I remember this post from this summer, but cannot seem to find it. My mom is a real estate agent and has been one for almost 30 years. Sadly, even with her referrals and repeat clients, the market is killing her income right now. She'd like to keep selling homes, but is looking for something else for a consistent income...any suggestions? I know many places will be hiring right now for the holidays, but she would like something constant. We have thought of medical office, school office, retirement home sales, etc. Thanks a bunch!

How much time does she plan to devote to or have open for her real estate career? And will this be a permanent thing or will she go back to just real estate in a year or so if the economy improves?

We were hiring for a part time office position several months ago and I had at least 2 dozen real estate persons apply and those were some of the things that we discussed with them. From the employers perspective, when hiring someone you want to make sure they are going to be in it for the long haul and most employers will look for someone who can work at minimum a set schedule or number of hours per week. Most of the people still working some real estate wanted to have a very flexible schedule, something we were not able to accommodate

How about signing on with a few temp agencies? Obviously she has office skills.. That would also give her a little more flexibility to continue with the RE as well..

Just a thought..
:)

Does she want something full time? If she is only looking for a part time job she should look into being a lunch aide at a local elementary school. Our lunch aides are paid 15$ an hour and work from 11 to 1 Mon - Fri. She could also possibly be a crossing guard too (as well as a lunch aide)! Our crossing guards make 15$ also and they are paid for 3 hours a day. I was surprised to find out they make that much but they do!

WOW! Your school district is generous. Here they pay the lunch aides minimum wage. Classroom aides the a little more than minimum wage, but less than $8.00/hr. No crossing guards at all. I don't think the bus drivers here even make as much as your lunch aides.
