Part 18: Day +1: Thoughts & Feelings

We had an amazing time in Orlando but there are so many things that will change next time…

No large group - Gavin & I found any time spent with the rest of our party difficult. The 3 kids had demands prone to children that we weren’t used to and the general time keeping of them all was ridiculous to the point of rude and disrespectful.

Fireworks – Next time I will see one display with no restrictions or moaning from DF.

Ear Infection – Despite been incredibly painful I hadn’t realised how much it impacted on my holiday until I wrote my reports. At first it was a couple of hours to go the hospital but then it became a full day at home resting. Obviously I can’t dictate my health next trip but I really really hope I am never that ill again. I have been to the hospital in Goole twice and my GP twice since returning home and touch wood, six weeks later it seems to have cleared up.

Water-parks – Fingers crossed no ill health I will be going to all 3 water parks wether DF can swim or not!

Weather - It was sooo hot all of the time. It wasnt our decision to go in Aug' Gavins dad had sorted the dates and even though mid-Aug' saw fewer crowds the weather is enough to put us off summer, unless it is Aug' or nothing.

Photo's - We took loads of photo's and camcorder footage the first week but this petered off during the second. I will keep it up all holiday next time as we have decided only to take still's and leave the camcorder behind.

We booked for Pop Century in Sept/Oct '06 a week after we returned. I am always up for WDW but I was very surprised DF had enjoyed himself enough to return.

I was very pleased with how much Gavin tried despite been a big girls blouse most of the time! He loved Spiderman and Test Track and was brave enough to try the Mummy. He was petrified on Rip-Saw Falls because of the huge drop but went on all the water rides (he closed his eye’s for all except one but he still rode!)

On-Site in 357 days, Will we ever go off-site again? ……

Enjoyed reading all your reports!! Sorry about your earache. My DH hurt his back last year a few weeks before our trip and that through all our plans out the window (had even talked him into going to Typhoon Lagoon!), but we did visit a park or two and made the best of our stay -- we were still at Disney World after all!!! :cool1: It was nice to hear all about the other parks. The only other park I have been to there was Sea World, and that was 20 years ago!! Guess it's time to check other parks out!

It seems a lot of Americans stick to Universal or Disney & rarely do both.

As it is such a long way to Florida from the UK, and very expensive it would seem daft not to do as much as possible. Same as when an American goes to London then manages to squeeze a quick trip to Paris in aswell!

It sounds like what you had is what we refer to as "swimmer's ear". I am not sure if this is true, but I have been told by my Doctor that once you get it, you are more likely to get it again. I got it twice in a row on our family vacations to Maine (I think it is from the lake water), and since then I get the drops before I go and I put some in every night while I'm there. I haven't had any trouble. Of course, you just have to convince your doctor to prescribe the drops before you go!

I really enjoyed your reports, and you are right on about managing a large group.....never again!!

Thanks so much for posting all about your trip; very interesting and entertaining! :)

I'm so sorry you were feeling under the weather. My biggest fear is that one of us will be sick next year when we go.

Hi Jodie, fellow Brit here, loved your reports, we are going in 4 days with two teenagers!!! Staying onsite at ASMo. 21 days of indulgence, haven't been for 3 years - can't wait.

From some of the phrases you used, I would hazard a guess that you are Welsh like me and my other half. Am I right?

Tell Gavin not to be a big girl's blouse in future, the upside down coasters are the best ;)

Thought the fridge pic was great, thats about the right balance between food and alcohol :)

Enjoyed your trip report, especially your British sense of humor ("big girl's blouse", that's a new one for me!!! :rotfl: ). Also I finally figured out that "tea" meant actual food, not just a cup of tea, am I right?

Thanks for all your hard work. The pictures of your villa looked beautiful. But you will love staying onsite next time!

Thanks for your trip report! I loved it! For some reason your pictures were not showing for me, so I will have to check back on another computer.

Living in Orlando, we have annual passes for Disney, Universal, and Sea World - love all the parks, though of course, Disney is our fav!

I hope the next year goes by quickly!
