to the Contempory last from TTC.

All in line for photos then seated quickly at two adjoining tables. This breakfast was fantastic! Lots of character interaction. To be honest I think the kids were getting fed up of Mickey in the end! There was Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Chip ‘n’ Dale as well as Mickey. Took loads of photos and video especially when Gavin was singing ‘Celebrate’ and waving his napkin around!

The food was better than I expected, plenty of choice and loads of coffee and juice available.

We took our time over breakfast and didn’t leave until 9.45. Back on the monorail to TTC for Gavin & me. The rest of them stayed on until Magic Kingdom.

At MGM we got a FP for Lights Motors Action straight away. Next stop was Muppets-3d, a lot better than I was expecting, would def’ go on again. After Muppets we went for a drink and a sit down. It was very very very hot today and we ere flagging quickly. Even though it had only been a couple of hours since breakfast our next stop was going to be LMA so we decided to eat lunch now. Two large cokes two apple pies and two cheeseburger with fries from Rosie’s All American Café $24.22. The shade was nice but an a/c dining area would have been better.

Time to go to LMA, sooooo glad we had a FP. After all the FP holders were in there was only about 10% of the seating area left and hundreds of people queuing to get in!

trip98.jpg

LMA was good but as we had seen this show at DLRP there were no surprises in store and been a ‘car’ man and an engineer Gavin proceeded to critique the cars and stunts. Whatever keeps him happy. There was one surprise, Herbie! He had come along to talk about his new film.

After LMA we had a wonder around. Gavin had been complaining his head was too hot in his baseball cap so he wanted a visor so his head would be free but he still had something to keep the sun out of his eyes. Of course been in a Disney theme park tends to mean only Disney merchandise is available, this didn’t bother gavin one bit. He walked up to a cart and parted with $18.00 for a Mickey hat! Of course I was now jealous so I sent him right back to the cart to get one for me. I got a Tinkerbell cap. I would have preferred a Mickey one but Gavin said we would look like a right couple of plonkers un matching hats!

The heat was unbearable now so we went home for a while and had a sit in the pool, I still can’t swim and Gavin never could! Back to MGM around 18.00. First things first, a picture with Donald please.

Next was the Great Movie Ride, I really enjoyed this apart from the bit with the snakes. I was practically under my seat and shaking like a leaf! Other than that it was great excellent CM interaction.

Tea was at the ABC commissary. Milk, two cokes, hot chocolate and two cheeseburger & fries $19.34. Wasn’t impressed with this. I know theme park food is pretty much all the same but this really did seem a bit too carrdboardy.

Next we went on some Animation thingy. Can’t remember what it was called but the CM talked to the lizard from Mulan.

Home at 22.20 and straight to bed.

LOvely photos too! can't wait for LMA when we go in Nov

Love your visor Jodie :flower: I'm looking forward to LMA as well. Sounds like we need to get a FP for it, though?

Def' get a FP for LMA. Even if the park doesnt seem busy. If you really want to get in I wouldn't risk it. Am pretty sure your next FP window comes round very quickly aswell.

Also, when you get to LMA the FP will be the longest queue. This is because they are checking everyones tickets. The other seemingly shorter queue will be kept in a holding pen around the corner until all the FP seats are filled.

Really enjoyed your trip report, Jodie. Sounds like you had a lovely day. Chef Mickeys looks like a lot of fun.

Hi Jodie
Not overly fussed on LMA. I have 2 DD 11 and 8. Do you think they will find it boring???

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Great time had at Chef Mickey's and MGM. We loved Chef Mickey's but we haven't eaten breakfast there, only dinner. Thanks for the tip about getting the FP for LMA first - I shall leave DH to ride his Rock n Roller Coaster and I'll go get the FPs :)

LMA is well worth at least 1 visit but not sure if an 8 & 11 year old girls would appreciate it. If they were older they could admire the driving skill but if your not bothered then maybe give it a miss until next time.
