Words to live by. I can not tell you how many candidates due to a lack of professionalism that I have turned down in the past 10 years. Their lack of understanding that remote interviews do not mean casual behavior.

Since I had a couple of people bomb out on these in the last week, also make sure that your setup is working PRIOR to the actual interview. A phone interview puts you at a distinct disadvantage.

My favorite one was a candidate whose dog starting yakking up a bone during the interview. She was so distraught about the dog (not worried at all that she was totally blowing the interview), and here I am trying to keep from laughing my butt off. My co-worker was perfectly calm and collected during the whole episode.

OMG, it was hilarious.
